I get what you're going for, but the mechanics are exactly at odds with what you're tryig to evoke. Damage in game is the only quantity that reflects whether something hurts. in fact, damage that gets through armor but not resilience is basically an ineffectual scratch or a flesh wound. if it doesn't cause damage then a character, and certainly a player, probably doesn't care. Fatigue is better than nothing, but that still only drives the character into sleepy time. passig out repeatedly might emulate a character stuck in severe delirium, but not sadistic pain. if you want mindbreak drag sanity or fear checks into it. nonlethal damage evokes a thought of pulling punches and sparing someone the worst of it, it does not evoke "pain without harm." hell, the exact same rider was used for nanoha's befriending with maximum firepower. you know, the kind where you can walk away from it and don't get PTSD from the person who did it to you. moreover, this is all in the context of combat, not a cozy torture den. even then, Lolth is the goddess of "fuck you, I got mine" she should be encouraging the equivalent of ranged thumb screws or ripping out the soft bits and if the other guy dies too bad, he was fragile. slow arduous torture seems way more slaaneshi. |

Precisely wrong. Description tells you whether something hurts. Pain is, in point of fact, a response that tells you "this will cause damage, stop doing this." Damage is merely the result of ignoring it.
That's a problem with the players, not the system. In the interest of not dragging this out further, I stand by what I've written. You don't like it, write one yourself, same as before.[/s] EDIT: Okay, head's cooled a bit... still stand by it, though. Lolth's list of shalt-nots encourages a certain level of sadism that I've chosen (ha!) to reflect in her Mark. If you don't like that, you are welcome to post an alternative to be added (by which I mean "quoted and attributed") into the OP. In fact, if you want to contribute anything here now I'll be doing that anyway, seeing as the first page kinda got swallowed up by what in retrospect comes off as a pissing contest...

then in the same interest, I'll just leave it at "I still don't like it." I guess If that's what I'm leaving it at, I should deliver. Mark of Lolth It's no secret that Lolth hates men, but she encourages no healthy degree of sadism among her followers. Any enemy that takes at least one damage from an attack you make must immediately roll on the shock table, as Lolth always guides your hand where it hurts most. and while I'm here: Mark of Dispassionate Clarity Your eyes survey the entire Wheel, and you know your place in it. You benefit from Leeway as long as you are doing something to maintain balance in the cosmos. In addition, you can spend 2 Favor to gain the benefits of a single Chosen asset associated with one of the Grey Council for the remainder of the Scene. Spoiler: click to toggle

...For the record, the reason I didn't make a Mark for the Council as a whole is because there isn't an actual alignment for it. The seventh "neutral" alignment is Unaligned.

I noticed that too, but it is a pantheon in book 1, and I worded it to be less concerned with honoring the pantheon and more about being unaligned anyway. |

Alright, making sure before I moved that one. EDIT: All two assets not made by myself have been quoted into the OP. Edited by Eisenritter, Jun 23 2015, 12:19 PM.

There could be a Mark of Athar for the truly Unaligned. |

Added some (provisional!) racial assets for the "official" to the OP, mostly based on ones Soulblazer had theorized. Changes to be made later, but terminology was switched to prevent a Human from poaching another race's feat. |

Finished out the Paragon assets for the "official" races, marked out the ones that are completely unchanged from Soulblazer's table... aside from those, I only bilked names! |

Looking good for most of them. Perhaps a suggestion for the Halfling Paragon Asset Shiftier [Halfling, Paragon] Every round in combat, you may use the Shift action once as a Free Action on your turn. Basically, just the Racial Power Halflings had in the first version of DtD before it was changed to what they have now with their Static Defense. |
