I think there's an idea or two to mine from Yog-Sothoth, being the Outer God of time (and space, but the first is more important), but locked out of it himself.

One thing is what kind of forbidden knowledge the characters must have and other thing is the lore for the players

Of course the origin of the chronomancer can be something obscure that nobody in universe would know, but we can't just leave it at that when writting the fluff, it would be utmost lazy. Most people like to roleplay the origin of their character.

Erased from history doesn't really make much sense as in what does that even mean and "it hasn't happened yet" wouldn't slide because the chronomancer controls time, but doesn't travel through it in such way (making dilation in time to get extra actions is what she does)

I want there to be as many possible origins as possible.

I'm not very supportive of that idea. Feels messy and incongruous. I don't see this exaltation as one that allows for much humor of that kind, so I would rather have a more serious approach in the fluff

So we write it out the same way one would write an article over at the SCP Foundation. Write the full thing first, then determine what would be too temporally-damaging to simply be left anywhere, and [REDACT] that "by order of the Ordo Chronos," or something. Possibly preface the whole thing with "The Following Document Has Been Deemed Free of Temporally Hazardous Information by the Ordo Chronos," or something like.

Time Wizards is in the mix, so yes, it should be.

Something that you could never tell from just looking at the mechanics that we have written.
Ironically enough, it is debatable if LOS MAGOS DEL TIEMPO would be chronomancers since their powers, while almost omnipotent, are actually based on altering a situation based on words and phrases and not time stuff at all.

I think Eisen's idea doesn't seem bad, it's humorous, but could be taken seriously in-universe

Of course.

Big theories:
*Ordos Chronos experimentation
*Time god beyond space handing out Exaltations
*Future event causes Chronomancers in the now

The ordo chronos experimentation could be the thing about the warp affecting the exalted as I've mentioned previously, so we could work with that. The future events would need to be something a bit more specific

Is there a time God to begin with? If not I wouldn't like the idea of mentioning one just because, it would be out of sync with the rest of the lore

Even if there was, I don't think it was a good idea to say "lol, god power" because it would be quite unoriginal, specially when there is an exaltation specifically based on receiving a God's power
