![]() Hoshi's theme: The Talkative Books and the Silent Girl P R O F I L E. ``the basic rundown Name: Hoshiko Nickname: Hoshi Gender: Female Age: 16 Birthday: October 3 Blood Type: A+ D E P I C T I O N. ``the outermost reflections Height: 5'3" Weight: 119 lbs. Build: Hoshiko has a slight, slender build. She does not train extensively, but does keep herself fit to a degree. Eyes: Her eyes are a bright shade of brown. While guarded and serious among strangers, they become expressive and cheerful when surrounded by the people she trusts. Hair: She keeps her hair short, falling just below chin level. Short bangs partially hide her forehead, yet are not long enough to impede her vision. She brushes it regularly and takes good care of it; she grows easily annoyed at people who mess up her carefully styled hair. It is brown in color, just a shade darker than her eyes. She often wears small hairpins or ribbons of varying shapes and colours. Features: Nothing significant, though she has calluses on her hands as a result of her training and gardening. Her appearance is not particularly remarkable. Appearance: While she prefers to dress up whenever the situation allows for it, she will wear practical clothing when needed, particularly while tending to the housework, gardening or training. She is sensitive about her looks, and grows easily embarassed if teased about them. She tends to place her weight on her left leg when relaxed, but has been attempting to correct her posture and evenly distributes her weight whenever she happens to notice it. She usually crosses her arms when standing in place for long periods of time, and gesticulates heavily with her hands when speaking, particularly when talking to friends. Hoshiko grows somewhat nervous in the presence of strangers, particularly those older than her; her body language tends to reflect her discomfort, and she'll often avoid making eye contact in those cases. D I S P O S I T I O N. ``the heart of the endeavor Likes & Dislikes: Hoshiko enjoys novels greatly, particularly those works of fiction that tell the stories of brave ninja who faced and sealed away great evils in the past, the adventurous tales reminding her of the stories her mother told her when she was younger. She also enjoys reading about a variety of subjects to a degree; history fascinates her, being almost a real-world counterpart to the fiction she usually dives into, and also has developed a strong interest in anatomy and medicine. While she hasn't decided yet, she hopes to pursue one of those two fields, perhaps becoming an apprentice to Aberlilly's resident doctor, or leaving the town to study. She greatly enjoys gardening as well; she tends to the garden in her house, keeping it not only trimmed and pleasant to look at, but filled with richly-scented herbs and colorful flowers that provide a relaxing atmosphere. She takes great pride in bringing life to the small patch of land, and is always happy to receive compliments about it. She learned a fair bit from her mother, and is able to tell which plants are safe to use for cooking and which can be deadly at a glance. The ninja arts are somewhat of an odd curiosity for her; her mother, before retiring, had been a ninja in one of the hidden villages. She had taken up training originally as an interesting way to stay fit, and now continues to practice as a tribute to her mother's memory. She does not see it as anything more than a hobby, however, and does not seriously consider them to be something she'll ever use on a regular basis, or live from. Music is another of her interests; try as she might, however, she has been unable to learn how to play an instrument, much to her chagrin. She does enjoy listening to others play, though; her favourites are soft, soothing melodies, and while it embarasses her, she greatly enjoys singing along to them. She dislikes people who look down on others, and loathes bullies who abuse those that cannot protect themselves. She also dislikes being the center of attention; while she does not feel uncomfortable when surrounded by large groups of people, she detests being singled out, and often attempts to blend in with her peers. She loves to walk outside on cloudy days, and spending time with her friends. Her favourite food is shrimp, though she also loves sweets. However, she has a strong dislike for spicy food, and isn't able to stand it. Talents & Flaws: Hoshiko has good memorization skills, and is particularly good at recalling what she has read. Gardening is one of her passions, and she performs excellently at it. Her penmanship is quite good as well, gained through involuntary practice as she took notes and copied fragments of books to take home. She is a fairly accomplished cook as well. She can easily focus and mute out outside interference, particularly when reading, being able to concentrate even in the midst of a noisy classroom. Her training has given her a basic grasp on self-defense, though she does not feel confident in her abilities to fight. She is very organized and neat, taking care of her parents' house by herself ever since they died. She is able to perceive spirits, though they usually appear only as vague blurs to her, ever since their accident. Hoshiko is somewhat introverted, and has trouble starting conversations; her shy demeanor often makes others forget about her, or subconsciously ignore her in a crowd. She often finds it hard to speak out when not in agreement to something, making it easy for others to take advantage of her as well. She is also somewhat naive and trusting of the people she knows, and tends to take their words at face value. While not entirely devoid of empathy, she is somewhat selfish and tends to think of herself before others; she will place her own well-being above that of other people. Her chakra reserves are very small, comparable to those of a child, or an academy student at best. She does not feel particularly worried about it, considering it just an oddity; her mother had often said that most people never developed the ability to mold chakra at all. She has some trouble performing even the most basic of techniques, further dissuading her from following in her mother's footsteps as a kunoichi. Fears & Limitations: Hoshiko is afraid of fire; while fireplaces and torches don't make her particularly uncomfortable, she will try to avoid anything larger than those when possible. Motivations & Dreams: Hoshiko hopes to become either an historian or a physician; she feels both fields are interesting, though she is currently leaning more towards the second, hoping she'll be able to help the people in town with their maladies. She believes being successful in her chosen career would have made her parents happy, and therefore hopes to become a person her parents could have been proud of. Personality: At first glance, Hoshiko appears to be somewhat quiet and reclusive; she doesn't initiate conversations often, prefering to stay at the sidelines of a group and observe, speaking only if asked something directly, often acting politely towards strangers. While she's happy to greet acquaintances she notices on the street and occasionally engage in idle chat, she isn't good at finding new conversation topics and spurring dialogue, which often leads to uncomfortable silences and awkward farewells. She is often distracted or lost in thought; while not enough to cause her to run into any lampposts while walking around town, she does fail to acknowledge other people's greetings from time to time, leading to misunderstandings. She tries to avoid risky situations whenever possible; she's more likely to take the long path home as long as she considers it safer. She can grow fiercely focused when studying, sometimes going as far as ignoring people when she's fully concentrated on a subject. While she tries to hide it, she's quite concerned about her looks, and enjoys keeping her appearance up at all times; she is careful to not overdo it and stand out from the crowd around her, though. Combat Persona: Hoshiko hasn't ever been involved in a serious fight; she remains intensely focused during training, however. D E R I V A T I O N S. ``the then to the now Affiliation: None. She enjoys living in Aberlilly Town, and has never thought of leaving it permanently. Rank: None. She isn't part of a ninja village, and has no official rank, as she was only barely trained by her mother. Her skill would be comparable to that of an academy student, or perhaps a newly-appointed genin at best. Biography: Hoshiko was born in the town of Aberlilly, and has lived there ever since. Her mother was a retired kunoichi, and her father the local librarian. Her parents died in a fatal accident involving an out-of-control merchant wagon three years ago, while standing on the road before their house. Hoshiko hasn't been completely able to overcome their loss, and still misses them greatly. She has lived by herself ever since. (Further information might be added as the story progresses!)
