European

From the beginning of humanity's exploration of the Great Wheel, a collective of cultures so strange and ancient spread their customs for anyone willing to adopt them. Those who do find themselves realizing the greater lifestyle they've been missing out on all their lives and consider themselves exalted because of it. They are called Europeans, named after the ancient lands from which the cultures originated.

Power Stat: Heart Grace

Resource Stat: Glamour

Tell:
A European's tell is a gradual exaggeration of their cultural traits like accents and mannerisms, becoming more like a stereotypical caricature of their adopted nationalities as Glamour is spent.

Wacky Masque: Begin play with Speak Language (European) and Peer (European). The specialty provided by Unearthly Countenance to social characteristics is European Extravagance instead of Fae Perfection.

Stereotypical Quirk: Every European has deep ties to their culture. Choose one of the following options when building your character:
  • England: You gain the hindrances High-Falutin' and Law o' the Stars, which does not give additional XP and does not count against the normal limit on hindrances. You also gain the feats Peer (High Society) and Air of Authority.
  • France: You get a -2k1 penalty to Fear tests and you may not buy Fearless, Headstrong and Nerves of Steel—which are treated as optional feats. Add your Heart Grace to your Mental Defense and in opposed tests made against non-Frenchmen.
  • Germany: Start with a Minor Addiction to Alcohol that cannot be removed or cured. You have a static bonus in Advanced skill tests equal to your Heart Grace.
  • Italy: Start with a minor derangement (Hand gestures while talking) and you have -2 on initiative rolls. Begin play with Speak Language (Sign Language), and a free dot and specialty (Cooking) in Craft.
  • Poland: You cannot be a spelljamming officer and ships that you occupy get +2 on Warp Encounter rolls. You gain the feats Hatred (Heretics) and Red Scare.

Heart Grace Power Gained
European Excellence: As Maven Prince
✱✱Unearthly Countenance
✱✱✱Free Health Care: You can perform Healing Surge as a free action as long as you heal at least one Hit Point from spending Glamour. Once per session, you can regenerate a number of wounds equal to your Heart Grace as a free action. Natural healing progresses four times as fast.
✱✱✱✱Otherworldly Noble
✱✱✱✱✱Prosperity: You gain two dots in Wealth to a maximum of seven, as well as four additional dots to place into other backgrounds. In addition, you never lose any Background dots, whether through SM fiat or failing Wealth Strain checks. Allies, artifacts and items from your Inheritance background that become permanently lost are replaced with new ones at the beginning of the next scene.

European Nationality Assets

Dual Citizenship
Choose another Stereotypical Quirk (England, France, Germany, Italy, Poland). You gain the benefits of that option with none of the drawbacks.

Superpower
Choose one of the following instead of the normal Stereotypical Quirk choices.
  • Russia: Once per session you may gain twelve minions (two minion squads), which arrive after 1d10 rounds if called during combat. They have a Threat Rating of 1 with a Damage Rating of 1R (Bayonets) and Ranged 2I (Second-Hand Firearms). You gain the feats Iron Curtain, Redshirt Shield and Worf Effect. Enemies who cannot target you with their attacks must also move closer to you until they can. Increase the Intelligence TN for Worf Effect from 15 to 20.
  • Switzerland: You get a free raise to all Wealth Tests and Prosperity gives you three dots in Wealth instead of two, the maximum of which is still seven. During combat, your Static Defense is halved (round down) once you've take an action with the Attack subtype until the end of the encounter.
  • Vatican City: You may purchase the feats Virgil's Guidance and Pure Faith normally. Begin play with the feat Armor of Contempt and the hindrances Distractable and Magic Allergy.
Militarization
During Character Creation, you may place four dots in attacking skills before other bonuses are applied. Instead of its normal effects, Unearthly Countenance allows you to go up to six dots in physical characteristics and gives you a free specialty (Wartime Training) in each of them. You get a free raise to combat actions (e.g. attacking, dodging, casting attacking spells) but suffer -1k0 to all other tests. You may purchase this as a second Exalted Asset.

Prestige Loan
You may make a TN 10 Wealth test as a Full Action. If you succeed, you regain one point of Glamour plus an additional one for every raise but you must roll for Wealth Strain afterwards.

New World
Do I look like I give a damn if America, home of the brave and land of the free, isn't a European country? Replace your Stereotypcial Quirk with the following.

  • USA: You start the game with the Impulsive and Big Britches Hindrances, which do not grant you additional XP for taking or count towards your normal Hindrance limit. You also gain Fearless and the Academy asset for free. At Heart Grace 3, replace Free Health Care with a bonus to all attack and damage rolls equal to your Heart Grace.

Extremely Confused
I feel like part of the Tell should be that their accent becomes far more pronounced. Supernaturally pronounced.

I feel like you need a fifth Asset. Dunno what country it would be, though - Italy? Greece? One of the Scandinavian ones? Russia (probably not, since this is more Western Europe The Exaltation?)

By the way, European Excellence should probably say that it lets you take an extra Exaltation Asset rather than just straight-up an Exaltation. Also, you should probably add some verbiage about how they can bypass the normal only-two-Assets limitation if you're forcing them to take a Nationality Asset. Or just make that into a Dragonblooded-esque multiple choice power.

...Also, since when are you unable to spend resource points to improve social tests? Did I miss something in the base rules, or is that something from the Tuatha?

Along with mannerism changes and exaggeration. I've added one for now.

I'm trying to template off of Eisenwritter's creation, although France and Spain does feel interchangeable. I'm not well-versed in European stereotypes so I'll probably add more once I learn more about them (and figure out their gameplay niche).

Good catch on the assets thing, I totally did not mean another exaltation. Also, the assets starts to feel less special if I allowed up to three.

Also, as for the resource bit, I think it's inspired from the Tuatha. It's their gimmick, eldritch beings in a masquerade.

Oh, nevermind about the asset thing - I mixed things up, it's only Hindrances that have a limit on them. For some reason I thought that applied to Assets as well. (Maybe it was a thing in an earlier version? I dunno.)

So this has been sitting untouched for a while, but I just came up with a dumb idea about 30 seconds ago. A healing ability entitled "Free Health Care". Mind you I have no idea for what this should actually do specifically, because I'm exhausted right now, but I felt it was too fitting not to pich

Hmm, easier/faster healing, or probably something to aid in wealth. A good ability to replace Iron Bane with.

Currently in vacation, will try to check back next year.

With two Joke exalts (Mary Sue, Toon), I'm inspired to bring back this piece of junk. I've retooled the exaltation assets to be different from the original material, probably focusing on skills and specializations with random quirks attached.

I need suggestions though, I really don't know my Euro memes.

I see Roko online every now and then, but he hasn't touched his iteration of my homebrew. Well, in that case I'm going to finish what I started. I'll go to sleep so I can finish this tomorrow, open for suggestions.

Thanks to Username for helping me fill in the gaps. This alt. exaltation is now complete for the most part (not satisfied with some of the asset names but I'm okay with that).

Funny, the way the assets are arranged makes this seem more like an alternate Dragon-Blooded. I don't remember the reason why I initially made this, maybe it was the idea of sufficiently-alien foreigners?
