Scrathy

Horace nodded as he followed Sefirot. Just recently his Grandmother had passed away and she left him nothing. Not a dime! After all he had done for her. Thinking back Horace couldn't think of anything had had actually done for her. Still, it was a matter of principle. Shaking his head Horace dismissed all the thoughts of his deceased relative and thought about the problem a hand.

Spying an alley up ahead Horace called out to Sefirot. "In there!" He said, before taking into the alley himself.

Kirat ran almost immediately into a bunch of fanatics heading towards him, forcing him to double back after Alyssa. The girl was a short distance ahead, winding her way through the tiny backstreets.

Alyssa could hear the thud of running feet coming after her. Before she could check who was following, however, the rat squeaked at her again.
"This way!"
It turned and raced through the open door of what looked like an abandoned house.

The only people passing by Vel'kan were fanatics. One glanced down, sneered, and drew a knife as he advanced. "A beggar! Filthy scum! I bet you're some kind of sorcerer as well. I think it's time you went on your way to your Demon Master."

Cronan ducked and wove through the alleys, putting some distance between himself and the policemen. To his relief, judging by the sound of the whistles the police were sticking to the main street. That meant that all he had to contend with in the alleys were any fanatics under the sway of an Inquisitor.

Sefirot and Horace stumbled to a stop, far enough from the fighting for the noise to become rather more muffled. They could see, and hear, the sounds of others like them fleeing through the backstreets, but there didn't seem to be much in the way of pursuit. They could afford to stop and take a breather, or keep putting distance between themselves and the mob.

Alyssa tried to increase her pace, already feeling a little tired after the haphazard running. Ordinarily this would have been fine, but being jolted from sleep and fleeing for her life was a bit harder than a proper sprint after a thorough warm-up. Heeding the advice of her rat companion, Alyssa, ran into the abandoned building, and looked around for some way to either conceal herself or hide the entrance she had come through.

Kirat

Kirat swore, again. He backtracked and ran after the woman seeing her he chased her. She seemed to have good navigating skills, knowing exactly where to go. He tried to catch up to her so he could speak, as he did he shouted, "Hey, wait up!" He didn't shout as loud now, just so that she could hear it. As he tried catching her up he checked his knife on his belt, just in case she seemed hostile. He looked back over his shoulder, no sign of the mob was seen so he carried on after her, keeping his eyes on where she went untill up ahead he saw her dash into an abandoned building, "Wait!"

Horace, realizing his distance between the mob and himself, decided to stop for a breather. He leaned against the wall of a building and slid down to the ground. "I don't suppose you have any water on you?" Horace asked, after he got his breath back. Out of all the things he had on him, just his clothes, cane and the nearly acquired paper bag, he had never thought of packing essentials like food or water.

Kirat ducked through the door before Alyssa could shut it, the door slamming just behind him. From the sound of it, the mob hadn't followed them past the last turn. They were safe.

The fanatic swore as Vel'kan's knife gashed him across the shoulder, lashing out in retaliation with the torch he held in his right hand. The flaming end collided with Vel'kan's face, smashing him to the ground and leaving him with some minor burns on his face. Knocked unconscious by the blow, there was nothing he could do to resist as the cultist drew a knife and hacked away at his neck, severing his head before plunging a crude stake into his heart, just in case.

Alyssa grimaced, glancing sideways at the man who had followed her inside. She recognized him as the one who had ran past her earlier, but this did not really tell her much about him.

"Come onto my shoulder, Matrix." Alyssa asked her Rat Companion, calling him by name for the first time since their hectic flight from the mob began.

"Now then, it seems we're stuck here together. Anything you want to say? Why'd you follow me, for a start?" Alyssa now asked the man, aware that while it might have be coincidence, it was far more likely that he had some motive.

Cronan raced down down the twisting alleyways, trying to keep his footsteps as swift and silent as possible. He paused now and then, straining his hearing for any sounds of encroaching fanatics. It would not bode well for his health if he ran headlong into one of them. He kept to the shadows, his desperation mounting. He had to find a way out, or some place to hide. If he remained out in the open for much longer the Inquisitors would find him. And then he would wish that the Goddess had granted him the peace of death long before. The rumors of the obscene tortures the Inquisitors subjected their victims to was legendary.

He had no wish to be one for "heretic" mercilessly butchered by the Inquisition.

Kirat

Checking all the windows were closed off and the door suitably locked he sighed, finally another fanatical mob evaded. It was only then he remembered he was not alone and he looked to the woman. "Hello, my names Kirat." He smiled, abruptly wiping the smile off when he realised her seriousness, "I did not follow you, I needed to get away from the mob and this was the only way to go, so, well, I suppose I did follow you. But us heretics have to stay together I suppose." Kirat spat the word out and upon watching the rat climb up her shoulders he had a thought about why she might of been hunted. He did not care as such but it was an interesting sight. He did not know many other people with powers, in a way he had been lonely most his life, just him against what seemed to be the world. "Why are the Inquisition hunting you then?" As he spoke now he searched the rooms, looking for anything usefull
