I assume the logic is that mist is heavier than air so at best you're just barely hovering on the ground. In Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Alucard's not exactly the pinnacle of speed when turning into mist. It takes him a few seconds to pass through a metal grate and his fog speed is slower than normal movement or back-dash spamming. "But he can still fly, right?" Yes, albeit slowly compared to his Bat Form. So maybe Speed is halved in Mist Form as a balancing precaution, but that's just me sticking to one reference source. |

Interesting idea. The biggest question is if it is balanced, because they've already been improved quite a bit as an Exaltion: Do they need to be able to fly through ceilings? Some races can fly anyway, could always just be one of those. As for source material, these Vampires seem to be inspired predominantly by those of Vampire: the Masquerade and Vampire: The Requiem. All their abilities are named and based on Vampire disciplines from those games. In this case it's from the 5 dot Protean ability, which lets you turn into Mist. Looking at both of them, neither gives actual flight. You float along on the ground, but you can't take to the air. Might be smart to rename the ability Protean to be more in line with the other powers. |
