The New Hope Clutch is hatching! And to everyone's surprise a White has spilled onto the sands after the combined help of the candidates freed it! To top it all off a huge pride of felines is attacking the Weyr during the Hatching! Will all the babies survive? What about the people and Dragons of the Weyr? So far one Bronze has been killed, and Hikari has nearly been murdered herself by the blood thirsty cats, only escaping by pure luck!
This, is Maori Weyr. The home of the last few left behind after the great Evacuation, and the few who will not forget their ties to the old world, Earth. Will you join our ranks? Or flee back North, where comfort and the security of many Weyrs lies.

Character Number: 7th Name: Headdelorain Ayala Age: 16 (Winter) Gender: Female Sexuality: Heterosexual
Family:
Mother: Adelora Ayala Father: Henry Ayala Siblings: Adelen Ayala (brother, 12)
Appearance: Fair beyond comparison, Headdelorain is often called “Ghost” by people wishing to poke fun at the timid girl. To an extent, she takes after her mother in coloring, having blond hair and blue eyes, whereas her father’s dark locks and irises went to her much-favored younger brother, but she only received muted hues of Adelora’s vibrancy. Her platinum blond hair, which she wears short, is so light that it could be more appropriately called white and where Adelora’s eyes are a deep, mysterious blue Headdelorain’s are bright, sparkling sapphires. The girl is small for her age, standing at just less than 5’2”, and has already been surpassed by the four-Turns younger Adelen. In accordance to her lack of height, she also has a slim, willowy build that is frail and wispy, further lending to her nickname. Her skin is also quite light, holding just the faintest touches of rose that seems to settle mainly along the ridge of her cheekbones and thankfully pale, yet numerous, freckles on her arms and face. The washed out tones of her coloring are due in part to the fact that she has Xeroderma Pigmentosum and cannot stand sunlight for any length of time and has had to spend all the days of her sixteen Turns hidden indoors. Whenever she does expose herself to sunlight, she spends the next several days in a red, painful agony.
Headdelorain has a tendency to wear clothes that are either pure white or extremely pale pastels, finding that these hues complement her own paleness without making her look stark or sickly.
Personality: Always a shy, reserved person, Headdelorain is entirely inept at successfully navigating any social situation, not that she has had many experiences to gain practice from. She has always been reversed from everyone else, being active at night, while most people are asleep. Even her own family has had minimal interaction with her since she became old enough to care for herself. She rarely ventures outside of her home in daylight hours, though when she does, she almost always startles people who have never seen her before, constantly resulting in her sinking into dismay and her self confidence plummeting further. On a few occasions, more superstitious people have actually run away screaming, leading to her crying in some deserted hallway until one of the night staff (who know her much better) come to collect her. She spends most of her nights in the kitchens, always willing to lend a hand, despite knowing that she’ll never be fully acknowledged for doing so. Sometimes, if one rises early enough, they might catch an image of her flitting back to her “lair” (as Adelen calls it) in the weak dawn light.
Though she’s not often engaged in conversation, when she is, she tends to be monosyllabic, often shocked or frightened by the attention. Still, if a person is persistent, they can find that she can be chatty and humorous once she’s comfortable with someone. She appreciates the value of hard work and dislikes being idle, convinced that there is always something she can be doing. In fact, the only time she’s not working at some task or another is when she’s sleeping or suffering through a depression, which often stems from her deep-rooted loneliness.
Biography: Headdelorain was born just before the ships arrived at Pern, delighting her lovesick mother and father. However, their enthusiasm dimmed a bit when they discovered her sickness and how much work would go into caring for her; a burden that doubled when her brother was born and could not be raised nocturnally. They tried for a Turn or two to balance out their two children with very different needs, but more-or-less gave up on Headdelorain, finding that she discovered her self-sufficiency at a young age. So it was that she became a stranger in her own family, the pale, ghostly child that spent only the early evening hours with her parents and brother.
The girl grew up without the same fear of Thread that plagued the other colonists, being pretty much safe from it since she remained inside the caverns during the day and it’s lighter falling at nights. Still, despite this unparalleled security, a sadness ate at her. Ever since she first laid eyes on a dragon, she has wanted to ride one, despairing in the knowledge that she can never follow her dream while keeping it quietly to herself, not wanting to give out another reason to be tormented. However, the newly-arrived whers bring with them a new opportunity for this girl raised by moonlight. She caught her first glimpse of them at the hatching, having braved the sun to see it, and fell in love with the creatures who shared her fear of the sun.
Location: Maori Weyr
Rank: Wher Candidate
Pets: Canine “Amarine” -- Knowing that they would have to neglect their daughter so they could care for their son, Adelora and Henry acquired a young canine pup for Headdelorain when she was still small so that she wouldn’t grow up completely without companions.
Amarine is a large Bernese Mountain dog and is constantly by Headdelorain's side. She is a very sweet and gentle creature, but she can be fiercely aggressive in protecting her most precious owner.

Fun Facts: Some people believe that Headdelorain might be the illegitimate sister of Lady Saerabe, given that they both have unnaturally pale coloring.
