So I thought I'd take a new take on the reviews and Hissae told me to put it here so here we go, let's get started. Posted Image In 2005, pop-punk band Blink-182 broke up due to personal reasons, at the 51st Grammy awards in 2009, legends Tom DeLonge, Mark Hoppus, and Travis Barker came on to stage for the very first time in over four years, while appearing on stage, the trio announced the return of Blink-182 and a new record to come out in the near future. Neighborhoods is that records. Blink-182's return announcement Here is the track listing for Neighborhoods. 1. Ghost On the Dance Floor 2. Natives 3. Up All Night 4. After Midnight 5. Snake Charmer 6. Hearts All Gone (Interlude) 7. Hearts All Gone 8. Wishing Well 9. Kaleidoscope 10. This Is Home 11. Mh 4.18.2011 12. Love Is Dangerous 13. Fighting Gravity 14. Even If She Falls So let's get started on my review, I've been a Blink fan since Dude Ranch and I was eager to hear the new record. Overall, I must say I am quite satisfied with the end result, however, it could have been better, it was a very nice satisfaction for any long-time Blink fan. The CD starts out with Ghosts On the Dance Floor. It was a nice kick-off to the CD, with a twang in the guitar line, though there at the end the song got a bit repetitive, the overall song was quite good, for a long time Blink fan, the song sounds like "Give Me One Good Reason." The next track song on the record, Natives, is definitely a new for Blink, the songs guitar riff is like a miniature solo, something Tom has never done with his guitar in Blink-182 before. It sounds nice and it's a very fresh note for Blink, and also probably a favorite of mine from the CD. Up next is Up All Night, which was Blink fans first taste to the new record because it was the first single off of the album and is one of the better songs on the CD. It stops with a great drum line by Travis and a pretty sweet bass line by Mark before Tom joins in on guitar. The song is definitely one of the bests on the CD, the mix of the instrument with Mark and Tom's vocals, it was and still is, now that the album is out, a great remembrance of what Blink was before they quit. I enjoy how it is like a Tom sings one line of the song, and then Mark sings a line kind of thing too, I enjoy that. Next is probably my 2nd favorite track, After Midnight. It is a very simple guitar line and probably the most creative drum line on the album while it remains simple as well, the fact that Mark and Tom both sing in this song too is pretty awesome. Though they both sang on previous songs as well, this one definitely seemed their best mix on the album other than Kaleidoscope. The lyrics are great as well, "We'll stagger home after midnight, sleep arm in arm in the stairwell." That line, "sleep arm in arm in the stairwell." it makes me smile. :) After that is Snake Chamber which is a pretty cool song. If you've ever heard Blink-182's anti-kill-yourself song, Adam's Song, well, this song refers back to Adam. It tells about how this nice girl, "Eve," sinned and how she was on Adam's mind all the time, which most likely is what led him to kill myself, that stuff is hard, I know. Tom is the only singer in this song and he did a great job. This song does seem like it has an empty space feeling to it though during the verses since it is really just Travis playing and Mark and Tom don't do much until the choruses. The next song, Hearts All Gone, is very fast paced and sounds like old Blink-182, like Dude Ranch or Cheshire Cat old. It's an okay song, not bad but it's not great like Up All Night or After Midnight. Definitely the fastest and probably most skillful drum line by Travis on the album, I can't say too highly of it though. It's a very catchy fast song, but that's about it, with some skillful drums. Next is Wishing Well, which honestly is probably the first filler song on the album. Every CD has them and this is definitely the first one for me, other than the kind of cool guitar riffs, I can't tell you much stuff that's great about this song. Following that is Kaleidoscope. This is probably my favorite song on the CD, it has a tremendous mix of Tom and Mark's vocals, a cool guitar line, the bass is really simple, and once again, Travis, best drummer ever, has yet ANOTHER extremely creative drum line, it sounds a lot like "Adam's Song"'s drum line. I can't explain how much I love this song, that is why this is a short description. One of the major things to point out about this song though is the multiple changes in it's pace, I enjoy that a bunch. The next four songs, This Is Home, Mh 4.18.2011, Love Is Dangerous, and Fighting the Gravity are just more filler songs. Nothing special about them whatsoever. Just your generic Blink songs, which they are all decent songs, but not one of them stands out to me, just because they don't seem to bring any kind of special sound to play. And finally, the last track on the album, Even If She Falls. This song is a great love song, and in my top 5 favorites on the CD, one of the best lyrical wise and the guitar is somewhat creative. As always, Travis' drums are great, just like a Blink song should have. If you want a love song from a pop-punk band in 2011, this should be one of your top choices, . I also like it because it is a bit of a fast paced song. Overall, a pretty good CD. Out of 14 songs, only 5 felt filler to me. Which is quite good, I was very satisfied with the album as a whole. They have had better CDs definitely, such as the self-titled album, but this is a great comeback album, I'm so happy to see new music from Blink and can't wait for more. Pros: -Tom and Mark once have again have great harmonies -Travis' drum beats are once again incredibly skillful and creative -Only 5 real filler songs -Songs like classic Blink-182 as well as the Blink-182 people knew just before breaking up Cons: -5 Filler songs -The overall CD could have been a bit better Overall, I give this album an 8/10. Good review. =D Great album though. Listened to it a few times since last night. Though personally I feel it's a completely new sound all together, with Tom's voice being changed very much since AvA. Some of the elements are even more mature than their self titled album. Though the sound of the album has a bit more of pop-punk elements than the alternative rock sound of the previous album( which I would call a solid alt. rock album for the most part.) Sorry about all that rambling I did there. Good review again. xD |

I don't see why not. Hissae never mentioned game specific reviews. (Did he?) |
