Iron Kings of Warhammer: AT-42,000; a wargame for the setting

My idea is for a wargame where base shapes matter alot. Different factions or sometimes even units in those factions have different shaped bases, both fluffy and crunchy as some factions have regimented tactics with standard formations(square), others are too guerrilla or wild to form up and rely on abilities or brute strength(round), or are freaky alien things with odd but effective formations(hexagons)

The game would be conversion heaven and when the rule book is assembled should ideally have paper flat printouts included, but the ideal end game is a set of 3-D models for those with 3-D printers. as for the setting I plan on using the 2 original books, the big book of brew and material that a a collaborator called RaynManD is making (of which he has onlu posted a hint of so far)

HQ rules would be based on character creation, and allies based on point costs to ensure that the more outlandish alliances are possible but more difficult to do

I make no claim to being a good designer but I felt the need to get feed back on this

and now a narration

In the Great Wheel, most conflicts are locked in a cold war, but within this segment, death's rules are looser, and thus with less consequence the wars went hot all at once. The Modron Legions bring senseless destruction to all they find in their death march. The Ruinous powers constantly war for who will take over. The Sphere's Alliance struggles as mere mortals with the help of the Divine Pantheon's Angels and Asamar. The Syrn's disciples defend themselves and their cause from the encroaching horror of the Nightbringer's Reapers, hellbent on extinction with the help of their Unitologist followers. Ork Warbands and Kython swarms but heads against eachother and Githyanki armadas constantly. Countless dead kingdoms of the Therians rise up to make clear that their claim to these spheres is the oldest of all. All while Eldarin Migrant Fleets make their move against Warforged Colonies.

For in the Grim Darkness of the Great Wheel, there is only War

I don't play wargames, so I wouldn't know where to help you on that.

On the narration, there are a few errors. For one, several words are capitalized for no reason. There are also some spelling errors, and some grammar issues with run-on sentences. Lastly, Geth were renamed to Warforged a while back.

oh, I see that my copy is out dated again, I'll get to corrections in a moment, I rely too much on spell check, think in run-ons and capitalization is a reflex I have when my head thinks words are importaint.

The name change wasn't added to any of the books yet, so your confusion is justified.

Ha ha, nope. In fact we've started a massive frenzy of additions/changes in the last few weeks.

this is important as he was working on his additions and from what I see on forums they have overlap with some of these plans, some of the already in place ideas may be better and some of his ideas might improve what you have, his Salarians may be better Slaad than the Slaad for all we know

Book 3 will be finished when we run out of things to put in it. If you want to track the things that aren't in the book, look in the Book 3 thread for when Doc linked the most recent edition of the book. It's been a few months. Everything made since then is new and not in the book.

Also, I'm a bit curious about what you mean when you say "his Salarians may be better Slaad than the Slaad for all we know". I mean, you can look at the two races and make that opinion yourself. I'm obligated to say that I like my Slaad more than his Salarians.

I guess I liked the flavor a bit more, I feel like the best thing would be to fold the concepts together

Well, they both have similar origins, being frogmen created by the Syrne. RaynManD didn't elaborate on much else, but I can assume that his Salarians take elements from Bullywugs and Slann. Other than that, I don't think that our different interpretations of the crunch and fluff of are compatible.
