OK, this movie may not be so popular, and it came out on the same weekend as Battle Los Angeles did. So obviously, it didn't do too well at the box office. But I went to see this movie anyway because I was curious about how they spun the classic children story into an adult version. So, here's what I think about the movie: Synopsis: The title itself is quite obvious. The story revolved around a girl, Valerie, who lived in a village that was being haunted by a werewolf throughout her whole life. One evening, the whole village thought that they've managed to kill the wolf, but they were far from achieving their mission. So came the witch hunter to their village, whose mission was to kill the wolf, and basically this was the plot throughout the entire movie - the wolf hunting. Pros: Very clever spin on the classic children tale. It was made into an adult, horror version of 'The Little Red Riding Hood'. All the essential elements/characters from the story book such as the red cloak, the basket, the wolf and the grand mother were all built into the movie, but of course with an adult spin. Very nice production set for the movie, and I thought the actress who played the Red Riding Hood, Amanda Seyfried did a good job in it. Also, they put a clever twist on the movie (which had me guessed it wrong), and it was a good surprising twist. Cons: The unnecessary love story in the movie (which you would expect this because it was directed by the Twilight director) - they could have done it without the love story. I also think they over killed it a little bit with the 'red hood' in the movie because you almost constantly see the character in the red cloak. My favorite moment of the movie: All the quotes "Grandma... what big eyes you have.....what big ears you have...what big teeth you have" were cleverly incorporated in the movie with an adult spin. Recommended: Yes, because it exceeded my expectation. Grade: B+ |

If they could somehow come up with a clever twsit on it and make $$$, I don't see why not. These days it's all about the money. @ Chaos - there are violence in this movie of course, but not to the extend of being super violent. I don't think that was the intention of the movie. As I said, the movie is worth seeing because of the idea (for me at least), but if you don't want to see it in the cinemas, you can always watch it on DVD later. |
