Font cost per round

Hey, I'm new here and not sure if this is the right place to ask this but...

I'm a giant Kamen Rider nerd so I love the Font exaltation. I haven't actually gotten the chance to *play* a lot of DtD, but I wanted to ask what the rationale for spending a drop every round to stay in avatar state is. Do DtD combats normally only go a couple of rounds? Otherwise it seems like you have to dump everything you can into Charisma to keep your transformation going, which strikes me as odd. Dunno who wrote it but if you happen to see this and are interested in talking about it, cool!

Deliberately invoked to prevent you from lounging around in your transformed state.

Couldn't that just have been handled by having transformation end when the encounter does, though?

Let's be blunt, the creative process was basically "make Champion and Wellspring" -> "update Wellspring" -> "complain about having both" -> "mash them together" -> "complain about having a per-round cost in the result" -> "complain about not having a per-round cost" -> "complain about it existing at all."

That last one is where we're sitting as of the last time I had any reason to visit 4chan.

It isn't so much its existence I believe. It's more along the lines of parts of it being extremely, extremely powerful. Finishing Move is extremely nasty, and it gets much worse if you combo it with the Asset that gets Proven 5.

In a less function situation, it is extremely combat focused as well. You can hypothetically use the Avatar or Super Mode for other things, but due to the drain and needing combat to refresh it it isn't practical. You'll want to make sure the campaign is going to have a lot of combat before you use it or it will suffer compared to other Exaltations. The only Exalt that comes to my mind as more combat focused is the Strigoi.

EDIT: I think people just got tired of constantly changing it since different people seem to have different things in mind for it. Just glancing over it, I notice the Rush of Power static ability needs some clarifying words. I presume it means Mental, Physical and Social for the Categories it refers to, but you could interpret it as Power, Finesse and Resistance too. Both even, since all 6 are categories.

Meh. At any rate, the final solution that I accepted was simply to make a spell/item that would allow the user to tag a bunch of equipment and summon it onto himself out of nowhere.

Since, y'know, Ghost is a Wraith, Specter's a Sin-Eater, Drive was a Panzer...

Do DtD combats normally only go a couple of rounds?
As someone running a couple DtD campaigns over the past few years, I will say that most combats only last a few rounds. Damage just ends up too high compared to hit points, armor and resilience in general. It is rare for a combat to last much more than 3 rounds unless you're fighting a tough, extended boss battle and I do not recommend that. Combat is also very time consuming due to the amount of dice rolled and the stunting generally involved. It's fun and I really enjoy it, but even a short combat will run you two or three hours in my experience.
For example, a combat I ran last night took about an hour and a half for 2 rounds of combat before it was over.
