Today May 16 2010, Ronnie James Dio died at the age of 67 (almost 68). Let us take a moment of silence to... wait... silence? I am such an idiot! LONG LIVE HEAVY METAL, LONG LIVE DIO! A message from the widow: http://www.ronniejamesdio.com/ |

It's a real shame... I saw Heaven and Hell live at the Jones Beach Theater in 2008 with Motorhead, Testament (who I missed) and Judas Priest (who were headlining). This was before the release of The Devil You Know. It was an incredible show, and I'll never forget it. |

Holy hell, I didn't realize how old he really was. He made some awesome music. Gonna go listen to Holy Diver just for him. |

Dio is a god among men. I mean, he brought the horns to the metal scene. He was one of the founding members of Rainbow and helped keep Sabbath alive after Ozzy. He made metal what it is. Long live Dio. We're off to the witch We may never never never come home But the magic that we'll feel Is worth a lifetime |

The thing that really makes it a shame is that he was taken right when he was looking forward to being able to perform again. His health was supposedly improving and all that, but... yeah. The good part is that he at least lived to be more than 65, but if the loss of Peter Steele of Type O Negative last month was a big blow for the metal community, then losing Dio is a real doozy. Really... while I can't say I listened to a whole lot of his music very often prior to this, it is nonetheless heartbreaking... I'm still mourning over him, what with all the Black Sabbath/Dio/Rainbow I've been listening to lately... RIP ='( |

...PETER STEELE DIED?! D: Aw man, that went under my radar, I had no clue...that really sucks. But I am so glad I got to listen to Type O Negative when I did (I heard them back in...2006 I believe, but didn't hear them again or get any of their songs until recently.) Poor guys :( R.I.P Ronnie James Dio and... R.I.P Peter Steele |
