Namely using the Sakugarne against anyone buy Wily. Or the MM3 weapons against the MM2 guys. I always wonder what that would be like. So, after a long time of brain farting I finally got Save State Master to work. I could edit save states to fight those "impossible battles" Except the Sakugarne option doesn't always appear. Wierd. I'm takling MM2 first (and quint) but it's dissappointing. The MM3 weapons just bounce off the MM2 guys. HOWEVER, the RMs DO react true to the NES MM2 in regards to their own weapons. Metal takes 2 hits to kill. Air dispells the tornados on contact. Leaves just fall off wood. And Bombs just explode harmlessly off clash. And Quint? The Sakugarne is completely ineffective against him. And .... every other MM2 boss. Haven't tried 3 yet, but I figure it'll be the same. Which is dissappointing, really it is. But I've also learned how bloody inpractical and usless the Sakugarne is in a actual RM fight. It's worse than Top Spin! You get hurt more than you hit anyone! And even if you hit em, you drop down and get hurt ANYWAY! Bllody useless. So, there's even MORE proof that Quint sucks. Edit: If anyone, uh .... wants to help by getting me to the bosses in the GB games in the REW emulator, that'd be appreaciated. I hate those games. |

Hm. It would've been neat if the MM2 Masters were weak agaisnt the same weapons as their Doc Robot counterparts in MM3; Magnet against Metal, Hard against Crash, Needle against Wood. But itmakes sense that they don't work seeing as the programmers didn't forsee you having those weapons and thus didn't program the RMs to take damage from them. I'd have no problem getting you to the bosses. I seem to have liked the GB games a lot more than you appear to. What would you need me to do? |

Sure, help would be nice. Remember: it's the REW emulator. That's the emu that works with SSM. And, at the end, I'll post the save states for people to fight the impossible battles themselves! I just got to the MM3 guys now. A little different of a story here ... you can use Sakugarne against them! Why then and not MM2?? Needle - Needle Cannon shots bounce harmlessly off her. I can't recall if that's true to the NES MM3, but Mandi's old damage chart says no. The Sakugarne is surprisingly effective! Although I had to use an e-tank to refill my energy since you're ALWAYS BLOODY HIT! Hard - Hard Knuckle takes this sucker out easy! According to Mandi's chart taking four energy bars is normal, but the life meter for the GB games is shorter, so .... it really shows. Sakugarne is effective here too. Top - No damage from Top Spin AT ALL. As it should be, but unlike MM3 NES. Sakugarne is not effective at all. Top moves around too much. Magnet - Weak against his own weapon. Sakugarne's freakin' useless. He's always on the roof. I can barely hit him and I always get hit on the damn thing. |

Got 'em. Thanks a bunch, G! I got the Save State Master too and I've got it working with the first GB game. I've only done Cutman and Iceman so far. I'll send you the save states later. Cutman: -No damage from his own weapon; Rolling Cutter passes right through him -He is frozen by Time Stopper -Quick Boomerangs pass through him -Bubble Lead does no damage -Atomic Fire does no damage -Mirror Buster does nothing Iceman -Ice Slasher goes right through him -Time stopper freezes him -Quick Boomerangs go right through him -Bubble Lead does no damage -Atomic Fire does no damage -Mirror Buster doesn't reflect it So far, it's looking like, aside from Time Stopper, the MM2 weapons don't do jack against the MM1 Masters. |

But Time Stopper doesn't weaken them. So it does nothing. After all, "stopping time" is just freezing the animation. Still, the fact that there isn't even collission detection is intiguing. Very intriguing. Maybe it'll be a different story with the MM2 guys .... |

Alrightie. Got the rest of the MM1 guys. Elecman: -Thunder Beam goes right through -Time Stopper freezes him -Quick Boomerangs go right through -Bubble Lead does no damage -Atomic Fire does no damage -Mirror Buster doesn't do crap Fireman: -Yep, Fire Storm goes right through -Time Stopper freezes him. Hurray -Quick Boomerangs go right through -Bubble Lead does no damage -Atomic Fire does no damage -Mirror Buster does zilch Flashman: -Time Stopper still freezes him -Interestingly, the Mirror Buster reflects his shots, but they deal no damage back to him Quickman: -Quick Boomerangs pass through him -Mirror Buster does nothing Bubbleman: -Bubble Lead doesn't faze him -Mirror Buster doesn't reflect his bubbles or his standard shots Heatman: -Atomic Fire has no effect -Mirror Buster doesn't reflect Enker: -As expected, the Mirror Buster doesn't reflect his (already reflected) shots back Oh! And as long as we're on the subject of the first GB game, I thought you all might be interested in this: http://www.disgruntleddesigner.com/chrisc/RMProto/ A look at what appears to be the beta of Rockman World. |

Yeah, I linked to that RM Proto in my MM Mysteries article. It's really cool although he does not give out roms, which is disappointing. Ah, well. So, that was interesting information. I think Bubble Lead hitting those guys has more to do with how Bubble Lead was programmed to walk along the floor and not anything to do with damage data. Although it's interesting that Enker's weapon reflects back Flash's shots. MM3 next? Should be a bit more complete, I think... |

SD might be reading this… ;| I'm fairly surprised the MM3 RMs in MMII don't all match up right. In MM3 each of the eight Robot Masters can be beaten with seven hits of their own weapon. I'd help you out with MMIII, but i don't have an emulator. Sorry. |

Ah, I must not've seen it in there. Anyway, I've partway into MM3 now, and I must say things are indeed a lot more interesting this time around: Sparkman: -Spark Shock bounces off with no effect -Dive Missile actually works pretty well; takes off 2 damage -Skull Barrier is also interesting; it does 1 damage to Sparkie, and it blocks the small sparks -Drill Bomb deals 1 damage -Dust Crusher deals 1 damage -Screw Crusher deals 1 damage Geminiman: -Gemini Laser bounces right off -Dive Missile does 1 damage -Skull Barrier does 1 damage; it'll block his standard shots, but not the Laser -Drill Bomb does 1 damage -Dust Crusher works nicely, taking off 2 damage, sometimes splitting and hitting his twin, dealing additional damage -Screw Crusher does 1 damage Snakeman: -Search Snakes don't work -Dive Missile does 1 damage -Skull Barrier does 1 damage; it deals some damage to the snakes, but it's not very effective at blocking them -Drill Bomb is his semi-weakness, dealing 2 damage -Dust Crusher does 1 damage -Screw Crusher does 1 damage Shadowman: -Shadow Blades have no effect -Dive Missile does 1 damage -Skull Barrier does 2 damage this time (I'm seeing a pattern here...); but it doesn't do crap to block his Shadow Blades -Drill Bomb does 1 damage -Dust Crusher does 1 damage -Screw Crusher does 1 damage I kinda wonder if the programmers were going to put a teleporter room before Wily, but then dropped it later on. |

Now for the last of them; they didn't seem to be as interesting: Diveman: -Unlike the MM3 Masters, he takes 1 damage from his own weapon. -Screw Crusher does 1 damage Skullman: -Skull Barrier does 1 damage, and it blocks his standard shots -Screw Crusher does 1 damage Drillman: -Drill Bomb does 1 damage -Screw Crusher does 1 damage Dustman: -Dust Crusher does 1 damage -Screw Crusher does 1 damage Punk: -Screw Crusher bounces right off (I kinda expected it though, since none of the other special weapons have any effect) MM4 & 5 have teleporter rooms, so the only impossible fights there would be Ballade Cracker on Ballade, and Spark Chaser on Terra. |

may as well try those. Make saves of the fights against both forms ofballade since it may be possible that they do different seta of damage on him. Plus it'd be cool. Man, the Screw Crusher SUCKS. |

Alright, I've got MM4. Radar Dish... thing... -Crystal Eye does 1 damage -Napalm Bomb does 1 damage -Power Stone does 1 damage -Charge Kick can't hit it; it's too high to slide into -Ballade Cracker does 2 damage Ballade (1st fight) -Crystal Eye does 1 damage -Napalm Bomb does 1 damage -Power Stone does 2 damage -Charge Kick does 1 damage -Ballade Cracker does 1 damage Ballade (2nd fight) -Ballade Cracker does 1 damage I may have underestimated the Power Stone, it works rather nicely against Ballade; it's almost guaranteed to hit him what with him bouncing all over the place. |

I see you have the others posted on the main site. Well without further ado then, here's the last one. There were only two impossible battles here. I didn't think I'd be able to do it at first, 'cause the rom kept glitching at the start whenever I'd select any stage except Mars. But luckilly I found passwords on MMHP that got me where I needed to go. Dark Moon -Electric Shock does a whopping 3 damage (The Devil series' weakness to electricity rears its head once more) -Black Hole does nothing -Break Dash is useless, since it can only be used on the ground -Deep Digger is also useless since there are no blocks to throw at him -Spark Chaser does 1 damage per hit Terra -Spark Chaser passes right through him, deals no damage |

Ahh, passing right through him. So this suggests that Dark Moon had the potential to be placed after everyone was already beaten. Maybe as a fortress boss. |

Heh, you talked about the game's Needle Man as a "she" (in the website too). Me too, "thanks" to the Maniacs, can't help but to think about Needle Man as a girl each time I replay MM3. |

Holy crap, I didn't even notice. It's the same thing with me. I've been replaying the classic games a bit recently, and every time I encounter Needle or Spark, I automatically think of them as female. This team's really affected our minds. |

It wasn't your sister ready to kill you shouting "How dare you say that fat blob of armor is me!!" that gave it away? The only boss i've thought of as female is Venus from MMV, for obvious reasons. Even though the first Venus on the Cosmic Gladiators was a boy… poor guy (lawlz behind Greyring's back) |

Only "male" boss I saw as "female" is Blast Hornet. But that is mostly because she is filled with eggs, and she attacks with her baby bees~ Boy we got off topic quick. |
