JERSEY - Eclipse Distortion (approx $55) The Eclipse Distortion jersey, while lacking in camo colors, really makes up for it in performance. The material on the front and back is a little thicker, but the entire underarm gussets (both the red and the black area) is a highly breathable mesh. The front and back of the jersey are cut longer so that it can sit over the top of the pod harness. The underside of the jersey in the front contains a square of terry cloth material designed for a quick mask cleanoff for a fast turn-around during games. The shoulders, elbow, and forearm is covered in even more padding for comfort. Definate upgrade from the Camo Under Armor shirt. Underneith the jersey, I was wearing a black Reebok sleeveless shirt that didn't look super-sexy, but it got the job done. At the much warmer tournament, it wicked sweat away from my skin like a champ. PANTS - Eclipse ETek 2007 (approx $100) I didn't believe the pants hype until I played in them. Now I'm not 100% sure how I got along without them. While one might think heavy duty nylon is warm (it is), as long as you are moving the decievingly small air vents allow air to move around the legs. The built-in kneepads are an added bonus, making it easier to get in a low bunker or a good shooting position. The crotch has a little bit of padding as well, making that eventual nutshot not so painful. Definate upgrade from what I had before. POD HARNESS - NXe 3+2+2 (approx $50) My first harness is a good one. Allowing me to carry seven pods at once (I could do as many as nine), it gives me a seemingly endess supply of paint. the midde and the very edge are elastic bands, while the primary center three have a slick inside, an elastic band holding tension, and a velcroed piece of fabric holding it into place. Those center pods are rigid, keeping their shape. The pods (like any pods) are easy to retrieve with a grab-and-go upside-down mounting system, making it where you grab the tube = the top of the tube. This is my first harness and it's a winner. GLOVES - Eclipse Wristbands w/ Thumbhole (approx $15) If you notice in all the pictures, I am not wearing true gloves but instead a wristband with a thumbhole cut out. I found that at the tournament, my gloves were being a pain and making it harder to shoot while the odds of me getting hit in the hand were actually fairly minimal. For $15 it was worth a shot and it worked out pretty well... if you are willing to play the not-get-shot-in-the-hands gamble. I felt it was a little bit easier to get the shots going and to continue the stream of paint. They can also fit under normal gloves, so if you need a wristband also, they can work too. For me, it's an upgrade but others may not want to try them if they are afraid of getting shot in the hand. GOGGLES - VForce Profilers (approx $60) Yes. Extremely comfortable and provide great face coverage. The one thing I don't like is the anti-fog layer is easy to remove but otherwise, it's extremely comfortabe. For the price, they are worth it as I can breathe again and I can see easier. The lenses pop in-and-out quickly as well, so changing and cleaning is not an issue. Definate upgrade. |

Adding to this (everyone may want to take note, these two are GOOD) NIKE Landshark Cleats They are cleats. With fully molded hard rubber soles and mid-height uppers, they offer great traction and ankle support. not quite a soccer cleat or traditional big-cleated football shoe, not quite a turf shoe. At $35 a pair, it's something that can be worn for a year and disposed of at the end of the paintball season. I was pleased by how this performed on a soft (but not muddy) ground as well as a hard dirt surface. I never slid once on the surface. Virtue Speedfeed Hopper Crown - Soft First off, a speedfeed system is a cap for the hopper that allows easy pod-to-hopper transfer of paint without messing with a lid that allows paintballs to go in but not come out, even when this one is tipped upside down. It requires removal of the current lid and then this is just slid and tightened into place. The speedfeed performed almost flawlessly. At times in speedball games the option to just stop shooting is not there, so instead of opening the lid, grabbing the pod, opening the pod, dumping the pod, and closing the lid, it shortens the list to grab, open, dump. It removes the entire need to open any sort of lid. This thing was GREAT. At times, I was holding the marker and shooting with one hand while dumping pods with the other. Is it perfect? No. It's not for one that treasures each and every paintball like gold since in the process and the speed of the whole thing it doesn't quite let them ALL in, but for faster fills, it saves a lot of time when you are in the heat of battle and need to KEEP GOING. |

Furious Lotus Barrel - $62-$68 for a back and a .689 tip Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Ask the people I shot today. I don't really hear my own marker when I shoot anyway since I'm not listening for it so I can't speak for the sound dampening of it, but it shot really straight and that's all I can ask for. I had no issues and I didn't have any barrel breaks, so I guess it did it's job. The problem with these is that each barrel is hand-made by a very small company and are only sold directly through one of the investors in St Louis or else through two stores nationwide. Shortly after I bought mine, Vicious took them on as a sponsor. Apparently they were trying them out too. The only downside to them is for the $60+, its one back and one tip, they are very hard to find, and you get your choice of color as long as you want black. Guerilla Air 70/4500 w/ Myth reg and HP spring The Myth regulator is the smallest reg in the industry today. The Guerilla Air 70ci tank is one of the biggest commonly available in the industry new (there are a few 80s and 90s, but not many). Even with the big tank and the little reg, it's still smaller than any of my 68/4500 tanks. It's also a little heavier than the normal tank just because of the extra size. The problem with the Myth reg is it puts out a 650psi output instead of the normal 800-850psi output. Guerilla Air has put out a high pressure spring in the internals of the regulator to bring up the pressure to the 800psi range. This was needed because the Geos originally could not shoot anything but HP outputs (the Myth provided a lot of inconsistancy), and even though a fix to the Geo should have taken care of everything, I prefer to stay HP. The only gun that does not allow for an HP tank are Angels and I doubt I'm ever going to get one of those. |
