"Female" bosses?; I don't mean bosses like Queen Ophiuca…

I remember that when Gauntlet was looking for the "impossible" battles for the classic Mega Man Game Boy games, the topic drifted a bit toward bosses that are supposed to be "male" seeming "female." I suddenly remembered about it today (since I was thinking of drawing Blast Hornet and I remembered that Avi had mentioned him/her there), and now I'm wondering if you guys tend to see some of the "male" bosses of the games as "female."

In my case, the only one that I regularly think of as female is Venus from Mega Man V, for the obvious reasons that the planet Venus is named for a female mythological figure and the saying that "women are from Venus." (I don't know why Venus and Bubble Crab look alike, however…) Although, what Avi said about Blast Hornet keeps ringing in my head now (and I like the cute little tilde, by the way):

Only "male" boss I saw as "female" is Blast Hornet. But that is mostly because she is filled with eggs, and she attacks with her baby bees~

What about you guys? Are there any "male" bosses that you usually see as "female"?

To be honest, Crystalman has not existed within my mind for many years. It's not because I think of him as a woman, but more because I've been conditioned to think that way. The same thing applies to Needlegal. Other than that, there have been a few licensed sources predating Zymeth that portrayed a Centaurwoman, and just for the sake of having ONE girl thrown into the sausagefest, I maintain that as an undisputed truth.

Not as such, no. I see every Maverick and RM (natch) as a male. =/

However, there are some Mavs/RMs that could, theoretically, be considered female (or, in the case of some RMs, make the transition to female without too much difficulty) - I can see how Blast Hornet could be considered female; Shield Sheldon, likely because of his/her pink-and-yellow colour scheme; Centaur Man, who is often regarded as being one of the most womanly Masters; Plant Man, because, well....I don't think I need to explain this one; Venus (though not the original); plus I may occasionally think of Spark, Toad, Needle, Burst, Ballade, Bright and Crystal as females. And Gemini Spark of Star Force, though that's probably also because Pat is clearly a girl. He is. ¬_¬

Damn you, MM Team community, and your influence on me!

I think of Aquaman and Plantman as homosexual, thanks to M3. Does that count?

Would't some of the bosses in Zero and ZX count as males and females also?

Storm Eagle spits eggs. Oddly, I see him as male.

Other than that, I may be a bit influenced by the Community in my views.

Not you. ¬_¬

But face it; Centaur is one of the most womanly of all Masters, for whatever reason. Possibly because he's half-horse, possibly because he's supposedly graceful, as a Greek godess would be. It's just one of his innate traits.

*throws brick up and down* And there's more were that came from, buster.

Personally, I tend to think of RMs as females only because of their Epilogue-verse counterparts. So yeah, Spark, Needle, and Bright mostly.

Apperentaly none of you played The Power Battles >_> That voice is WAY too deep for a female...
I still stand that he's usually a guy (their robots after all...there's probably many forms of them)

I think they've only been conditioned to think that way since the Armored Assassins have a Centaurgal named Misty (and previous one named Shelly).

Like I said before, there were sources that predated Zymeth. At least, that is my reason for thinking of a Centaurwoman. With all due respect to Misty (whom I have never met), she hasn't been on the Assassins long enough to influence subconscious cognition in such a manner. The same could be said for Zapper, actually.

Now that I think about it, I think I had actually seen Crystal Man as female at some point, probably because Crystal Girl would seem more fitting. (I actually remember thinking of making a female Crystal for the fanfic series I tried to write almost a year ago.)

Yeah, the whole Centaurman being a woman in one of Ariga's mangas is why I think of Centaur as a female as well.

Otherwise... ever since I found out about Crystalman, I've subconsciously associated him with being a female, and not because I'm CrystalGirl, either. It's because of his name. :x Crystal is, at least in my mind, a very feminine name, and thusly I've just always associated Crystalman with being female.

Other than that, Plant does come to mind. Unfortunately for him, being a flower gives him serious girl-points in my book. (A fate Rosered suffers as well).

All the others are epilogue based: Spark, Needle, that route.

I've always thought that Rosered was like Vega. A dude, but an eccentric and feminine one. Whereas Plantman's face is too manly to be considered feminine.

Any of the epilogue-based characters that hang around for a long time. Needlegal, for one. I often type "Needlegal" when talking about NeedleMAN ... I've been caught quite a bit on that.

That's what originally started this, if I'm not mistaken. (Because in Mega Man II, if one were to fight Needle Man with Needle Cannon, the shots would just bounce of her. :Ž) So, it's the same thing with Spark, from the sound of things?

The Eps have brainwashed me as well, it seems. These days I can't play MM3 without thinking of Needle as a guy. Sometimes I can for Spark, but that's mostly because the guy just looks too manly to doubt him. Needle's just a hunk of armor, so...

And let's not forget Crys-chan! >_<

Heh, I remember that, I was the one that pointed out that gender confusion.

Well, you all have mentioned the most suspicious ones, I guess, but I'll add Star Man to the list, he looks a bit girly in the stage selection screen in MM5, so there, I nominate him because of that and because of Andrew Dickman's (he was DarkNapalm, wasn't he?) flash, the Wily Show one.
