Name: Horace Black

Age: 23 years

Physical Description: Horace is 5’10” and thinner than average. His black hair is oily and slicked back like his silly little mustache. His complexion is very pale in direct contrast to his dark green eyes. His is nearly always seen in a solid black tail coat with silver lining and top hat. He carries a wooden cane with gold coiling up to the handle and a worn metal cap on the bottom.

Background: Horace Black was born into a family in constant financial problem and debts. By the age of four he was sold to a noble family to pay off some of his families debts where he became a servant. He was dispatched off to the kitchen once he reached the right age and hardly saw the sun until he was sixteen when he decided to escape.

Horace, realizing his fate, got together a few other child slaves and planned an escape. The other children, not realizing Horace had used them as a distraction, had tried to sneak out the back while he waited. Once the guards caught the children and took them away to be punished Horace merely walked out of the, now unsupervised, exit and into the crowded streets of London. Quickly realizing he needed money and not knowing how to get it Horace resorted to pick-pocketing. After a few close calls with the law, Horace realized he wasn’t going to survive very long at that rate.

One night on the street Horace noticed a magician practicing his tricks in front of an audience and after seeing the money pour into the man’s hat after his performance Horace got an idea. He followed the magician into an alley wear he ran past, ‘accidently’ bumping into the man and taking his wallet and pack of cards from the coat pocket, before apologizing fleetingly and fleeing.

Once Horace had run far enough away he took out the pack of cards and tried replicating a few of the card tricks he had seen the magician perform. With growing frustration Horace was about to give up he tried once last trick but this time he got the card he was looking for. Not realizing what he did Horace tried again, and once again he got the card he was looking for. He stood up suddenly with the deck of cards in his hand. He pulled the card off the top and, without looking at it, said “six of clubs” and there it was. The six of clubs. He did it again, “Ace of spades.” And there it was. He started flicking through the deck quickly, guessing every card as it flicked passed.

Horace stood in the alley, starring down at the deck of cards now scattered across the ground. Horace blinked several times and shook his head. When he stopped his was puzzled by the cards on the floor. They were now all different. Afraid of his growing insanity Horace grabbed the cards and burst onto the street. The first man to walk past Horace jumped in front of and held the cards in front of him. “Choose a card.” He said, demandingly. The man, taken by surprise slowly took a card from the deck. “Queen of Hearts.” Horace chirped. The man, now looking puzzled nodded slowly, “How did you-” He was quickly cut off when Horace snatched the card back and ran back into the alley from whence he came.

As Horace grew he learned how to play his nearly found audience into believing his deceiving acts and started to make a lot of wealth. At the end of one of his performances he was approached by a suited man who offered him a venue and a constant job. From that point on Horace was given the name, “Horace Black the Illusionist”.

Once he had landed the venue he began doing even more outlandish tricks until on day he out played himself. One the same day an Iquisitor was watching his performance. Realizing he had been caught; Horace quickly made his way back stage where he kept all his magic tricks. Once the Inquisitor followed him back there he was easily lost and Horace quickly made his escape into the night, knowing all to well he could never show his face back there again.

Personality: Horace is very arrogant and flamboyant. He has little affection for others and is self-centered. His addiction to opium has lead him to commit occasional theft and as such he has perfected his skills as a pickpocket.

Wanted: £10
