The italics show the character's speaking or notes being found or Jon writing his entries.

----- usually shows a transition, to make things more clear.

Pretty good, But i have one question, Is this gonna be like a full blown novel or like a short story? And i will be looking forward to the next chapter.
It is most likely going to be a story I will update on a regular basis. It's not going to end anytime soon. I already have plans for future characters, back stories for characters you've seen, character development and relationships. And not to mention how this all began in the first place. I'm already very excited for it.
Gotcha, And i will be looking forward to it! And chapter 2 was great as well.

Chapter 3: Days gone by
---June 30, 2016---

Journal Entry #47
Well, I am back to peak physical health. Glad Hunter saved me when he did, if not, I'd be one of those flesh-eaters by now. Joanna seems to be a good addition to the group, she's able to snipe from a mile away, and Hunter, well, he's not afraid of anything, to sum it up. We're almost at Rosepine, maybe Hunter and his friend will have an idea of where to go next.

"Hey buddy, What is that? A diary? Haha!" Hunter jokingly asked Jon.

Jon put his journal back in his backpack.

''It's a journal, I'm writing of all my travels and my life in this new world. In case I am ever to die, and someone will read and somehow find this useful, then my life would have meaning"

"Haha, you're such a softy. You ain't gonna survive with that kind of attitude." Hunter kept on taunting him.

Jon just looked off to the side, annoyed by his remarks. Joanna was in the back of the truck, trying to shake off her urge to sleep, holding her rifle in her lap.

"Hunter, how much longer till we get there?" She asked.

Hunter didn't need to answer that question, the small town was in their sights. It was about midnight, and they closed in. Suddenly, they heard a transmission from the radio.

"Hunter, I'm right in the entrance of where you're going through, over." A voice said.

They got to the town and spotted an old man, appearing to be in his early 50's. The trio got off the truck and hunter greeted him.

"Well, I'll be, you actually made it here alive, and you brought additional people. Nice to meet you, my name's Emil." He greeted Joanna and Jon.

The group of four went into Emil's safe house. In there, they met two new faces, a young man and his sister. The young man was in his late teens, and the girl was in her early teens, name's unknown to even Emil himself. They looked like they were in shock.

"Hey, what's wrong with them?" Jon asked Emil.

"Oh, it'd be better to not ask. There were originally four in their group. I'm guessing it was their mother and father. I saved them from a group of flesh-eaters. A sudden change like this really affects people, y'know? You never know when you're going to lose your loved ones. In a world like this, you can't afford to get close to people." He replied.

Jon was shocked by his answer, realizing how things have changed so much in such little time. He tried talking to the siblings, but they just had a blank look in their face, as if they lost their will to live. He then went back to Hunter, Emil, and Joanna, in the middle of a conversation.

"Alright, I say we head north-west. I heard a lot of rumors about the north being unaffected by this. We'll need to make a layout, though. Cities and towns to hit up, that way we don't run out of supplies on the way there." Hunter recommended.

The two agreed, and Jon was brought up to speed on what they were planning. They decided to rest up for the night. The group of four then discussed about the two siblings, seeing as they could be a liability. Joanna and Jon were against leaving them behind.

"They're just children, even if they're a liability, we can't just leave them here! What are we, monsters?" Joanna adamantly asked.

"She's right, we can't and won't leave them behind. Sure, they're a bit distant right now, but they will adapt in this world, they have no other choice." Jon replied.

Hunter and Emil didn't like the idea of being brought down or baby-sitting, but agreed. They stayed in the boarded up safe house. The four alternated keeping look-out from above the house, Hunter and Joanna did their turns and it was Emil next, as he climbed up, he was shocked at what he saw. There was a group of flesh-eaters, about 20 of them, heading towards the house. Emil immediately went downstairs.

"Hunter, give your little groupies some firepower, we need you three up here immediately!" He commanded.

Hunter was confused, but opened the chest of weapons and handed Joanna her rifle and Jon a 9-millimeter handgun. The three went upstairs and saw the large amount of flesh-eaters. The Flesh-eaters caught up to the safe house before they were able to get ready. They started clawing at the doors and windows, breaking it, little by little. The two siblings just sat there, as if they had accepted their fate.

"Hey, if you don't come with us, you're going to die, you idiots!" Jon told them.

"What's the use? Mommy and Daddy are gone." The girl depressingly told Jon.

"God dammit" Jon said in frustration.

He took both siblings forcibly by their hands, ignoring their whining of the pain. Emil told Hunter to jump down from the roof of the house onto his truck, so they could drive out. Joanna kept shooting, and Jon joined along. Joanna, Emil, and Jon shot at the creatures, shooting a considerable amount down, but more were coming.

"Get ready, you two. I'm about to cause a diversion." Emil told them.

He ran out of the house and kept on running, his shotgun being held in his left hand. He was able to catch most of the flesh-eaters attention, they were running towards him, Joanna and Jon shooting them down as Emil was running. Emil turned around and one of them was a few feet away. Emil shot it in the head, causing it to land on top of him. He decided to not move in fear of the flesh-eaters noticing he was still alive.

"Fuck" He grunted.

"They got Emil!" Joanna yelled to Hunter unknowing of what happened.

The rest of the flesh-eaters turned back around, hearing Joanna's voice. Jon, Joanna, and the siblings got in the truck with Hunter, driving off.

"Those damn bastards." He whispered to himself, angrily.

"Goddammit!" Hunter yelled out. "I can't believe they got him".

"There was nothing you can do, he did this for the good of the group, he died with purpose." Joanna told him.

The siblings were in the back, still keeping to themselves. It's like they were just shells of their former selves. Jon didn't even know their names, but yet he felt for them.

"We needed Emil, he had the map and coordinates and everything. Now we're just driving blind. We'll keep sticking to the roads, next town we see will decide what's next for us." Hunter told the group.

Ich Bin Grammar Nazi.

The meeting with Emil seemed a little sudden, but I might have missed something, because I refused to turn down my music while reading this. That generally creates a distraction.

Also, first Jon and now Emil? Are you just determined to make me fangirl over Let's Players or what? :P

If by Jon you mean Jontron, then it's pure coincidence, and Idunno what Lp'er Emil would be.

Chapter 4: The Colony

The group drove for hours, refilling the tank as they needed. The roads they were driving on were eerily deserted, not even a flesh-eater in sight.

"Don't you think it's strange that we haven't seen a living thing for miles?" Jon asked Hunter.

"Don't question it, just be glad we're not knee-deep with those biters" Hunter replied.

The sun started to slowly set making it evident that they had to find a place to rest for the night. After miles of just road and abandoned vehicles, things were looking bleak for the group. They were almost out of gas again, and there were no more spare tanks left.

"Hunter, maybe it's best if we alternate so that no one falls asleep on the wheel" Joanna suggested.

"Woman we're almost low out of fuel if you weren't paying attention to how much I drove. We're going to have take our chances, pack lightly, and walk till we find something."

The two siblings looked worried, and the elder brother spoke up. "What?! If we walk we won't make it. Are you out of your mind?!!"

Hunter laughed at how scared the teen looked "Calm the hell down, kid. If we didn't have a chance at making it, I wouldn't be stupid enough to send us out there. I'm not a genius, but I have common sense."

Hunter drove the last few miles on the truck, and the group saw lights in the distance.

"What's that?!" Joanna and Jon said simultaneously.

The group saw a bordered up fence and two men standing outside of it. Hunter was on guard because both of the men had handguns visibly on them. He slowed the truck as they approached them. Hunter rolled down the window and spoke to them.

"Wow, we didn't think there were other people that would make it this far" The first man said.

"Yeah, I'm kind of surprised right now, too." Jon told him. "What kind of place are you running here?"

"We'll open the gates and let you in. I'll get Chief Brown to explain everything to you." The second man told Jon.

The group drove in and were confused at how the inside looked so untouched by everything. There were houses and part of the town's park. They parked the truck and got out. Everyone's legs felt dead from being cramped in there for hours. The group was led to a house by the two men. They entered and came across an elderly man. Jon assumed this was their "leader".

"Why hello there, visitors! I'm Chief Brown." The elderly man said ecstatically. "Now before you speak, let me tell you of our little homely community here we call 'The Colony'. During all the chaos, people from our town decided to work together and try to hold off for help as long as we could. We sectioned off a small part of the town and took in any survivors. After weeks passed, the people sorta just stopped waiting and considered this their new home. They needed a wise leader and they chose me, the person who lead them during all of this. Now! What are your names?"

The group exchanged greetings and then Jon asked a very vital question.

"So, we've established that it's safe here. But, will you take our group in?" He asked.

"Why! Of course! Anyone's welcome in the colony as long as they do their part. You can take the empty house next to the park." He replied.

Jon's group breathed a sigh of relief minus Hunter. Hunter still felt like there was something off about the place, but was withholding any comment.

"I do ask one thing, though. We need to confiscate any weapons you might have on you. We realize you made it this far, so you must have had some firepower with you. We're going to need to check your truck, too."

Hunter was upset that they were going to take away the only things that made him feel secure in this world. He lashed out. "No! You can't take away my weapons. What if one of those things break in and I have nothing to fight them off, huh? What then?"

"I assure you Mr.Hunter our colony is very secure. Nothing will break through our defenses, alright? You just gotta trust us."

"Why should I trust someone I don't even know?" Hunter said in an adamant tone.

"I'm allowing you to live in our colony and you question why you should trust me? Maybe you should reflect back on that, Mr.Hunter." The General replied to him.

Jon took Hunter and pushed him off to the side of the room. "Listen Hunter, Don't ruin our chances. You heard what he said. It's safe, man. Stop being so damn paranoid."

Hunter looked away, but nodded. He didn't want to jeopardize the group, so he agreed. Chief Brown then spoke again. "Great, so everything's fine and dandy now! Very well. You folks may rest up in the house and we'll tell you what you can do tomorrow."

The group walked out, and for the first time in a long time they all felt at ease.

As Chief Brown saw the group go to their house, his smile turned to a scowl. ''Listen you two, keep an eye on that Hunter fella. If he causes any trouble at all, kill him on the spot."

The two men were surprised at what he asked. "But Chief, isn't that too extreme? Can't we give these new folks more of a chance than the last ones?" one of the men asked.

"You should already get the drill by now. Any strangers we take in usually end up being trouble, and you need to get rid of that trouble before it's too late."

The two men nodded and walked out. "I give it three days before he makes us kill them and make it look like an accident." one of them said to the other. "Yeah, he's probably going to want the Hunter guy's head on a platter, too."

Hey look I continued this shit, lol.
