Dave had just finished taking his Entrance Exams, and decided to walk around for a little while. He didn't feel like running in to check out his new dorm right away, after-all that's what everybody else would be doing. It was warm outside on the quad, and the teen felt quite at home. He was originally from Ashdell, a rather hot place most of the year. Dave was pretty discouraged from his first Holodeck run, but was hopeful for a second try. He'd win, and he'd kick everybody's asses! Maybe... who knows?

His partner Bruce was trailing right behind him, but walked much slower. He wasn't as interested in checking out the school, the place looked pretty dumb. They had him fighting in Machines! Bruce couldn't wrap his mind around that concept. Then again, he wasn't supposed to. Bruce was the pokemon... and Dave was the trainer. The Machop wasn't the one that had to go kick a computer's ass. "Chop. Cho Ma-Chop," the fighter said looking at his trainer. It seemed that Bruce was tired of all this walking around, and wanted to train. How else was a fighting pokemon supposed to get any stronger.

Dave just turned his head when Bruce started talking, and figured he was tired of all this walking around. "Alright, alright. We'll go rest in a couple of minutes. I'm just seeing what other kinda talent is gonna be going to School here. See if there's any competition I should be worried about..." The teen said, keeping his eyes wide open for the other trainers that were around him. Bruce wasn't interested in such things, why watch your opponents when you could be getting strong? Dave seemed to be more keen on knowing what he was up against. The Machop was looking around also, but he wasn't looking for trainers... he was looking for something to fight. There had to be something wandering around here right? There always was. Wild pokemon were EVERYWHERE practically. So the pair stood there, Dave looking for somebody to talk to while his pokemon searched for an opponent!

Machop trudged all around the Quad, inspecting trees and tables, even puffing out his chest at a few unwilling trainers who hurried on their way in response. Your efforts were equally as ineffective. No one really wanted to talk to the new kid.

Some time passed. It was unbearably boring, but Machop's resolve was rock-solid. Still, his body tired, so he sat, but then spotted among the bushes... a different shade of green. The reasonable response seemed to be to walk up and hit it, and so you now had a very angry Ralts on your hands.

Dave's attention was quickly caught once Bruce found something. Though what he found looked rather weak. It was another Pokemon his trainer Dave wasn't very familiar with... A Psychic type. More specifically a Ralts. After thinking for a quick moment, he turned to his companion and gave him some commands. "Okay Bruce, try opening up with a Leer, then follow up with a Revenge attack. That oughta do the trick don't ya think boy?" he questioned.

"Chop." The fighter replied, quickly glancing in his opponents direction. The Machop did his best to put a frightening look in his eye, and shot the gaze at his opponent. Hopefully it'd lower the Ralt's defenses. Then he immediately got into his fighting stance. Spread his legs slightly, and bent his knees. Bruce's arms lifted up from muscle memory, since he usually tried to block as many attacks as he could. The fighting type was preparing for his second move, but he needed to get hit by the Ralts first. Then he'd stick it to that little bastard.

Meanwhile, the rookie trainer Dave stood back watching his plan unfold. If all went well, what he cooked up would be enough to faint out the little Psychic type... and if not then Dave would pretty much be fucked. Nobody wanted to talk to him now, imagine if he lost his first battle here out in the middle of the Quad! "Make sure you hit em good Bruce, Ralts getting up for a second round wouldn't be for the best!"

First, he opted for a show of bravado. Machop and Ralts locked eyes, or, well, Machop stared down some point on the Ralt's face area. Whatever, it worked, and Ralts defenses lowered.

But then she retaliated, and a blast of disorientating psychic energy quickly overwhelmed him. It was a crippling blow, but Machop still managed to stagger forward, and end the conflict.

And Dave earned the first real victory of the latest crop of students.

But there was no time to celebrate. Before Ralt's lifeless body had even hit the ground, a group of Shelmet swarmed on Machop, spewing Acid and angrily chirping. Perhaps the Ralts had been their friend? Whatever the reason, you found yourself in a much tougher spot.

Dave did a little fist pump when his Machop kicked the shit out of the Ralts. The battle had done a real number on Bruce, and two more wild pokemon showed up out of nowhere. These were pokemon he didn't recognize aat all, and Bruce raised his fists weakly. The fighter was willing to keep going, but in his condition the headstrong Machop wouldn't last long.

Bruce's eyes narrowed, and he took a defensive stance. "Chop..." Bruce muttered, as his gaze rested on the two bugs. He was ready to fight, and he was even more ready to win. Just as the mighty warrior Machop was about to charge his two foes, Dave his trainer stepped forward.

"Bruce! No! BAD MACHOP!" he exclaimed, and raised his hand. He asserted himself, and his raised hand threatened to smack Bruce right in the back of the head. "That's enough. That Quad probably isn't the best place to go around battling everything buddy..." Dave explained and began dragging his Machop away from the pair of Shelmet.

As Dave let go of Bruce, the two began to run... they didn't want those Shelmet catching up to him. Once Bruce started thinking about it, he figured that Dave was right. Fighting those Shelmet would be a foolish thing to do, especially after finishing that Ralts off so well. Dave felt it was time to check out the Motres Red Dorm, and probably heal up Bruce while he was at it.

You made it, in case you were wondering. The Shelmet were hardly speed demons, and quickly tired. The chase was short-lived.
