No Losing Story Progress

It's common in RPG's that if you die you have to reload your last save. This is a throwback to non-rpg videogames that should really be modified for the rpg. Certain things you do in an rpg should not be undone if you die. Anyone you talked to should not need to be talked to again. I can't stand when I'm playing an RPG and I don't remember if I promised to help this guy or gave so and so their amulet or whatnot because I've redone story parts a few times.

A game that did this well: I've never seen a game try this.
