Cyborg: +2 to Any

A race of once humans who volunteered their bodies to science before their deaths. After a couple years of experimentation the proper technology was completed, and people who volunteered from then on were brought back postmortem as Cyborgs. Cyborgs are unique in the sense that they can fulfill any single role because of their newly synthetic parts; programming for great combative skills, having biotic implants installed, or given the tech savvy of a supercomputer.

Origin: The cyborg race was created by an early branch of Cerberus' Project Lazarus using the same technology that eventually went on to create the "4 Billion Credit Man", albeit a very early version of this technology. They continued the operation of the cyborg project on the side to find a way to make it available en masse for The Systems Alliance, in order to further the power of the human race in the galaxy. To begin their research and experimentation, they began taking volunteers to be implanted with a chip that shows their location when they expire, these chips were ideally given to people who's life expectancy was lower because of dangerous work that could get them killed. People weren't exactly enthusiastic about this opportunity, but they did get what they needed out of the few volunteers that signed up for their "program".

After enough research was completed they found an affordable way to return a human to life by replacing whatever caused their bodies to die with synthetic, working counterparts, and inducing their vital organs back into work with various means. These newly created "Cyborgs" only recently began being consistently successful, and for a fee any human can opt-in to the program. This little side project that's being funded and protected by Cerberus has yet to break news to The Systems Alliance or be seen as anything other than human experimentation and exploitation. However, the opportunities of salvaging human life is worth the expense in Cerberus' opinion, and they will continue the project as long as they are able.

Can't we just use Geth for this? They could have extra stats but have to automatically deal with antagonism from organic races.

Geth are a singular consciousness. I really hate the idea of running around with a Geth, it just seems like the whole mechanics of it would be broken.

The Geth are only a single mind when they uplink to hubs and share their experiences. Otherwise, their platforms hold ~100 programs of limited intelligence (except for the Legion, which runs 1,183).

I think that the creation of a Cyborg race is possible, but a lot of background story will have to be done in order to make it believable.

I'll work on some background story for them today, just keep in mind they aren't meant to be a largely populated race, just a small number.

I've edited in a short but explanatory backstory for the origin of this Cyborg race in my first post. Hopefully this will suit your fancy.

Because these can effectively fill any role they want to, unlike the other races which are restricted, shouldn't they have some sort of disadvantage? For instance, having the weaknesses of both organics and synthetics (ex. fire and EMP)? Without something like that, it looks like they would be overpowered.

I was thinking of a disadvantage, but I couldn't think of any. Water's suggestion sounds like it would be very reasonable compared to the upsides of being a cyborg.
