To go with the Summoner Homebrew Class.

Currently, this thread is for spitballing summons to see what sticks. Mainly fluff. We can add stats to anything we like later.

Template
Name:
Alignment:
Rank: (Lesser/Greater/Herald Servant)
Sacrifice (Heralds only):
Powers:
Personality:

Example
Posted Image
Name: Ifrit
Alignment: Malal
Rank: Herald
Sacrifice: Burn something that you have emotional attachment to on top of a proper summoning circle. Bonus points for burning someone important to you as tribute to Malal.
Powers: Incredibly strong and tough, flames are near impossible to extinguish
Personality: Insatiable desire for death and destruction. Infamous for attacking his summoner after the fighting is supposed to be over.

Edit: I misread information on Heralds. Fixed it so that Ifrit is a Herald instead of a Greater Servant.

Sounds like a good start! But Summoner is basically complete other than the actual summons, and it details them pretty nicely.

The way the class works we don't need to stat up Greater/Lesser servants for each god, though we should probably fluff them out eh?

What we REALLY need to do though is make Heralds for each god, sorted by their pantheons. (The Blessed Pantheon, The Ruinous Powers, The Gray Council)

I suggest we either do one of two things: We either use the current antagonist special quality stuff from book one to hobble together monsters and balance them around each other.

Another option we could do is choose a baseline amount of experience and stat up a mortal hero thing for a Herald for each god, a skilled non-exalt to be summoned based on the whims of the gods.

I also think that the heralds should follow their gods commandments TO THE LETTER, to the point of disobeying the summoner unless they spend a resource point or use the command spell or something.

Opinions?

I'm not quite sure of how we should stat summons either, but I think we could use some of the antagonist qualities to make unique statlines for each. They would need about 27 Attribute dots (not counting the first ones) and 18 Skill dots to work with.

I agree that Heralds should follow their god's laws to the letter. It's what they're made for. A summoner is renting them from their god, so they better follow the rules.

Here are some more.

Name: The Salesman
Alignment: I want to say either Tzeentch, Vectron, or Unaligned
Rank: Herald
Sacrifice: Money, and a lot of it.
Powers: Can connect you with Summons from any pantheon. The stronger the Summon, the harder the Wealth roll.
Personality: Manipulative and shady as hell, like a used car salesman.

Name: Mara
Alignment: Chaos/Slaanesh
Rank: Herald Servant
Sacrifice: Virgin sacrifice, or at least someone's virginity
Powers: Extremely powerful magic, especially fire.
Personality: Incredibly manipulative, often playing the role of a tempter. Can be a dick sometimes.

Name: Crazy Taxi
Alignment: Unaligned
Rank: Herald
Sacrifice: Taxi fare and a can do attitude.
Powers: Will attempt to get you from point A to point B as fast as possible, pedestrians and traffic laws be damned.
Personality: YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH

Instead of "The Salesman" why not Crazy Hassan?

Crazy Hassan's Used Camel Summons? Not a bad idea.

Sorry if I was being vague, but The Salesman is the Nightmare Enterprises spokesman from the Kirby tv show. He hooked up DeDeDe with his monsters of the week, so I thought he could do the same here.

I chortled heartily at Crazy Taxi.

Also, I'm getting a very Yojimbo vibe from Salesman for no particularly good reason.

Name: Jack Frost
Alignment: Unaligned
Lesser Summon
Sacrifice: Ice cream
Powers: Ice generation
Personality: Cheerful. Says "HE HO" a lot.

Name: Pixie
Alignment: Pelor
Lesser Summon
Sacrifice: A pretty flower
Powers: Healing
Personality: Cheerful and mischievous

Name: Thanatos
Alignment: Raven Queen
Herald
Sacrifice: Either several years off your life, or only using Thanatos to attack those who break the Raven Queen's laws. Anything you attack with Thanatos must be killed, so capture missions are a no no.
Powers: Causes a fear effect against any living thing in the area, excluding the summoner.
Personality: None, but it always looks super pissed off when fighting the undead

Name: Foo Fighters
Alignment: Slaanesh
Herald
Sacrifice: High quantities of water.
Powers: Body is made up of plankton, and can separate at will. Can also shapeshift and shoot out plankton from its body like bullets.
Personality: Incredibly curious. If not given something to drink once per scene, FF will walk about on its own to find some.

Name: Doomrider
Alignment: Cocaine (Slaanesh)
Herald
Sacrifice: Lots and lots of drugs. Enough for Doomrider. If you don't know how much is enough, open a portal to the elemental plane of cocaine and try summoning him. There is a chance that he will either take the drugs and fight for you, or take the drugs and leave.
Powers: Being a daemon prince, he's just as dangerous as he sounds. Being higher than holy warp all day every day, he's even more dangerous than he should be.
Personality: Incredibly unpredictable.

Hey guys, author of the Summoner here! Thanks for your efforts in getting this thing ready for publication.

I went ahead and finished/simplified the summoning mechanics, as you can see in the link at the top of the thread. Lesser/Greater Servants are now just stat buffs to the existing spell, as per Soulblazer's advice. Heralds are unique characters with 3,000 - 5,000 XP. This way, the player can build whatever they want, but I still like the idea of making pre-made Summons for each alignment as an example (or shortcut for lazy people). The Heralds would make for great monsters, too.

Let me know what you think!

Alright, let's try this with the new rules. As always, we can start with the humble Pixie.

Pixie of Pelor
Attributes: Charisma and Fellowship
Skills: Charm, Medicae, Performer, and Persuasion
Feats: Spell Specialization (Healing)
Abilities: Cure Light Wounds, Stun

You didn't specify how many spells they can have, so I added two.

Bloodletter of Khorne

Attributes: Strength and Constitution
Skills: Weaponry, Brawl, Intimidate, Athletics
Feats: Frenzy, Berserk Charge
Abilities: Daemonic, Fear 1

Decided to try having traits share space with spells instead of feats. Should they maybe just get to pick 4 spells/traits/feats?
