Mario will end when Nintendo ends.

Oh, certainly. Not any time soon, mind you. But he will.

If I had to estimate... 25-50 more years of Mario?

The main series is already dying. 3D World is honestly the last hope. It looks amazing, but if we get any more NSMB rehashes the series will die soon. Paper Mario is dead unless there is an amazing fifth installment. Mario & Luigi thankfully is still thriving, along with Mario Kart (except some tracks and character choices are sickening)

But maybe since Miyamoto seems to be backing down a bit, story will again play a role in Mario and the series will make a comeback. (Nothing against Miyamoto, he just hates story in mario for some reason)

Something about Mario in crossovers?
My main question is, what's after the New series?

The 3D series. We've already go land, and world is quickly coming down the pipeline.

Personally, I don't think that Mario will ever die. Mario has been running strong for how many years? I remember playing it when I was a little kid and I'm 26 years old. My 5 year old daughter absolutely loves Mario Kart, and Super Mario Bros. for the SNES.

I don't think it will die, though what will happen in my opinion is that they will continue to reuse ideas being used in other games. And this could destroy the series in my opinion as the game will become very generic. I hope they manage to find some new ways to keep the game alive, so that it will continue to be a success.

I don't think it'll die in our near future. The series is way too big to just suddenly drop like that.

SM3DW does give me hope though, what an amazing game!

One has to wonder what will go first, Mario or Pokemon?

Of course it'd die someday, I just don't see it happening within the next 15 years though.

I don't think it will. It's gonna be around for a very very long time. As long as Nintendo keep coming with ideas for Mario games. There's always something new to share and put into action.
