Within Maraslia lived the Kingdom of Nuran. This is where our story begins. Deep within the castle of Nuran nestled serenely on the highest peak of the great nation, lived the royal family and all of their servants. It was the time of great sadness and woe, for the king had just passed away. A ceremony was being held in his honor within the castle for all to attend. Night was upon the world and everyone seemed to be gathering for this grand event held in honor of the passing king. The Queen of Nuran stood with much sadness in her eyes at the head of the table that the servants had laid out for the attendees of this funeral. The Prince and Princess of Nuran sat to either side of her and the rest was filled with people of high honor within the community. "Good people of Nuran and all of Maralsia, I am terribly saddened to disclose to you all that my husband, King Luren, has passed this morning. At this time, I wish that all of your prayers to Mara and Eth will be with us as well through this troubling time for my family. Please, allow for time of mourning and sadness to pass, and our new king, my son, Prince Aramor, will be taking the throne when the time has come. He has graciously accepted the position and will be looking for a queen to come side him. Now, my husband would never wish this much sadness upon his death, so we have prepared a feast for everyone here to enjoy in celebration of his life and in honor of his passing. Thank you for your time." she proclaimed, tears welling up within her eyes the entire time. Surprisingly, she kept herself composed enough to make it through the speech. The Prince stood up as his mother sat, saying, "Praise be to Mara and Eth, as well as Rightus! Farewell father and good tidings to you through your journey into the afterlife!" After the little proclamation made by the prince, everyone began to cheer and clap, raising their glasses to the sky in memory of their former king. |

"Yes... Alright... Sure... Thank you, I will do my best." a tall, slender woman stated into a cherry red cellular device. She rolled her eyes, closed the communicator and stuffed it into the tan pouch she had attached to her brown pants. She then whipped out a pad of paper and a pencil from that same pouch and scribbled some words down, ripping the paper from the pad and stuffing both of the pad and pencil back into that same pouch again. She then folded the tan parchment and placed it in her jacket pocket for later. A smirk grew across the woman's face, her newest mission was set, and she would figure out what was going on, whether they liked it or not. A few moments later, the pink haired woman began to walk down the many streets of Nuran's capital, roaming, all the while thinking of what she was going to write for her next article. Would it turn out to be an exposé? Or just a regular article about how things went? Either way, she would find some way to make it as interesting to her boss as she possibly could. She pulled out the piece of tan paper from her pocket and looked at the words she scribbled earlier. It was an address, one that was given to her to look into. There was something going on there, and she needed to give him a report on the subject as soon as possible. "A party of some sort, eh? This should be quite interesting. Hmmm, he told me that regular press wasn't allowed in. Well, I'm not necessarily working for the papers. I will find a way." she said quietly to herself. As she neared the address, she realized how big of a deal this really was. There was security everywhere and guests were arriving dressed in their best. Her normal every day outfit would not allow her to fit in well with this crowd at all. She kept walking, crossed the path until she was far enough away from the 'party' that she could think properly without looking too suspicious. "There has to be a way for me to get in there without being noticed...Hmmm, well...I always have shadow melding. Heh, this could come in quite useful. But first, I need to find some better attire. Boss will pay for it, if it is to get him his story. I've got to find a tailor or someone to give me an appropriate dress for the occasion." she said to herself, wandering around trying to find a shop selling designer dresses or anything appropriate enough for a ball-like event. Within the hour, she had found herself the perfect dress, a long, deep red dress that matched her fan. It looked as though it came from medieval times or so. It didn't seem modern much at all. Lots of lace, but it was the best thing she could find on such short notice. She had her hair done perfectly to the side, with a lot of curls. She almost looked as if she was going to a prom, not a ball or extravagant party. Things just seemed a bit off for her, she bought some fine jewelry, which she knew might make her look more appropriate, along with some fine shoes to match everything else. She had herself done up nice, all on the bosses tab, she was happy about that. The entire time, she pondered how she would get in. She figured she would use her best friends, the shadows, to help her get in. If she could hide herself in a shadow of a guest, than she could easily make her way in, and then be past the first trial. Secondly she would have to pop out of the shadows and be able to stay long enough to get herself a good story to write about. She hoped everything would go her way as well, but didn't everyone when they wanted something done? She made her way to a few blocks from the party using the shadows as her guide. She finally found herself, forming out of the shadow and looking at any good guests that she may be able to use to get herself in with. She kept her distance from the front gates, but eyeing every guest that walked in. It was just a matter of picking the right one. After a few moments of waiting, Scarlet found a victim, or rather, a host. She smirked as she made herself one with the shadows around her, drawing all of her dark energy into her body, forming the shadows around her to create a veil of invisibility of sorts. She then darted from shadow to shadow until she arrived onto her 'host', a woman whose dress was quite large and profound from the waist down. She liked the spacious shadow, and stayed there until she was inside the mansion. Once inside, she darted once more from shadow to shadow until she found a corner in which was safe enough to show herself. "Phase one, complete. Time for phase two...see what exactly this party is all about." she whispered to herself in a very hushed tone. Suddenly, she began to mesh with the crowd of people. Luckily it was quite packed. She was happy for that, and she acted just like the rest, her fan waving back and forth to cool her warm face. 'Ugh, it's so hot in here. What's going on, I can hardly see past this woman's hair!' she thought to herself, trying to get a glance past the woman in front of her. Suddenly, she noticed the crowed quiet down as she heard the sweet voice of an elderly woman it seemed. She could not see who it may be, but she could tell it was a wise voice.
'Oh my god...she's the Queen of Nuran. That's what all this fuss is about...and she's talking of her dead husband!? Hah, this is going to be great, I'll make a ton of money from the boss if I can just get my hands on some quotes or things of that nature. Hmm, I'm not quite sure how I will do that, I just have to get closer.' she thought. She needed something, an interview, a quotation, anything to make her boss realize that she was the one who got the story. She knew that her boss would make her top reporter if she could just accurately tell the tale of what was going on here. She moved her way through the crowd of people and hoped for anything, but of course, body guards and security were surrounding the entire area, she wasn't going to be able to get anything usable unless she was closer. |
