The New Hope Clutch is hatching! And to everyone's surprise a White has spilled onto the sands after the combined help of the candidates freed it! To top it all off a huge pride of felines is attacking the Weyr during the Hatching! Will all the babies survive? What about the people and Dragons of the Weyr? So far one Bronze has been killed, and Hikari has nearly been murdered herself by the blood thirsty cats, only escaping by pure luck!
This, is Maori Weyr. The home of the last few left behind after the great Evacuation, and the few who will not forget their ties to the old world, Earth. Will you join our ranks? Or flee back North, where comfort and the security of many Weyrs lies.
(OOC Note: The Staff team is currently revamping the informational forums, so some of the info forums will be empty for a while. Weyr Caverns
Maori Weyr is situated in a complex system of caverns and tunnels that all connect into one large cave. It consists of three levels. The main floor, where most of the main caverns branch off from. The lowest floor, where the storage and such things are kept. As well as the Upper Floor where the Dragon Weyrs and Candidates Barracks are situated.

Rider Weyrs
Found across the cliffs of the mountains and can be reached from the Upper Caverns. Throughout the day, dragons can be seen sunning on their ledges, together with a mate, or alone. Whichever suites the dragon.

Kitchens
Located in a cavern that branches off the Main Caverns; the Kitchens are almost always busy, and there's always something to eat or drink on a small table in the back. Kitchen Hands can be seen hustling about, setting out meals during certain times of the day.

The Baths
The Baths are situated between the Weyrling Weyrs and the tunnel between the Main Caverns. The tunnel is a bit winding, and eventually leads to two large bath rooms. One for the women, and one for the men. Parts of the pools are deeper than others, and stone shelves line the walls which are stocked with sweetsand and towels. The water is usually between warm and hot, depending on where in the pools you are.

Hatching Sands
The Hatching Sands is a large cavern that branches off the Main Cavern. The sands here are warmed by volcanic activity from deep beneath Pern's surface. This is the place where new life is formed, and even where death occurs.

Lower Caverns
Located between the Weyr-Folk Dens and the Kitchens the Lower Caverns makes for a great exploring place, or even somewhere to get away for a little while from the general hustle of the Weyr. They are used as storage for all sorts of things, and Weyr-brats often roam these halls.

Infirmary
Located next to the Sands, the Infirmary is always occupied by an injured dragon or two, or an irate rider. This is where the injured are made whole, the sick purified, and the miracle of human life is born. An all around homey place, the Infirmary is staffed by caring Healers who know more than a thing or two about their trade.

Candidate Barracks
The Candidate Barracks are located in the Upper Caverns, near the Riders Weyrs and Weyrling Weyrs. The Barracks can house up to 22 Candidates at a time if they are doubled to a room.

Weyr Fields
The area just outside of the Weyr Cavern is unnoficially called the "Weyrfields", or "Weyr Fields". It is a part of Maori Prarie, but consists of the Herdbeast corrals and the Weyrs own crop-yielding fields.

The Sky
The realm of dragons. Here, Wing practices are held, along with Games. Though most often, you'll spy dragons simply flying, enjoying the air under their wings. A few games of tag might ensue, or a daring game of catch, but it's all in fun.

Weyrling Weyrs
The Weyrling Weyrs can house up to 30 Weyrling Pairs if two are housed in the same room. Rooms 1-7 are for the girls and 8-15 are for the boys. A wooden wall with a door separates the two sections.

Maori Hold
Maori Hold is situated right on Maori Lake's shores. Some of the buildings are made of stone cut from quarries, some are dug out of the hill-sides and cliffs. It's docks are small and fishing boats are usually the only thing that frequents them. Due to being so far in-land there is no Dolphin Bell on the docks. Maori Hold is about a two hour ride on horse back from the Weyr.

The Mountains around Maori are not a place for the faint of heart to travel to. The peaks always have snow, and the winds can easily sweep a dragon off its wings!

Maori Lake
Maori Lake may not be as large as the Sea of Azov but it serves its purpose for the some hundred people that were left behind in the great evacuation. It's waters are clear and cool, and a small river splits off and flows into the sea.

The Jungle
To the east of Maori Lake lies thick and overgrown jungle, and progress through it is difficult. Felines roam to the far east, and have slowly been encroaching closer to Maori Weyr and Hold. Wild Wherries and Whersports are common, and make for good eating if caught.

The Desert
To the west of Maori Weyr and Hold lies a large and expansive desert. Small, desert dwelling Wherries and stunted plants have adapted to live here. It is hot, and not many dare to venture into its sands.

Maori Prairie
Located between the Weyr and the Hold as well as many miles on either side. Maori Prairie itself is a wide open space of rolling hills between the Weyr and the Hold, and many come here to relax or romp through the fields. In some places it stretches to the sea, and tunnelsnakes are common throughout the grass.
