Chapter 1

Fate of Wantene

It had been many long years now; so many that Wantene had lost count, since he had been sent to this place of nothingness. It was not unlike the Nether realm, nothing but a bright darkness. This place, however, had time. Wantene saw that things that were there when he first came were now in a state of advanced decay. He was the only thing not affected by this unseen force. He concluded that he was not technically dead, but in a state of eternal suspension, in a place between Hell, Heaven, and Earth. A place where he was probably to remain forever. But then strange things began to happen. He began to dream and this only added to his insistency that he wasn’t dead. Dead people don’t dream. What’s more was that he was dreaming about Kynoto, who had just had a gracious battle against Shintriasha and had won, but only at the loss of much life which was quite unlike Kynoto, who believed that life could always be spared. Then there was a stranger, a young, but well built, red headed boy. He was being held captive on a ship of some sort and was being tortured. As Wantene thought more about this, all he could think of was questions, but no answers. He began to search for a way out of the endless void that he had been imprisoned in.

Elsewhere, more pressing things were being done. Somewhere out in the middle of the Nasigawa Ocean, a sandy-red headed boy was struggling to get a breath of air, as his life was strangled from him.

“I’ll ask ya only one more time ya scallywag! What is yer name and where d’ya hail from?” Asked a scraggly man, his voice crackling from the Fire whiskey that he had just drunk. The boy said nothing as he looked up at the man, his eyes alight with determination. “Well then, if ya won’t talk, the whip will do it for ya! Give him another dose of it!” The man shouted at a gangly man to the left of him. The man pulled a whip from the wall of a cabin and unrolled it. It was made of the hardest leather you could find and it had small silver blood stained spikes on each of the strands that broke off from the main handle. The boy winced as he felt the whip come into contact with his back, ripping it open along with several old partly healed scars. Blood rolled down his back and dripped onto the deck, they could hear the blood hitting the sea salt stained boards. “Still nothin’ eh? Ok, then bring the sea water and be sure to put extra salt in it. That should loosen yer lips,” The man grunted and he gave the boy a gut wrenching kick. Soon the air was filled with the boys screams, his pain was on the edge of unbearable when he said,

“Wait, stop, please stop! I will tell you everything.”

“Ahh, finally. Now, spill yer guts befer I goes and do it for ya!” The man, who the boy had guessed was the captain, said lifting a lethal looking dagger.

“My name…,” the boy stopped for a second, as if he had to think about it, “is Rouin, Rouin Haikashi. I come from a place known to very few, a place called Sykoto or I should say that my distant relatives do,” Rouin said reluctantly.

“Now that wasn’t so hard was it laddy? Now, where in the blazes is this Sykoto place?” The old man said gruffly. Rouin had now just gotten his first real good look at the old pirate. He had on an old musty captains hat that had several holes in it, a long white goatee that was braided at the end. The ship was about in the same condition as he was, old and full of holes. The crew was endlessly bailing out water from the hull beneath the upper deck.

“Sykoto doesn’t exist any more to my knowledge. It was destroyed by a man so evil that Heaven rejected him and Hell spat him back out. That man was Triasha, wielder of the force known as Trianchu. But you know, I can use it too,” Rouin said, a smug look on his face as the entire crew looked at him, their faces drained of color.

“You can use that Triauch or whatever the devil it’s called?” The captain said starting to take small steps backward.

“Yes, heh, I can. But now where are your manners. I don’t even know the name of the Captain of this vessel yet,” Rouin said now standing up and walking around. As he passed the crew members they winced as if he were going to attack them with some unseen force, but Rouin merely enjoyed the change.

“O-oh yes, I am Xilot, Cap’n of the Duran, at yer service,” he said with a trembling bow.

“Hmm, so that is the name of the ship is it? The Duran, Captain?” Rouin said, stopping in front of the port-side rail. He turned to Xilot and said, “A little rundown isn’t it?”

“Ya, yer righ’. It could use a touch up here and there, but ya know, thas what the sea tends ta do ta these wooden boats. The salt eats em away from under yer feet if yer not careful, harhar,” Xilot said jokingly, trying to brighten the mood. “Say, how abou’ you tell us what this Trinchu grog is eh?”

“Alright, Trianchu,” Rouin emphasized, trying to get Xilot to know what the proper name for it was, “is basically an ability controlled by the user’s mental powers. You control it with your mind and it will take the shape of what ever you want it too. It is also a destructive weapon. In most cases the amount of Trianchu a person has is affected by the mood of the user but in some special cases, the controller, if her or she can use elemental Trianchu; earth, fire, wind, water, light, and darkness just to name a few, they can summon a catalyst which is usually in the form of a storm. This catalyst allows the controller to take energy from the catalyst and gain tremendous powers. If I knew any elemental Trianchu, I could summon one and become thrice as powerful as I am now. There are several types of Trianchu, colors if you will, besides the elementals which I will get to later. Now, the color types are black, grey, dark, red, blue, purple, white, yellow, green, and jade. Now you’re all probably thinking, “What is he talking about?” but it is quite simple. Each ‘color’ Trianchu has a different effect when used. Black, or noir as it is sometimes called, is an attacking Trianchu and if use right, can suck your opponents Trianchu out of him. Grey is a stronger version of black but it gives the power it steals to you. Red is the Trianchu of speed and it happens to be my forte. Blue controls time, you can slow down or speed up time with it. Purple is a fusion of blue and red. It was created by Triasha for the sole purpose of cloning. In other words, it takes the qualities of red and blue and meshes them together, creating a time-travel Trianchu. You can go to the future or past and retrieve the person, or thing, you are looking for and bring him or her back. This makes the person brought back stronger then the original person from your time, but it has a twist to it. If not done correctly, you’ll get lost in the time stream and eventually you will die. White, the healing Trianchu, can heal even the worst wounds, even if you are an inch from death it can bring you back. Yellow allows the user to do things with his or her mind, kind of like telepathy. Green melds any two attacks of the user, creating a super attack from the two base attacks. Jade is a relatively new form of Trianchu. It allows the user to meld all of his or her attacks together resulting in a very strong attack, one that would surely be a one-hit death attack. Now, elemental Trianchu is different. It allows you to control the forces of nature itself. The types are earth, wind, darkness, light, fire, water, lightning, and finally omni. Now, these work differently because they do not usually have attacks that use them hand if they do, these attacks are usually very strong and extremely high leveled techniques. These work as so, they allow you to use the element that you summon to enchant any thing that you want. So if you’re fighting a fire monster, you can enchant your weapon to have a water element thus making the fire monster easily destroyable. To be able to use these, you normally have to form seals, but if Elemental Trianchu is your specialty, you can just same the name of the element and it will be summoned to you. There are only two people who have ever had that ability, Kynoto and a member of the Woishigate family. Kynoto, derived from the Hero of Light Kynotoishi, has never used this form though, he is also my brother. Now there are two special types of Elemental Trianchu, darkness and omni. Now, darkness is not the same as dark, not by a long shot. Darkness allows you to summon creature from the underworld such as vampires and zombies. Now, the strongest form of Elemental Trianchu is omni. It combines all of the elements except for darkness and forms a deadly kind of Trianchu called Kitosu. Now Kitosu is extremely dangerous and no one has ever been able to use it, except for Triasha of course, but he lost that power when the Hero of Light defeated him over sixty thousand years ago. Finally, Trianchu gives the user some benefits. These include not aging, the ability to almost never die unless there are special circumstances, and the power to save or destroy. I bet you would never guess that I was actually a member of the original town of Sykoto, which makes me around eight thousand years old, but I have not aged a day due to my Trianchu. The same goes for Triasha, Kynoto, and Wantene. Now that we're done, how about some food?” Knifes asked to the now astounded crew.

“Uhhh…food, yes food. Time for lunch boys’!” Xilot said regaining his composure. Rouin soon whished that he had not mentioned this for pirate food was well below his taste. The pirates had prepared calamari stuffed with three year old seaweed, which Xilot said gave it a better taste. Right as Rouin was getting ready to ask a crew member that was sitting beside him a question, he felt something. It was far off, but it was definitely a Trianchu power of some sort. Xilot saw him staring intently towards the bow of the ship when he asked,

“You spy somethin’ amiss me hearty?”

“No, not quite. I feel an energy, a strong one too, coming from that direction,” Rouin said, nodding to the bow-side of the ship.

“Ah ha! An adventure! Get the boat ready lads, were goin’ for a little sail! Get those sails up ya jelly livered mongrels, or I’ll be wearin’ yer guts for garters!” Xilot said, jumping up from the table waving his dagger around dangerously, causing mass confusion. Rouin had the notion that he was going to see what the source of that power was whether he wanted to or not.
I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes....Or should I?

Chapter 2

The Reunion

By now Wantene had figured out that he was in a different dimension and that a dimensional rift would allow him to re-enter his own. He had already collected a great deal of power, around five hundred million, and was now prepared for the ordeal. There would be a great deal of pain involved because opening dimensional rifts had a tendency to actually injure the person going through them, but since Wantene knew White Trianchu he would be fine. He then proceeded. He opened the rift and flew through it unknowingly causing causality to take effect in his realm.

The Duran was sailing with all her might to the spot that Rouin had sensed the disturbance when a whirlpool formed there, but it didn’t act like one. Instead, it was pulling Rouin into it. As he slid along the deck, he knocked over several of the crew as well as Xilot, who shouted,

“WHAT IN THE NAME OF BLOODY CATFISH IS GOING ON HERE?!” As if Wantene had heard the question, which he probably did since Xilot had an unnaturally loud voice, he answered,

“Oh, sorry about that, heh. I forgot that to shift dimensions you have to give something of equal trade, but it worked out well enough; I’m back and you didn’t have to give anything up. Hmm…! You!” Wantene shouted at Rouin who jumped from surprise, “I have been dreaming about you but not that kind of dreaming. More like visions actually, but still. Who are you and where do you come from?”

“I…I am Rouin, one of your brothers. I, of course, come from Sykoto, but what of you? I thought Triasha killed you long ago?” Rouin said, a quizzical look on his flustered face. Wantene told him all about his experiences in the other dimension and how he escaped, Xilot listened in too for the idea of another stowaway angered him, at least until he learned that Wantene could also use Trianchu. By the time Rouin and Xilot were finished asking Wantene questions it was nightfall. Xilot ordered the hauling in of the sails for the night and that dinner be made ready. It was a hearty meal, even for pirates. Plates of calamari, clams, fish, manta ray, and shark covered the already bowing table. Then there was the wine, pirate loved their wine and it was plentiful on the Duran. Hundreds of flasks of Damson wine must have passed by Rouin. On top of that, they had all the normal pirate drinks; seaweed ale, seaweed grog, fire whisky, the sourest red wine that Wantene had ever tasted called Red moon, and they had some very strong wines as well. Xilot was known for his plundering of wineries but this special wine he made himself for special occasions only. It was a combination of Red moon and two different types of fire whisky, a little bit of the good ol’ moonshine, as Xilot put it while he was making the concoction, and he topped it off with a little pure Damson wine. It ended up all going into the captains’ mouth because the crew couldn’t stomach it, or even get near it in fact; the smell of it was enough to lay you flat for a few hours. Wantene bravely drank a few glasses and said that the crew must be deft in the head to hate the drink, and then he got hit by the full force of it. He passed out for half a day from just two glasses and the captain had drunken five times that plus all of the other wine and he didn’t even fall asleep.

The morning after next, Wantene woke up and walked out on to the deck holding a hand to his head.

“Wha’s the matter Wantene, got a wee hang over do we, heh heh,” Xilot said, chuckling heartily.

“Well Mister Bottomless Stomach, you’re made of stouter stuff then I. A whole ten glasses of that stuff and then two barrels of Damson wine after that, not to mention the seven glasses of fire whisky, and you didn’t even pass out for a second. That is abnormal. I have never seen a man drink that much at once, well, save for my Grandfather, but he died drinking,” Wantene shot back at Xilot. Xilot was about to shout something back when Rouin staved the argument and said,

“Stop it the both of you. You’re both much too drunk to act civilly. So I’ll be taking semi-command of this ship. Captain Xilot will still be keeping the log tough. We’re heading for Solomon Island. Wantene and I want to find Kynoto. Something strange is happening and that Island is where he is training. Now, prepare to shove off!”

I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes....Or should I?

Chapter 3

Solomon Island

Xilot couldn’t contend with Rouin, partly because his pride wouldn’t allow it and partly because he knew he was to drunk to command. He did, however, keep a log:

Captains’ Log, date 6/27/10202
I have agreed to this adventure to find yet another stowaway, yet this one seems stronger then Rouin. I detest this action but it can’t be helped because if we were to attack them, they could destroy my whole crew of 120 men with ease. This power, this Trianchu is a force that I would like to obtain but I have heard that it is beyond the grasp of those who seek it and only comes to those born with it.

Ships’ log, 6/30/10202
We have come to a section of the sea that is perilous. Its waters are infested with sea creatures of all sorts and sizes. It is unmapped because any ship that has entered it thus far has been destroyed by the rapids and sea monsters that lurk there.

Captains’ log, 6/30/10202
I don’t want to go into this place for the ship shall surely be lost but I am assured that it is the fastest way to Solomon Island, so I have agreed; besides, even if we barely survive this venture, we will have be the first to sail completely through it for over two centuries.

Captains’ log, 7/1/10202
Today we encountered a sea serpent, a nasty one too. We got to see our first display of this Trianchu and it is truly terrifying to behold. Such a powerful force, invisible to the untrained eye, as to bring down a great serpent as the one we were faced with, that power, I want it, I need it yet I can’t have it, though I would not know what to do with this power once I received it. Rouin dealt with the snake quickly.

Captains’ log, 7/8/10202
We have finally reached Solomon Island and are trying to make contact with this Kynoto. This island is uncharted; it’s not even on my trusty old map from my father’s father. There must be a reason no one has come to this island before but that reason has eluded me thus far. Rouin and Wantene have told me to get some of my most trusted men and bring them with us into the forest with them.

End Log

“Is it really necessary to bring my men Rouin?” Xilot muttered as he looked around at the desolate land that they had set foot on.

“Yes it is Captain. We might need them to help us if something should happen. They say that the forests here are alive,” Rouin answered, alerter then the rest. As they approached the forest they felt a gloomy air come down around their heads, damping their spirits and chipping away their confidence. This feeling was coming from the forest and it was as if the forest itself was the cause of it. Rouin and Wantene proceeded cautiously; they did not know what dangers might have been waiting for them in the dark of the forest floor. As they entered it, Rouin took note of the green colorations of the trees and of the moss on the surrounding rocks. Wantene noticed that there were no animals to be found or heard of so far. Every once in a while a tree would creak and cause them all to jump in fright but they soon started to ignore these. The farther they went in the denser the trees got, until all they could see was tree limbs. Then there was a wind inside of this densely packed forest and Rouin swore he could hear a faint raspy voice saying,

“Get out. Get out! Get out!!” Rouin had stopped to listen and no one had noticed, he was about to call them when he felt something grab him by the torso and lift him up. A tree had grabbed him and lifted him into the canopy.

“Help!! Help me!!” Rouin’s muffled yells reached Wantene’s ears and he whirled around to go find him.

“Where in the hell are you Rouin!” he yelled and looked up as a leaf landed on his head. He saw Rouin there; his arm and neck were bent in an unnatural way. Then Wantene realized that the tree was killing Rouin. He traced the branches to the tree and unsheathed his sword. His was a Shigathian like Kynotos’ except his could manipulate elemental Trianchu. He took one accursed glance at the tree and said loud and clear,

“Fire Slash!” His sword alit with flame and he swung it at the tree. It groaned as if it was in agony as it released Rouin to try to put the flames out with its branches. Before it could, Wantene muttered,

“Water Sword.” His sword turned to water and he put the fire out with a precise slash.

Deep in the center of the forest, Kynoto trained in a clearing. It was well after noon when he took his first break. He sat on the ground, covered in sweat from his brutally intense training. He had been training all night and was almost completely exhausted both physically and mentally, but the pay off had been worth the effort. Kynoto had increased his overall power by twelve percent. He was about to resume his training when he heard some thing in the bushes near him. He leaped up and grabbed his sword from the tree trunk that he had impaled it into and preceded to the bushes. He saw what it was, a bear tiger. He stood in the middle of the clearing, his sword glinting in the sunlight that flooded into it. Then Kynoto was surprised by three more bear tigers that came from behind him and from the sides of him, he was surrounded. He stared at the monsters. They looked like tigers but they had the same build as a bear. The closest one extended its claws and pounced. Kynoto slid like smoke in the wind and disposed of the animal with a quick stab to its stomach. The other three then attacked. Kynoto had a hard time now for these creatures were faster then him, but not stronger. Eventually he beat the other three off into the woods and sat back down. This work out had given him a few more scars to worry about. He looked into the sky and said to it,

“I know your there Triasha.” He heard something fall out of a tree and hit the ground behind him.

“How did you know it was me?” asked a very stunned Triasha.

“Oh well that’s easy, heh. You see, the only thing that lives in this forest is trees and those bear tigers are extinct. You’re the only one who can use purple Trianchu so therefore you have had to have summoned them. What is bothering you Triasha?” Kynoto asked, sensing that Triasha was not paying attention.

“Something has been drawing on my power, something from this forest and now I just sensed something powerful, more so then you or me. Can’t you sense it Kynoto?” Triasha asked Kynoto who was now concentrating.

“Yes I can and my God. It’s more powerful then me at Shadow Angel. We need to find Rouin and Wantene; I sensed them earlier today on the island somewhere. And don’t give me that surprised look, because you know you didn’t kill Wantene. You just sent him to the fifth dimension,” Kynoto muttered to Triasha, who gave a smirk and said,

“Quite right Kynoto, heheh, but I should have killed him, if nothing else for being insolent.”

Meanwhile,

“We need to find some place to hide, I sense two powers coming this way,” Wantene said. Then two forms appeared in the clearing; Obsidian monsters. “These are all yours little brother,” Wantene told Rouin who replied,

“Yah, right, When ever we find some enemies you let others deal with them.” Now Kynoto had control over all forms of attack and Wantene had control over elements only, but Rouin had one specific area of extreme skill; speed or red Trianchu. He lifted his sword and placed the tip on the ground and before the monsters knew it, Rouin was standing right behind them. “Klosa!” Rouin shouted as he began glow red. Once the attack had started the only thing they could see was the flashing of the sword as it hit the Obsidian monsters. Soon the monstrosities had been reduced to a pile of rocks and Rouin came back into view. Then Rouin looked up for some reason and saw a face that had haunted his dreams for over five thousand years. Triasha landed on the ground next to Rouin and was followed by Kynoto. “Kynoto, what’s going on?!” Rouin asked Kynoto who began to explain everything.
I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes....Or should I?

Chapter 4

The Unknown revealed

“Ah, so Triasha saw you in your Shadow Angel form and is now a comrade, I see,” Rouin said pensively but then he started to sniff the air and said, “Do you smell that?”

“Indeed. I know that smell. Its gunpowder,” Xilot said as he turned towards the shore. There was a cloud hanging over the forest that way. Xilot took off at a dash while the others followed. When they arrived they couldn’t describe the horror that met their eyes. Bodies were scattered everywhere, weapons lay bent and broken on the ground, fires were blazing off in the distance where the Duran was anchored.

“W-what could have done this?!” Xilot exclaimed as he fell to his knees. The answer to his question was simple; several Obsidian monsters had appeared. There were too many to count and this worried the small party of fighters.

“K-ky…Kynoto, why are there so many here?” Rouin asked, stuttering wildly.

“So, that’s the answer. Well, there is a volcano here, a perfect place for them to breed. I flew over it a few days ago and there is a village of these creatures inside the volcano,” Kynoto said, withdrawing his sword from its hilt. “Only fire and earth attacks will work against these ones. Those over there by the water can be defeated by speed. Okay, Rouin take those, Wantene, Triasha, and I will take these,” Kynoto stated as they moved into position. Kynoto actually was able to count them now, thirty of them. This was going to be difficult. Rouin faced his foes; they were about ten strong and already advancing on him.

“Valrash!” Rouin yelled. This made Kynoto turn around for he knew that attack should have been well over Rouin’s abilities. Never the less Rouin had learned it. It created three clones of the caster, then it made three clones from those ones. Once a small army had been created the original caster had complete control over the others. Rouin had them attack the beasts in a circular fashion until they were not but dust. Kynoto smirked and called to Wantene and Triasha,

“Rouin has grown strong but lets deal with these one first, before we praise him. Alright, we need to attack them together, so on my mark use your strongest attacks.” They closed around the group and prepared to use their skills. “Now!” Kynoto shouted. “Pile Driver!”
“Rock Crusher!”

“Flame of the Forbidden Fire!” The three voices rang out over the stale air. When the attacks hit the group of Obsidian monsters, they were vaporized. The four warriors picked up the Trianchu stones and fused them into themselves and went to the captain. He was now trying to get to his burning ship,

“Let it go Xilot!” Triasha shouted over the crash of the waves against the rocks.

“I suppose you’re righ’, me laddy,” Xilot grumbled as he walked back to the beach, disheartened from losing his ship.

They spent the rest of the night picking up what they could salvage of the Duran, while Kynoto and Triasha went to the forest to look for firewood. In a short while Kynoto and Triasha returned with a relatively large pile of wood. They got a fire going and Kynoto caught them some dinner. Once they had finished they went to sleep. Kynoto was up late into the night, pondering on what that power could have been. It had been passing through his mind for eight hours before sleep, eventually, over swept him. When he awoke, he saw that Triasha had already had some exercise. A particularly large Trianchu stone was laying on the ground in front of him.

“That must have been some creature, eh Triasha?” Kynoto said groggily. Triasha only nodded. Once Wantene and Rouin were up they set off into the forest, trailed by the pirate crew. They didn’t want to be left alone again; evidently they were afraid of the Obsidian monsters. The reason for this little excursion was to find the source of the power that could still be felt. Kynoto had some idea of what it might be but he was not about to speek his mind for he could easily be wrong. The trees were now thinning out, surprisingly, and a clearing could be seen ahead. Kynoto was the first one there and what he saw stopped him in his tracks. The others entered the clearing and gawked at what the saw. It looked rather like a small, thick tree but it was glowing. The four men could feel the power irradiating from it. The pirates came crashing into the clearing, knocking over Kynoto, Triasha, Wantene, and Rouin. Through the jumbled mess of men, Xilots’ voice was heard,

“What the blazes is that thing?!”

“It’s this forests’ source; its center; its core. This is what makes it possible for the trees to do what they can…” Kynoto said, interrupted by Xilot,

“Act human you mean?”

“Exactly. Whoa, it’s losing its power…what’s that?!”
Kynoto exclaimed as he felt a power that was masked by the forest. It was a little weaker then the forest but now that the forests’ power had gone down, it shown through immensely.

“I don’t know but it’s coming this way!” Wantene shouted. The pirates scrambled back into the forest whilst the other four remained. From the deep blue sky came a man, roughly in his fifties. He had greenish-gold colored eyes, sandy brown hair, like Wantene’s, and he was well built, no doubt from many grueling hours of training.

“What are you doing on my island?” he demanded, he had a tenor voice.

“We were not aware that this was ‘your’ island,” Wantene said cockily as he drew his sword. The man looked at him thoughtfully.

“Wantene, don’t be daft! Put your sword away,” Kynoto urged, knowing full well that Wantene would get himself killed.

“Well well, what have we here? Feisty, this one is,” said the man as looked at Wantene, “but you know, Kynoto had the right idea, since I am a stranger to you, you have no notion of what powers I might possess.” Kynoto said, bewilderment saturating his voice,

“How do you know my name?”

“Well that is easy. I knew your parents. Let’s see, who have we here. Ah, yes, Triasha Velosh, Rouin and Kynoto Haikashi, and Wantene Mitsurugi. Curious, isn’t it, that Wantene, your brother Kynoto, has not the same last name as you. Have you ever wondered why? Its because he isn’t really your brother, not by blood at least. Now for me, I am Lelono Mitsurugi. Wantene is my son. I had to leave him in the care of your parents when I went off on a quest. It was on that quest that I gained this curse; unnaturally long life carried out by a tool of destruction. Yes, it was on that quest that I learned Trianchu,” Lelono said, his eyes roving from person to person until they landed on Xilot. “And who might you be. You’re a pirate by the looks of you.”

“Very astute, that ya are laddy. I am Julian Dresk Vetrinal Xilot III. Me crew jus call me Cap’n or Captain Xilot,” the old pirate said proudly.

“I have one question. Why have you bothered us for?” Kynoto asked carefully, Lelono has his hand on the hilt of his sword.

“To take Wantene and train him the proper way, not by the teachings of your father. His way was too slow and pain staking. My training plan got me to where I am today in a little under two months. Wantene could become what I am in at least one month. Now if you’ll excuse us, we must get going,” Lelono said starting to pull of Wantene’s arm.

“What if he doesn’t want to go,” Kynoto retorted.

“Trust me, he wants to come. He is only interested in power, like me,” Lelono shouted, getting ready to unsheathe his sword. Wantene stopped him immidatly and said,

“He’s right Kynoto. I am sorry, but he is my father, so if you choose to fight him, I will have to fight you as well. I guess this is goodbye for now Kynoto, Rouin, Triasha, and Captain,” Wantene said as he nodded and flew off with his father. Kynoto shouted at him,

“You realize that if we do ever meet again that we will be enemies and that I will not hold back against you don’t you?!” Wantene muttered under his breath,

“I know, I know.” Thus the group of five whittled down to four. Kynoto took one last glance and turned around, heading back to the beach.
I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes....Or should I?

Chapter 5

Wantene's Power

As Wantene and his father flew to his training grounds, Wantene wondered if he had done the right thing. Then his father’s voice broke his meditation,

“You did the correct thing son. By coming with me you have insured that you can gain full control over your powers.” Wantene was amazed that his father could read his mind. They did not speak again until they reached the grounds. “Here is where you will be trained in the art of Shendo. Shendo is a sub branch of Trianchu that is purely elemental in its nature of attacks and weapons. Let me see that sword Wantene,” his dad said, carefully inspecting the sword. “Hmm, a marvelous specimen, an Elemental Shigathian blade. Yet it is a useless piece of junk for this style of fighting.” He threw the sword into the river.

“What are you doing?!” Wantene exclaimed.

“The sword is useless when using Shendo,” Lelono said sternly.

“I know I know, but it is worth a lot of money, we could sell it,” Wantene shouted. As Wantene finished saying this, he heard a splash. His father had dove into the river after the sword. He immerged ten minutes later, covered in seaweed and piranhas, to see Wantene laughing so hard that he fell over backwards.

Later that day they went into town and sold the sword for ten thousand kintaries, which was considered a small fortune. They bought some food, water, and supplies. When they got back to Lelono’s cabin, Lelono outlined what exactly he would be teaching Wantene and gave him a target schedule:

Week One: Gain twenty percent more power and learn all level one Shendo attacks.
Week Two: Gain thirty percent more power and learn all level two Shendo attacks.
Week Three: Work on Shendo level three attacks and learn the Shastin style.
Week Four: Gain sixty percent more power and learn final Shendo attacks and work on level one and two Shastin attacks.
Week Five: Work on level three, four, and five Shastin attacks, master the Shendo style and master all level one and two Shastin attacks.
Week Six to Ten: gain one hundred percent more power and master the branch styles Shastin, Shendo levels two through six, and the Shigathian elemental style. Bring out some latent powers and use them to greatly alter the elements. Final test over all aspects from the last five weeks.

“As you can see, it is rather rigorous, but you should have no problem in completing it,” Lelono told Wantene. They began training immediately and Wantene was gaining power fairly quick. By his sixth week he was ready to master Shendo and the Shastin style, as well as the Shigathian elemental blade style. By the last day on the schedule, Wantene had increased his overall power by five hundred and ninety percent; well over what his father intended, and he had mastered all of the branch styles including Shendo, Shastin, SEBS (Shigathian Elemental Blade Style), Kelosg, and the particularly hard style of Othnosgilth. Lelono did not intend for Wantene to learn so much, but it was out if his hands. Wantene had requested to learn them so he could not disagree. Lelono thought that the time was ripe and bought a troll off the black market.

“Alright Wantene, you have grown extremely fast so you might not be able to control your powers just yet, but I have a solution. This here is a troll, I want you to train on it for a few weeks,” Lelono instructed Wantene who turned and walked inside saying,

“I won’t fight it.” In the end his dad forced him too. The first training session was going well until Wantene slipped on a wet stone. The troll pounced on him, crushing him underneath its considerable weight. Lelono ran over and killed the troll with a quick stab to its head. He pushed it off of his sons’ now mangled and lifeless body. One look and Lelono was on his knees. After he got over the shock he dug a grave and buried his son.

Chapter 6

The Power

“Come off it Kynoto,” said Triasha, “it was bound to happen sooner or later. I have been sensing an evil growing in him ever since we found them.” Kynoto had been sulking around ever since Wantene left their company and was not doing much of anything. “We had better find shelter soon. There is a storm coming,” Triasha said suddenly to the group. It was like clockwork. Right after Triasha had said this, the sky clouded over and it began to rain. This storm was ferocious and it was wreaking havoc on the dying forest, ripping up dead trees and causing them to knock over others in the process. “What is with this storm?!” Triasha asked himself.

“This one’s goin’ ta be a big one, mark me on that,” Xilot said slowly.

“How do you know that?” Kynoto asked him suspiciously. This was the first time he had spoken since Wantene had left.

“Because, I have seen all manners of storms out on the sea, but this one be’s the first of its kind I’ve ever spied before,” the old pirate whispered to the men around him. Now everyone looked up at the storm, which had now covered almost the entire forest and the forest was roughly around fifty kilometers in diameter. Sensing something, Kynoto grabbed everyone and rushed them into a cave on a near by hill. Just as they entered it, the rain came down in torrents, as if someone had just lifted a sluice gate on a river. A stream near the shelter was now overflowing and the storm was only intensifying with every minute that passed. “What in the name of Davie Jones’ locker is causing this storm?!” the Captain yelled over the gale.

“I have no idea,” Triasha answered, flabbergasted at the power of the storm. Most of the forest floor had been flooded.

Meanwhile, at the training grounds, Lelono was also marveling at the ferocity of the storm.

“Where did this come from? We weren’t supposed to get any rain until next week,” Lelono said, his voice saturated with amazement as he looked out of his window. The rain seemed to be coming down in gallons now, along with the wind and lightning, the storm was unbelievable. By now Lelono could tell something was wrong. “The forest has a lot of power, but it wouldn’t destroy itself plus it doesn’t have this much power. It’s just too big,” Lelono continued talking to himself. Then for some unseen reason, the rain stopped. Intrigued, Lelono ventured out side to see what had occurred. He looked up to see the blackest clouds he had ever seen. There were several flashes of lightning, and then something strange happened. Lelono was standing in front of Wantene’s grave, searching for even a miniscule amount of power when a bolt of lightning hit it. The shock made Lelono jump back wards, and then he slipped on some mud and fell to the ground. He looked to Wantene’s grave and saw that it had caught fire and all he could do was sit there and watch his past burn away in front of him. Then to Lelono’s greatest surprise, the flame turned blue and he felt an extremely horrific power.

At that exact moment back at Kynoto’s camp Triasha, Rouin, and Kynoto noticed the power. They were having a ‘debate’ about what they were to do after the storm had stopped but now they all stared in the direction the power was coming from, not saying a word. Even Xilot could sense something was not right and he couldn’t even feel the powers of others for he had not the skill of Trianchu. Triasha stood up and said, his voice shaking with fear,

“K-kynoto, do you feel that?”

“Yes, I do, and what in the hell is it? It’s immense. The power level is over six billon and….it’s still rising!!” Kynoto shouted in disbelief. “Okay, okay. Let’s keep our heads clear. We will go investigate this monstrosity. Xilot, you and your crew must stay here. If you go you’ll only get in the way and die,” Kynoto said sternly to the pirates.

“You’ll get no argument from me laddy. Even tough I can’t use Trianchu; I can feel something in the air. It’s more then enough to make me want to stay righ’ where I am. Alright ya bunch of swashbucklers, get inside and keep yer mouths shut!” Xilot commanded his troop. He nodded one last time to Kynoto and entered the cave. Triasha covered up the cave with a boulder, but left several holes around the edges so that the pirates could breath and eventually so that they could use their explosives to get out. Kynoto, Triasha, and Rouin then left in the direction of the power, unknowingly going to face their worst fears.

Back at the grounds, Lelono was looking at the grave of his recently deceased son in amazement. He got up and went to go lay down for a while, he wasn’t felling all to well. He was about to open the door, when an explosion sounded and nearly gave him a heart attack. As he looked back at the grave, he noticed that the flames were now black and that there was someone standing in them.

“No…no…. it can’t be!” he shouted.

“Oh but it is,” the shadowed figure said with a malicious grin, “Father.” Wantene had been revived, but there was something different about him besides the evil that now filled his heart. “Now, where are Kynoto and those other fools, I have a score to settle,” Wantene said, his voice now high pitched. “Ahh, where they come,” Wantene chuckled. When Kynoto landed, his voice filled with shock and dread as he said,

“How did you gain that power Wantene?”

“It was very easy actually Kynoto. I just let myself be killed and I had my storm revive me. When that happened the forest gave me its power. It viewed me as a god and sacrificed its power to save me,” Wantene hissed. “Now get ready, I have a score to settle with you three, the blood will flow today; whether it be mine or yours, it will flow!”
I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes....Or should I?

Chapter 7

The True Evil Revealed

As Kynoto and the rest looked upon Wantene, he raised his hand and shot a bolt of lightning at them. Fortunately, they all scattered before it hit them.

“This is interesting. I don’t sense anything now,” Kynoto said, looking intently at Wantene, “Where has all your power gone?” This question was met by a shrill laugh from Wantene as he said,

“You thought that was my power? Well I have a surprise for you then Kynoto, hahaha.” Wantene was again engulfed in flame. Everyone jumped back in surprise. Then they felt it; the evil, the collectively immense power. It was generated not by Wantene, but by the forest. It was as if Wantene was feeding off its anger; becoming a tool of it’s vengeance upon the world. When the fire had dissipated, what they saw and felt terrified them all. Wantene was standing in front of them and he had a black aura around him strong enough to be seen by the naked eye. It now started to rain again. As the rain fell around Wantene’s aura, it was as if it was some material force that was pushing outward, the rain was pushed away from Wantene in all directions. Wantene bore an evil grin as Kynoto said despairingly,

“Then it’s settled, you are a messenger of evil after all Wantene. I tried to change your destiny, but I failed.”

“Now now Kynoto, you of all people should realize that destiny can not be changed, no matter how hard you fight against it. It was my destiny to become this as it is yours to fall by my hand,” Wantene said, for a moment reverting back to his old self.

“I should have stolen your soul when I had the chance!” Triasha interjected.

“Ah, Triasha, you should have but you didn’t, heh, now you will see the end result of your folly,” Wantene uttered. Kynoto, now enraged, let his anger flow through him making his power skyrocket. Triasha did the same, but his hate was much greater then Kynoto’s.

“Ah, you’re using your anger this time huh? Well, this should get interesting and I have always wanted to see Kynoto as a Shadow Angel,” Wantene smirked as he said this, knowing that he could manipulate Kynoto and Triasha through their hate. He held all the strings, he had only to pull the right ones and he could beat the pair of them easily. “Hmm, now, who should I kill first,” Wantene said as his eyes roamed over the three, landing on Triasha. “Ah, yes, him.”

“Rouin move!!” Triasha yelled and Rouin complied. He went as fast as he could around the compound but his speed was still no match for Wantene. As soon as Rouin began to slow down, Wantene appeared in front of him and punched his hand through Rouin’s stomach, killing him instantly. Kynoto and Triasha looked on horror struck as what was left of Rouin fell to the ground. The both of them had a huge surge of anger swell up inside of them and they let it draw out their powers.

“Ah, finally Kynoto shows his true face, and what’s this? Triasha has something to show me too. Ah, a Hyper Demon, how fitting,” Wantene jeered. Together Triasha’s and Kynoto’s power equaled around a billion, but it wasn’t enough. “Let’s see how you handle this and we will go from there. Shastin level one attack, Death Tornado!” Wantene yelled. There was a rumbling from overhead that caused Triasha and Kynoto to look upwards. The clouds had lowered and shifted a little. Then a funnel appeared in the center of the mass above them, it came down and engulfed them in a frenzy of wind and rain. Soon the rain hardened into spikes of ice and they were slashing the duo. When the attack was over, they both were injured greatly. “Aww, so much damage from a low level attack like that? How pathetic!” Wantene sneered, “Well, then, let’s finish you off shall we? Shendo level fifteen attack, Double Spire!” This attack usually only sent one lightning bolts down, but since there were two targets, Wantene modified it. The bolts of supercharged lightning hit Kynoto and Triasha while they were off guard. If they hadn’t been standing on a wooden deck, it would have killed them. “What? Haha, how lucky you two are. Now I wil..” but Wantene never finished this sentence because of Kynoto and Triasha. They had cast a spell that Wantene had never thought possible, since they were the opposite of one another; one an angle and the other a demon.

“We haven’t unleashed our powers yet Wantene, no but now we will!!” Kynoto and Triasha said in unison.

“Lets see how you handle a Shadow Angel!” shouted Kynoto as he morphed into his ultimate stage, an angel with two white wings and one black one in the center of the other two.

“And let’s see what he things of a Hyper Demon!” Triasha yelled as he was transformed into a vision of Hells worst nightmare.

“Well well, isn’t this a surprise, and I tought you weren’t holding back either. Let me tell you a secret, I have been holding back, but only a little, heh,” Wantene said as his power went up another 20 billion. Together Triasha and Kynoto now totaled a power level of 50 billion, but Wantene’s power level was 400 billion.

“Still not enough, damn it. Triasha, lets do this,” Kynoto whispered to Triasha.

“Eh, what’s this? No way, you can’t do that. There is no way that an angel and a demon can fuse together, oh crap, wait, Kynoto is a Shadow Angel, oh no way!” Wantene yelled in agony as he saw what was about to unfold.

“Yes Wantene, we are going to do that!” Triasha said, a smirk crept on his face.

“When the Demon and Angel unite, together they will become a godly being and all that stand in their way will be annihilated!” Triasha and Kynoto said together as they floated into the air and then into one another. The sky turned black and a white spot appeared in the darkness. It grew until it ended in a blinding flash. The sky returned to its previous state and there floated a horror far beyond Wantene’s ability. A Shadow Demon; it had the three wings of a Shadow Angel but it looked like a Hyper Demon. It let out a primitive roar that smote Wantene’s confidence. The abomination flew down and dug its claws into the back of Wantene, gripping him in a deadly hug. It began to grow hot as it began to glow a fiery red. Wantene knew what was to happen, it was going to self-destruct, sending all of them into the abyss.

“No way, there is no way in Hell that I will be beaten like this!!” Wantene roared, “Oslgith level fifty attack, Final Blast!!” The storm condensed and flew towards the creature, hitting it dead square in the back, and then exploded with the force of fifteen nuclear bombs, but this did not even scathe the Shadow Demon. Wantene’s last words as he was blasted to hell were,

“I’ll be back, I always come back!!!” The demon uttered in a Satan-God like tone,

“As will I Wantene, and I will beat you again and again if I must!” and with that, they were wiped from the face of the earth for the time being. Peace ensued and the storm was gone, the forest regenerated itself and all was peaceful for many years to come. The pirates created a small colony and lived on Solomon Island, creating weapons to kill the Obsidian monsters with so that they would not be threatened. Xilot could often be found in the center or the village telling the tale of Wantene, Kynoto, Rouin, and Triasha to the children. Once in a wile he would look up to the sky and wonder when they would be back.
I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes....Or should I?
