"Roll!?" ProtoMan said. He got down on his knees. "Roll, I was so worried about what HeartMan did to you...." ProtoMan said. "It's effects turned you into a heartless war-machine...and you attacked people, I saw you...he tainted you good nature.."

Time's up.

Vestra: Yeah...

Vestra took what she had taken out of her robotic hand, lit it, and stuck it in her mouth.

Vestra: I'm staying out of this one.

Now it was Heart-Man's turn to attack. Diving straight at Proto Man, he tackled him to the ground, pointing a Plasma Pistol at his head. "Do you realize what you just did?!" He scorned, an uncontained fury in his eyes. "She is not supposed to have anyone tell her that...now, she may never have control over its powers!"

Roll found herself staring at her hands. The modifications...they'd done what to her? "Heart-Man...is that true...?"

Heart-Man looked away from Proto Man, into Roll's eyes. He just couldn't leave her like this--he had to tell her. With a quiet sigh, he switched the Plasma Pistol back to a hand, and got off of Proto Man. "Far from accurate, but true," he said, "when I said you had 'passed out,' what really happened was Virus taking hold of you...it's what the upgrade is supposed to do. You attacked Charge-Man with everything you had, but he still defeated you. Eventually, we stepped in, but Charge-Man escaped to go tell Dr. Light about all of this..."

Roll was beginning to tear up. "Wh...why didn't you tell me the truth...? Why didn't you tell me what a monster I was...?" Heart-Man tried to interrupt, but she turned away, and kept speaking: "I'm being such a burden to this mission...and so cruel, too..." With that, Roll ran off into the city, where no one was likely to find her.

When she was out of sight, Heart-Man shot a glare at Proto Man, not dissimilar to when he had found out that Fake-Man had killed Fire Wall. "I hope you're happy. Go make yourself useful and go on patrol."

"Shutup, you're not the boss of me HeartMan, you ruined our family HeartMan, so go make YOURself useful and figure out a way to fix this..this...thing you've done, I don't have to go out of patrol, I don't have to do anything, I didn't even have to reveal myself to my father that I was still alive all those years ago, I didn't have to save my girfriend from your forces a year ago, but you know why I did? DO YOU!?" ProtoMan yelled. "I wouldn't think you would understand MY situation, no one does..." ProtoMan said. "And unlike the others.....I have some bite to back up my bark..." ProtoMan then walked away.

Signal Man's head was ringing after being pinned to the ground. "Wait a second... Isn't... Isn't that my sister?" he said slowly, as if trying to comprehend the information. "What's going on? A heartless war machine...?"

"This is that Coda's work... and I know vaguely of the attacks it can- oh no... With the pent up rage built up at you- she's going to attack us! R-right?"

Signal Man shifted his eyes around as if frightenend for his life. Actually, he was. "Oh, no no no no! GUYS! GUYS! TAKE COVER, NOW!"

He dashed off in the direction the others went off to.
---
The seven others were walking torward where the signal was. "Looks like he should be right... there," Lift Man said. He was pointing at a medium-sized robot that looked like a refridgerator.

"All right, let's-"

"GUYS! GUYS! TAKE COVER, NOW!"

Cold Man heard this and saw the seven behind him. "What's going on over there?"

Sleet Man motioned for him to come over. He did, and Signal Man explained the story. "Crap... Come with us if you want to live!" Gust Man said. They all moved into a nearby parking garage.

(PROTO
FOR THE LAST TIME, THE CODA BOTS DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO YOUR GIRLFRIEND
NOW QUIET)

Heart-Man could only sigh quietly. Not only did the newcomers (Who left as quickly as they came) have the same misconception that Roll was a monster, but Proto Man brought a new one to the table. "Me? Heart-Man? Try to stop love? Why, the very thought of it..."

It was then that he heard the marching of feet off in the distance turn into disorganized running. Heart-Man turned around, although he didn't need to look--it was the Dr. Coda troop, returning from patrol, and they had caught sight of Pyro-Man.
Fog-Woman was the first one to speak. "Fire Wall! You are--"
"Call him Pyro-Man now, sister."
"Pyro-Man! You are back!" Even Wire-Man had a faint smile on his lips, whispering to himself, "the proper reaction is to be happy." When they finally reached each other, they all locked arms to form a circle--as was the Coda Family's tradition, as a hug would be too disorganized.

ProtoMan looked back to see the Coda family hugging. He thought the word family and despised it. "I should go back home, and be with my NEW family, just me and Photon, and HeartMan can't ruin it." ProtoMan thought, but he had a world to protect, becuase he knew that Wily's forces are still out there, and he had a world to protect from Wily. "Photon, I promised to you that I would stop Wily and come home safely, and I plan to do so..." ProtoMan then kept walking.

"Signal Man... are you sure that this infectant state is taking place? I don't hear anything..." Gust Man said.

"Well, I thought it was... I'm sorry, guys, I panicked..." Signal Man admitted sadly.

"Not your fault. The situation could've easily turned the other way," Cold Man said, patting his shoulder. "By the way, you guys know I'm not an enemy, right?"

"Oh, really? Oops. Sorry about that, Cold Man. Our databases must have read you incorrectly."

"No problem. I recently switched; perhaps that's why I'm misregistered. Anyway, what did happen to Roll? She is my cousin, after all."

"Some minor modifications made by Dr. Coda. At least, they WERE his plans; Heart Man was to carry them out only if she asked... This is what we were informed about, anyway. Both modes are extremely dangerous, one more than the other," Watt Man explained.

"Well, guess it was a false alarm... Come on guys," Hose Man said. They all went out. Soon they were back near Coda's group. Signal Man approached Heart Man, and apologized for his overeaction. "I'm sorry, Heart Man, I just made a dumb assumption and thought my friends were in danger... Also Cold Man is a good guy now. Might as well tell everyone."

"It's nice to see your family is back together, Heart Man... Say, Signal Man, did you, uh, lose something?" Beaker Man said.

"What? I lost something? Where?!" He was checking his body everywhere to see what he lost.

After a short time in the tight embrace, the Coda Robots released their grip on each other. Poison-Man walked over to Vestra, and quickly explained to her: "Oh, it's much more than a reunion, fox-lady, it's the welcoming of our once-dead brother!"

With the sudden burst of happiness gone, Heart-Man settled back into his business-like state of mind. "Catch him up on events he won't know about, brothers, there are other things I should attend to." As he looked around, wondering just what he should try to attend to, he found the new Light Robots coming at him.
He said nothing when Signal-Man explained why he had dashed off in such a hurry, but a warm smile returned to his face when he started searching for what he'd lost. "It's your speech pattern, Signal-Man--you've dropped your stutter. Looks like the display of aggression did you some good..." Here, Heart-Man's voice trailed off. Anyone who had been paying attention would know what he was thinking about.

ProtoMan then realized that hating the Coda family would do him more harm than he has caused to him now, and plus ProtoMan realized that he was just reacting to the situation to aggressively, and that the pain was his own fault. "Hmmm. I think I should apologize to Roll and HeartMan, but Roll first." ProtoMan thought, so off he went to search for Roll.

"... Oh, wow, it is! I never even noticed."

"Well, in order to better ourselves with the terrain, I suppose we should split into groups and survey the city. Sound good?" Watt Man asked.

"Fine by me," which was what most said. Watt Man quickly paired them up, and off they went.
---
Gust Man and Sleet Man, who were quite close, were paired together. "Say, Sleet Man... why were you blushing in that hospital?" he asked slowly.

He started to blush again, but shrugged his shoulders. Gust Man pretty much knew. "What is it? Pretty girl you saw in there?" he joked.

Sleet Man meekly nodded.

"Oh... Uh, gee... OK. Nothing wrong with that," he said casually, looking at the buildings on the side away from Sleet Man. The true purpose of this was basically to not try to embarrass Sleet Man or himself any more, but also to assess any major hiding points for enemies.

"Well, uh... Good luck with that, Sleet," he murmured quietly, and no more conversation was made.
---
Lift Man had been paired up with Hose Man. The time was spent by Lift Man complaining of the numerous damages done to the buildings. "Look at that! That'll require all new cement!" "That giant sinkhole will take months to fix!" "The glass in those windows are completely shattered, it's going to need an all new mold!" And so on.

Hose Man was more content on finding the girl who had scurried off into the city. Hmm... This Coda fellow obviously isn't a well-liked member of society, and he's managed to put his marks on that Heart Man, he thought to himself. This can't be his fault. Coda programmed to do this if he were asked, and he did... Roll... that's her name, right? Whoever she is, she needs help.
---
Signal Man was walking around with Beaker Man. "This place is a dump!" Signal Man said in disgust. "Wreckage everywhere. Those Wily bots really grind my gears..."

"I wonder what this place would look like if it weren't so... bleh," Beaker Man said. "Probably a lot nicer."

"Agreed. We'll be able to see it, perhaps, when the reconstruction takes place."

"True. I just would like it to be done and over with, though..."
---
Watt Man was paired with Shuttle Man. "This place is big! Probably great for drag races!" Shuttle Man said excitedly.

"No, no, no," Watt Man said calmly. "No leisure time in war, Shuttle Man. We'll help the inhabitants, fix this place up, and then leave."

"Aww, fine..." Shuttle Man moaned. They were carefully walking through the city, making sure to check all corners.

(...I totally expected him to get it back after he noticed he didn't have it anymore. Surprise, surprise.)

Heart-Man looked at Signal-Man wistfully as he walked off with his partner. He saw something that made him angry, and look what it did to him...if he's not, how can anyone think Roll's a monster?

As soon as Pyro-Man was caught up with recent events, they divided up into not four teams of two, but three teams of three--three was a good number, as two could fight while one alerted others if they ran into trouble. Heart-Man, Poison-Man, and Delete-Man formed one team; Pyro-Man, Wire-Man, and Shard-Man on another; and Fog-Woman, Tide-Man, and Blackout-Man, the last. As soon as they had negotiated who was in each group, the Coda Robots dispersed to patrol the outskirts of town, out to around where Vestra's lab was.
---
Shorde stood, staring at the train tracks. His friend, Proto Man, had forgotten that bio-forms were unfit to teleport in the same way as Robots. He knew it was right to save them, but couldn't they have at least stuck around and made the hike back with him?
Shorde quietly sighed to himself. He didn't want to walk all the way back to the Base, but he supposed he had no choice. So, carefully holding his blade with two hands, he started walking along the tracks, thinking about resting. After all, he hadn't slept in a day, and evening was slowly but surely creeping up on Mobius.
---
At this point, Roll had no idea where she was going or why she was going there instead of back home. She just didn't want to hurt anyone by accident, and to do that, she had to get away from them. Quietly ducking inside a mostly undamaged building to catch her breath, Roll thought about the modifications that had occurred to her--she was dangerous now, but not to enemies. Maybe her allies were right to call it "That Damn Sword"--
She lost grip of her thoughts, for at the edge of her consciousness, she thought she heard footsteps. Unsure if it was her imagination or not, but not wanting to take risks, Roll quickly got to her feet and sprinted up the stairwell to the seventh floor. Her light weight kept her from making too much noise as she did so, and as she quickly hid in a good-sized empty room, she wondered who--if anyone--she had heard.

(Umm... You want me to be those footsteps, or...?

Guess I'll take them. And, hehe, time to put good use to my unused MM7 buddy)

These footsteps belonged to a Robot Master of a tall size, though of course he had no idea she was in the building. Junk Man was patrolling around with Cloud Man, searching the area for anyone- enemy or no. They were checking buildings to make sure no suprise attacks could get to them. "I'll take this one. Get the one over there," Junk Man said to him.

Cloud Man nodded, and started up the floors. 1st floor, clear. 2nd floor, clear.

"Doesn't look like anything, Junk Man," Cloud Man called back.

"Keep checking, it's a high building," he said.

"Well, all right..." Cloud Man kept climbing the floors. The third, fourth, fifth, and sixth were all clear. "Junk Man, they would've put a scout here! There's no way anyone is in here."

"Oh, come on. There's two more floors left! Just keep checking!"

"... All right..."

Cloud Man rounded the stairs to the seventh floor, took a quick look around, sighed, then went up the next flight. "Nothing, Junk Man! We're all clear... though there is an E- Tank up here."

"See? It pays to look through the whole place."

"Aw, it's empty! It's useless, now..." Cloud Man came down a flight of stairs, and tossed the can. It, unexpectedly, hit with a clunk, like it was hitting metal.

"Huh? What the-" Cloud Man whirled around, and noticed Roll sitting there. "Roll? What are you doing here? Are you all right?"

"Hey, Junk Man! We got a friendly up here!"

"Who?"

"Uh... Roll."

"Roll? What is she doing in this sector?"

"Don't know... Come on up, see for yourself."

Soon the pounding of heavy footsteps came upon the stairs, and up came Junk Man, standing right beside Cloud Man. "Are you hurt? I got an extra E- Tank if you want it, Roll..." he said, fumbling around in a storage container in his chest.
---
"Hold up, Signal Man. I have an energy reading in... that building," Beaker Man said, pointing to the building occupied by the other three.

"Two enemies, one friendly. They must have one of ours hostage!" Signal Man said worriedly.

"Let's not confront them yet... Just hold up a bit. Let's see what they're doing first." They crouched into an alleyway, ready to strike at the first sign of trouble.

(It could have been anyone. Including just Roll's imagination, like I said.)
(But whatever, you seized the opportunity. Not who I expected, but alright.)

Roll regarded the two with a cold gaze. What was with everyone recently? The good guys were being awkward and afraid around her...now, the bad guys were being nice? "I'm fine, now what do you want?" She said, unfortunately for her, in a tone that clearly indicated how not-fine she was.

ProtoMan was walking blankly, wandering in search for his sister, then he just decided to call her, it would be easier. "ROOOOOOLLL!!!" ProtoMan screamed.
---------------------
Ballade just got finished with repairs and walked outside the base, strechted, and then walked down torward a forest, hopefully to find some enemies to fight.

Cloud Man heard the shout, but decided to ignore it. His chief concern right now was Roll.

"Listen, if there's anything you might need, we can offer it for you. All right? Come on, Roll, we're still friends. This whole war is dumb anyway. Wily is bound to lose, and everything will be back to normal. Right? It's what you always used to say when new rebellions sprung up..."

"Things change, Cloud Man. After that whole Coda thing, no one has ever been the same, especially her... probably because of us."

"Huh?"

"You knew we never spent much time with her after the whole fiasco. It's because we were scared, and you know that. Scared of what she might do if she were angered or reminded of all the stuff that happened... So things will never be the same."

"Oh, come on! I'm sure we can fix everything! It's not like she's a monster. She's still perfectly sweet and trusting-"

"War damages even the most pure of hearts. It's destroyed her. She's changed, Cloud Man, we have to accept that."

"I refuse to believe it. She's the same Roll I've known throughout my entire life. That won't change... Will it, Roll?"

It's true- Cloud Man was probably one of the only Robot Masters who still invited Roll to do stuff with him. He had often dropped by to sit and talk, never about how she felt on the actions before, just about daily life. He had shown her his cloudy 'fort' once after two months of the Coda Rebellion, which had gotten a lot of praise from her for being so soft and inviting. But, perhaps, he was being a bit too naive. He was afraid, deep down, the entire time. He was afraid of what might happen if she snapped with either grief, sadness, or anger.

"... I am right, aren't I, Roll? You're just the same, happy-go-lucky girl I knew right when I apologized. Right?"

Ballade went into the forest and searched for an enemy, but he must've figured out that the enemy wouldn't be hiding in a forest, but Ballade knew he was just bored, not a lot of things have been going on lately.
