RPGs have gotten way to complicated and without a good reason. I think it's possible to simplify alot of the aspects of an RPG without taking away any of the fun or customization options. My biggest example of this is Attributes. When you're creating a character or leveling one you should not have to be concerned with having 26 Dexterity so you can take a certain feat later, or having 32 Strenght to equip certain armor. All Attributes do important stuff already. That's good enough. More and more I talk to people like myself who love RPGs but don't have the time we did when we were kids to devote to them. Simplifying things will help you remember where you left off and such if you only have a few hours a week to play. I'm currently trying to play Dragon Age Awakenings. Everytime I turn it on I spend the first hour remembering who has what items and abilities and can do what and on and on. A game that did this well: Super Mario RPG A game that didn't: Dragon Age Origins Edited by Jason Keiderling, Apr 20 2011, 04:00 AM.
