I had an idea for an elemental exaltation. Are there any of those yet? I'd like it to be a little of Avatar, the Last Airbender mixed with Infamous style super-powered antics, with blasting galore. Lore to be imagined later. Names of abilities subject to improvement. EDIT:Trying it out as an alternate Dragonborn ![]() Tell: As you spend Breath, your elemental nature begins to show on your body. Stone spikes begin to form all over, flames flicker from your eyes, lightning cracks at your fingertips, or water obits your head, etc. Power Stat: Aspect Resource Stat: Breath (Willpower+Charisma+Power Stat), regenerate all Breath with 1 hour of rest, but see Absorb Element Static Powers Elemental Aura: As Draconic Aura Hot-Blooded Blaster: (Replaces Claws) You gain a free rank in the Evocation School, and it always appears on your class's list of available magic schools. Elementalist: Replaces Blood Quickening. Gain the Elemental Mastery 1 feat from the Erudite Elementalist class. At 3 dots, gain Elemental Master 2. At 5 Dots, gain Elemental Mastery 3 Elemental Weakness: Depending on which element you chose for Elementalist, you gain a different weakness. Earth: You cannot swim. You sink in water and are slow to react. You do not add your Dexterity to Initiative. Air: You are as light as air. You take -2k2 on any opposed physical tests involving brute force. (I.e bull rushes, grappling, etc.) Fire: Water hurts you. A splash of water will deal 1k1 damage that ignores your Resilience and Aura (But not Armor). Submersion deals 2k2 damage per round. Water: You need water to live. Every day you need at least 30 minutes to be submerged in water or you begin to dry up, losing 1 dot from a characteristic every hour after 24 hours without submersion. Wood: You're very inflammable. Fire-based attacks (not lasers or plasma) ignore your Resilience and Aura (but not Armor). You cannot lower this damage by spending Breath using Hot-Blooded. ---------------------- Aspect *:Absorb Element(Replaces Dragon Mind): You can regain 1 Breath by draining 1 cubic meter of an element you've chosen for Elementalist. The matter ceases to be. (So Air elementalist who don't want to suffocate should be careful.) You require 1 cubic meter per Dot of Aspect for each Breath. **:Power of Flight (Replaces Dragon Wings) As dragon wings, except you don't need wings. ***:Command Element (Replaces Dragon Heart) You may move, animate, and otherwise control 1 cubic meter of the element you chose for Elemental Mastery per dot of Aspect for a scene by spending 1 Breath. If used as an attack, roll Aspect+Charisma and it deals 1k1+1k1 per cubic meter of material. The material is used up and destroyed in the attack. ****:Elemental Body (Re-named Dragon Skin) *****:Going Nova(Replaces Maximum Dragoning)You are no longer mortal, but an elemental force of nature. Once per day by spending 1 Breath, you may cause an elemental cataclysm, dealing 2k1 damage per extra breath you spend as part of the attack. The attack deals damage to everyone (and everything) within 10m per extra breath spent. Way fewer options. I think it's a lot less cluttered and a little simpler. I don't like the Air Weakness, though. Any suggestions? Edited by PoliteViking, May 20 2016, 10:47 AM.

This Exalt could use a lot of work. Without going into detail, it has way too many different rules depending on what element you pick, making the Conduit more complicated than necessary. I could see something like this making for a great Alternate Exalt for the Dragonblooded, but I can't see it standing on its own. Also, you should take a look at the Sage. It's a similar idea (depending on your perception) executed differently. Edited by weredrago2, May 19 2016, 07:20 PM.

I feel like you could cut out the elemental defenses/weaknesses to make it play easier. Maybe you could trim down the entire exalt and make the elements into your assets? You'd have to buy it at character creation, but eh. I don't know. Cool idea, though. |

I did have an idea for something like this at one time. As weredrago2 said, this would be better as an Alternate Dragonblooded and you could have Elemental Ray moved to a base Power and instead granting Evocation and the same Elemental Mastery I (from the Erudite Elementalist) as your chosen element. |

Okay, here's my thoughts: In an Alternate, Resource Stat is always the same, unless there is a change to the stats that determine it like with the Phoenix. I'd say that Elementalist could function the same as Blood Quickening, just replacing the bonuses to Claws with the relevant version of Elemental Mastery 1. Air Weakness is really harsh because -2k2 is really rather a lot. Drop it to -1k1 at most and make it specify Opposed Strength Checks for ease of use. Fire Weakness is likewise really nasty. Reduce it to Constitution Tests against taking a level of Fatigue plus one more for each Check on the test. TN 15 for a splash. TN 20 each round for submersion. Water Weakness would work better as something similar to the Sahuagin Racial Power in my opinion. Command Element could be written better as getting the Treesong spell but it applying to your chosen Element rather than living wood specifically. I don't like Going Nova much but I don't see a way to fix it really. Perhaps instead you get to cast Divine Power once per Session and auto-pass the Focus Power Test and Alignment Check it involves? |

I've got some PROTIPS on how to make your Conduit into a functional Alt Exalt. If you're going to make this an alternate to Dragonblooded, don't replace Blood Quickening with a feat. It's a built-in element system, so getting rid of it would be a waste. Just change up the elemental benefits and replace any references to Claws with something else relating to the Exalt. Rename Hot Blooded to Elemental Body or something, for the sake of cosmetics. Remove Elemental Weakness. Exalts only get 4 static powers, and adding a weakness to a prexisiting Exalt is a bad idea. You don't need it. Dragon Mind should probably stay, or at least replaced with a +1k1 bonus to Evocation tests. I can see Command Element being horribly broken, since it means you can deal 10k10 damage with 10 meters of wood. You know, like a tree or something. That's actually better than Going Nova. On Going Nova, I say you should exchange a Spell for a Spell. How about Reality Maelstrom from Book 2? Honestly, instead of locking the Conduits a set element system, you could have them as living gateways to the Elemental Plane of Force. AKA, that place where all of your Evocation spells come from. Just some ideas. |
