Toronto sends: SP Andrew Cashner - SD - $400,000 (2014, TO 2015 @ $3,500,000) Pittsburg sends: 3B Trevor Plouffe - Minn - $2.0M (2015) taking out the pick to make the deal fairer, plouffe is still cheap at 2m for 2 years, he needs to part with a pitcher I want to part with hitter. just trying to get out of last place and hopefully this helps. Toronto has agreed to this as well. Edited by Red Sox GM, Mar 29 2014, 12:27 PM.

1-0 For a league that states the values are lower on a waiver trade the last trade should have passed. This is a prime example of why waiver trades should not alter the value and you should base the value of the players based on...well...their value. It's a crappy trade, don't know why somebody would trade out of a top 30 pitcher for a 3B in the last 5...but it's a waiver claim. |

I am a firm believer that just because a player is placed on waivers then his value still remains the same. There are at a minimum 5 reasons why a GM would place a player on waivers. I still look at this and say naw.. Cashner for a guy who has never hit over .255 and has around an average of 52 RBIs..Doesn't sit well with me for value. And the immediate need is stated for as a backup? Cashner rates higher than a back-up. I have too veto this. 1-1 |

1-2 When was it stated waiver deals should be lesser value? Not saying it wasn't but I certainly don't abide by that. I actually railed against that in the old league saying to vote on them like any other deal. |

1-3. There should be something else added to the plouffe side |

holy crap! when did Cashner win the Cy Young award? A TAB is supposed to make decisions only in cases of a major breach of rules, where a major disruption of league balance is a threat. This TAB makes it impossible to make fiscally sound decisions and is trying to control areas of personal decisions that arent their responsibility. |

The problem with opinions is they vary and are more based on emotion than stats. A lot of questionable things happen in the leagues each spring. You just get used to it. Edited by Red Sox GM, Mar 26 2014, 06:01 PM.

I am not really sure what to here, I am gonna give another offer to blue jays, will see what happens. but I really did think it was a fair deal, and its really discouraging, when the comment on the last trade was that if it wasn't for the pick it would be passable. and a position player in a good lineup with rbi changes and hit 15-20 hr for a pitcher that plays ever 5th day for a bad team that will not get wins. just other periphals are decent. well I obey the rules, but I just want to say that I protest this, nothing I can do, I just trying to get out of last place make my team atleast compete, decisions like this make it hard. just my two cents. |

One GM stated that it would be passable and he did not vote in this trade, I didn't see another GM make this statement. Just pointing that out, not trying to ruffle feathers. |
