To go with the Summoner Homebrew Class.

Currently, this thread is for spitballing summons to see what sticks. Mainly fluff. We can add stats to anything we like later.

Template
Name:
Alignment:
Rank: (Lesser/Greater/Herald Servant)
Sacrifice (Heralds only):
Powers:
Personality:

Example
Posted Image
Name: Ifrit
Alignment: Malal
Rank: Herald
Sacrifice: Burn something that you have emotional attachment to on top of a proper summoning circle. Bonus points for burning someone important to you as tribute to Malal.
Powers: Incredibly strong and tough, flames are near impossible to extinguish
Personality: Insatiable desire for death and destruction. Infamous for attacking his summoner after the fighting is supposed to be over.

Edit: I misread information on Heralds. Fixed it so that Ifrit is a Herald instead of a Greater Servant.

The thing is, the summoning rules are massive and wouldn't fit well in the feats section. So I think it would be good to have a tiny section in Book 3 that just goes over the rules and presents a couple of examples.

But yeah, dumping most of the Heralds etc. into the Monster book is best.

We should come up with similar generic monster creation rules (I know someone put that in a to-do list somewhere) so that they can be part of the same thing.

Edit: While I'm posting things;

Yochlol, Greater Servant of Lolth

Attributes: Strength, Dexterity and Fellowship
Skills: Charm, Disguise, Forbidden Lore, Larceny, Politics, Stealth
Traits: Amorphous, Dark Sight
Feats: Peer (Dark Eldarin)
Spells: Disguise

Considering the growing list of things I'd like to add, but aren't numerous enough to warrant their own section, I should probably just get to making a "Misc. Additional Rules" section, already.

Well here's a thought, Doc:

The Servants aren't actually very complicated or long-winded at all. It's the Heralds (who are basically monsters) that basically need their own creation ruleset. Could the Heralds perhaps just fit somewhere in the Antagonists section?

EDIT: Actually the Herald rules aren't that much longer than the Mechanicus Implants feat description, so whatever man do what you want. I'll edit it based on whichever section you want it in, so just let me know.

Putting them in the Antagonist section would probably make the most sense, with a subsection for creation. Hell, some GM's might use such a subsection to make baddies of their own to put together, so it probably wouldn't hurt to flesh it out a fair bit.

That's what I was hoping for. I'd really like some monster creation rules but I'm not confident enough to make them myself.

...But neither am I. The Herald rules are nowhere near that robust.

But I guess I could work on that. How long til the next update?

Not sayin' they have to be robust, just somethin' to make quick-'n'-dirty monsters if it strikes the GM's fancy. Anybody who wants to go real in depth will just throw something of their own together, I feel.

And the next update will be... eventually. As with most of my updates. :P

I'm thinking starting with basic templates at level 1 and then allowing DMs to build on with XP depending on level.
The difficulty is figuring out what a balanced amount is and how much things that can't normally be bought (like size) should cost.

An interesting/easy thing we could do is make a template system like "skeletal" "cyborg" "elder" so that you can easily buff up existing monsters and make them sound like DtD bullshit
