Will the Mario series ever die?

I would say it wont. Lately, Nintendo hasn't being doing so well, as a lot of people prefer buying consoles to play Call of Duty , Halo etc. However, I still think the Mario series will survive. Do you think a port for XBox or PS3 is needed to actually keep the series alive, or is Nintendo still a good platform to keep the series exclusive to?

It's too popular to die anytime soon. I think Nintendo will keep mario only on their consoles so that people are more likely to buy their consoles. Also, wii has sold better than 360 and PS3 so you can't say their not doing well :P

i don't think it will die anytime soon...here is why...everyone eventually has kids...usually...and they pass on what they like to their kids....my kids who are 3 and 2 love everything that has to do with mario...they love watching me play mario..they have mario action figures...my oldest room is designed in a mario theme and they love the old super mario bros super show. I didn't force it on them..mario just appeals to kids and they will grow up with him and pass it on ...i think that alone will keep it alive because that happens a lot when people like me have kids ha hah a
I love the Power Glove....it is so bad.

I believe that, in the future, in Mario Party 37 or something, there'll be so many characters that the Mario series will rule the world by making people use coins for currency and eating mushrooms to grow up while stomping on turtles all day.

I think the series will be put to rest when the creator of the series retires or passes away. the game has been doing well on what it does, but they don't add much to gameplay over the years.

I don't think it's going to die anytime soon. To many people buy Mario Games for it to die.

Mario is an icon...like Ronald Mcdonald most kids know who mario is before they know who the president is....or for a analogy for you people in canada...they know who mario is before they know who Bryan Adams is.
I love the Power Glove....it is so bad.

^ I watched this thing once where a guy held up pictures of people and video game characters and tried to see if kids knew who they were. More kids new about Mario then Jesus! :O

Mario wont die, it is a series that can re-generate itself with the next installment of a new console. There are many ways the Mario has not turned in terms of game genre, some genres has not been tested or risked but they can continue to play around with Mario as a whole.

I say it won't because it was the first game Nintendo made that made them famous. (I think.)
And because it's such a grand money maker!

Mario, along with Pokemon, Zelda etc will keep living on no matter what they do with it. Its a franchise that kicked off with a great start and continued with the growth. Sure they might have a bad game in the mix, but that will still sell.
