GELMAN & FRIENDS - OUT OF BUSINESS
This is goodbye. We've all helped run an awesome server for 5 years now. We've met a lot of interesting people. Made some great memories. Built some incredible things. But everything has to come to an end. Our activity had dropped to nearly zero. I stopped developing MCLight in 2014. There was no point in keeping this going anymore.
So I announced that December 31st, 2015 would be the final day of Gelman and Friends. These forums will remain online. The logs, website, and Faceboook page will remain online. If you want to contact me you can try these forums, my email (mtm4440@rit.edu), or my Facebook. And to answer your last question, no, MCLight will not be released. Thank you everyone for the too-many-to-count good (and bad) times I've had on here. By the way, that secret account of mine on the server that had no IP trace was trixent37. I'll miss you all. Well...most of you.

There should just be a variable that you type like $skilled and it tells them off. "Skilled is an earned rank by being an absolutely amazing builder, it is not asked for... etc." |

If you're a mod you can use /sara and teach her a question/answer. You don't need me for that. |

I'm reviving a dead topic but whatever. Maybe we should make some guidelines for skilled. Something to tell them to base their building off of. The guidelines should be text instead of buildings and should be a bit vague to give room for their imagination. I'd suggest some right now but I just woke up and I can barely think of how to write these sentences. But one thing I would like to suggest is to not allow only one map used for grading skilled. You cant determine if someone amazing through one sign of excellence. If they have at least two maps that are amazing then you start to assume they are an amazing building. That would provide more of an average to see what their skills really are, not just what they will put into one map if they want skilled. If the map is truly amazing and you metaphorically accend to the heavens after looking at it then a second map wouldn't be needed, but only extremely good builders would do that (and they deserve skilled). A set of reference maps would be nice too, preferably of people who no longer play so that the map wont be changed. Or old contest maps. |
