I remember hearing an old story that the Stardroids were fusions of two Robot Masters, was that hearsay or was it something that was actually written in one of the old manuals?

From what I can remember, here are the combinations.

Mercury: the only one that was a completely new (I think there are traces of Yellow Devil in the concept)
Venus:Toadman+Bubbleman
Terra: Geminiman+Tomahawkman? (may have been Shadowman)
Mars:Napalmman+Turboman(this one adds a bit of credit with the color scheme)
Jupiter:Elecman+Crashman (Saturn had Ringman, but I am not sure)
Saturn: Ringman+Starman? (not sure of Starman, but maybe.)
Uranus:Gutsman+Hardman (Remember clearly. Adds the most credibility)
Neptune:Snakeman+Waveman[5] (also remember clearly, also adds credibility.)
Pluto:Slashman+??? (Don't remember the other one at all)

Anywho, have you guys heard anything on this?

Actually, yes, I heard that somewhere as well....chances are, it's all just fan-made as a way of explaining where the Stardroids actually came from. I'm not quite sure, however. But it would be quite interesting.

And that's all. By any chance, does anyone hold a copy of the MM5GB manual/Ariga manga with the Stardroids in it (art of them exists at least)/some artbook with data about them that would confirm or not these infos ?

I don't actually own Mega Man V, but I know that Slash Man's data could not have been used to create Pluto (Mega Man V was made in 1994, but Mega Man 7 was made in 1995).

I'm thinking that Saturn's data could have been made from those of Shadow Man, Flash Man and Dust Man, based on his three attacks. I think Neptune that could actually be Crystal Man mixed with Guts Man or Stone Man (that's right, no actually water-based data if you were to go by the attacks; Salt Water acts similarly to Crystal Eye).

I use to have the MM V GB instruction booklet. I still own the game cart. I do own the Rockman Complete works 15th anniversy Handbook, however. I belive it does tell about the Stardroids.

I did hear about the Robot Masters combining into the Stardroids, however. I read about the combinations on a site eons ago, though.

This was something tht Pixelboy made up in the dar ages that was the MM Community of 1998. It's a bit of fanon that never has seemed to go away, by the looks of it. Total BS.

What's your basis for thinking that? For all we know, it could be official stuff Capcom didn't do a good job of letting everyone know about....

Because I came from those dark ages.

There wasn't any sourcebooks because nobody read Japanese. And Pixelboy made up everything about the RMs for his (quite popular)RM database. Which iceman reproduced for the Sinister Six, by the way.

http://www.megamanempire.com/ - this is information on Pluto gained from sourcebooks. You'll note: no combined RM bull.

And forthermore, MM7 completely refutes the idea. Because Pluto (and Venus) were combinations of MM7 robot masters. But MM7 was released in 95 while MM5GB was released in 94. So it's impossible.

Fannon. That's all it is.

....Riiiiight. There's no need to be so high and mighty about it. I think it's an interesting idea, to be honest.

But still - I demand to be more than a watered-down Terra clone! *Produces acid clones en masse and begins picketing for Mercury's rights*

That would also explain the Turboman thing with Mars. Seeing as you said that Megaman 7 was relased in '95.

Makes some clearer sense now... Thanks for clearing that up.

Thanks. I never expected THIS bit of info to survive when so many other ideas from those times didn't. To me it was always fishy (thanks to the MM7 connection).

Yeah, I don't know why, but it always stuck in my head. I could have sworn that I found it at MMHP though...

MMHP might have had something about it. Mandi and Pixel were friends. But the idea originated with Pixelboy and his site.

Mandi's stire had it's own share of idea that prevaled. The relationship between Roll/Mega/Proto. Dislike of how the Ruby Spear's cartoon isn't canon. Calling the robot masters bioroids (or something) used to be popular. The idea that Protoman left due to some accident. There's really alot, it was very influencial (and still is to some).

No problem.

I think some people may made up the fusions possibily due to some of the Stardroid appearnces also?

The RS Cartoon, that was another story.

A little from column A, a little from column B.

I actually got the idea for the fusions after seeing Enigma using both Yamato and Yeti, at first it was a Samurai that created Ice weapons. I Procrastinated until Mercury appeared, and even then I didn't get it finished till he was Firefly.

Part of me always remembers that whenever I see the stardroids (that would be the brain.) Although a similar concept, they are connected by if anything a thin string of thought.

The Stardroids do look an awful lot like old RMs, and that's probably where Pixelboy got the idea from. Yeah, It probably also makes people want to beleive it's true.

I think the design team just got lazy. Maybe there's more in-depth notes for why the RMs look so similar somewhere.

Seeing Venus looks alot like Toadman and Mars kinda reminds me of a Tankish Napalmman to me. Uranus kinda reminds me of a bit of Taurs Fire from Ryuseii no Rockman: but seeing RnR came out 13 years after MM V for the GB and such.

Though, I kinda liked how Neptune, Jupiter and Pluto looked.

Does it make you feel any better that he didn't mention me either? C'mon, I'm the best-looking one on the team!

I still don't know why they made Venus look like Toad. What do bubbles and explosives have to do with a planet named for metal and love, anyway?

Uranus looks like Gutsman (if only the face, it's very distinctive; along witht he powers), Pluto looks like Shashman (Well, he does), Sunstar looks like pharaohman, and Neptune looks something like Wave ... if we're going by looks Dark Moon ought to have blown Wily's cover completely. I mean ... what was he thinking there?

But Saturn and Mercury don't look like any other RM. I think there were shinnanigans during the design stage of the game.

They always struck me as vaguely similar to Rockman Killers....probably the very human-like face.

Chicks dig Rockman Killers.
