So Highwind made an exaltation, T_A made a different exaltation, Eisenritter made some edits to it, and they both got into book 3 despite stepping on each other's toes. Then it all went to shit and I started from square 1. Fluff: Spoiler: click to toggle Crunch: Spoiler: click to toggle Assets: Spoiler: click to toggle

Since we already have the mainstay transforming heroes (Power Rangers and Magical Girls), perhaps the Font could be retool to some schmuck suddenly infused with tons of volatile power at his disposal? |

I fix. Strictly speaking, we don't actually have magical girls/boys yet; Midboss's writeup is still a bit unpolished and, if I may say so, a bit too wrapped up in its own fluff to allow for concepts outside it... |

Seriously. in regard to points raised (sorry for not being around, I've been playing too much vidya and doing too little brewing) In my mind the idea of spending a drop every round for no benefit except maintaining the avatar was too much cost for not enough benefit. as Eisenritter said, dropping it brought up complaints of avatar mode just being too good or not flavorful enough. the soft tax was a but if a compromise. mostly I expect the price to be paid with +1k0 and occasionally reactions (or lightning attack type "reactions"). these felt thematic because it encouraged being bombastic, if you have to spend a drop then spend it to make yoyr special attack, trick shot or spell combo work, or add another die to that stunt. you refresh your pool every combat, and are encouraged to spend them every combat. yes, you may run out of gas but that seems most likely to happen when you are not being a big damn hero, and it was a better option than just a hard tax. I'd love to hear other options or ideas to rebalance, the current option was basically a third path between lose a drop every turn just to keep the avatar on, and avatar being practically free. being able to spend drops for damage at 5 stars isn't a bad idea, making the power a real actual double edged sword could be a nice bit of oomph for a capstone. I like the idea of shouting attack names, but I don't want to bake it into the exalt for the same reason I decided not to include a transformation trinket. while very indicative of source material, it just doesn't add enough mechanically. that is something that can and I agree should be roleplayed, but by leaving it out the exaltation allows for concets outside of the sentai/rider/magical girl standard. a lot of 80s and 90s western cartoons had transforming heros without named moves that could be fonts as well, just for an example. It's something I might add into the description, but not something that seems appropriate to hang rules on. edit: rereading the class and book 1, just bumping up the max number of drops might be appropriate. I knocked off some when the avatar had no upkeep so it wasn't just way better than the werewolf's time limited warform. I don't think I bumped it up when the soft tax was instated. Using Drops for Special Attacks/Spells/Trick Shots seems fair. |

I'm not sure I understand how exactly this is meant? I'm just gonna start callling the custom move trifecta named moves. are you proposing that using a named move requires you to spend a drop or is it being suggested you should be able to spend a drop to do something to your move and if so, what? |

I'm suggesting that in order to use custom moves in your Avatar Form, you need to spend a Drop first. Feel free to tack on a bonus to using that move in Avatar Form if it belongs to your Signature Style.

Without a bonus this feels silly, why can I do my cool thing in normal mode, but when I'm actually all kitted out in my exalted pants the same cool move costs me extra effort? I'd like to encourage the use of named moves rather than tax it. |

What kind of bonus, then? 1k0, 0k1, or 1k1? |

I honestly don't know. I really don't like the idea of taxing resources to do something a character is already capable of, even if there is upside. Resources are the in-game currency for doing cool things. all the generic resource stat options are exalted being better than everyone. every exalted ability that costs resources is a thing you opt to do because it is cool. I don't think being slightly better at a thing warrants a mandatory expenditure of resources. we could give every named move +1k0 at the cost of a resource, but a player could just do that anyway at their convenience, or spend the resource on a reaction instead, or whatever and have some amount of agency in what denomination of cool their avatar costs. |

rejiggered max Channel slightly. Increased cap on friendship drops. regardless of what happens to the avatar tax, the exaltation could probably use a little more wiggle room on resources. |
