At this, Fog-Woman allowed herself to laugh. "Well, you could've fooled me, with how much you know." Seeing that Mega Man seemed to be done for the moment, she started actually reading the comic. So that's his name...Sleet-Man? I don't mean to play hard-to-get, but I don't seek love in the first place...if he wants to court me, he'll have to do better than that. --- Heart-Man had patched up Drill-Man's wounds and was about halfway through the Drill Bomb launcher when he heard the call coming in--of course, a family member worrying about his patient. He supposed he shouldn't be surprised. He dropped his work for the time being and sprinted over to the communications screen, almost tackling Paradox out of the way. He paid no attention to the video--all that was coming through on that was static. Probably calling through something that doesn't get video, he thought. "Well, to answer your concerns, Vestra is far from fine, but she will be. She suffered a cut in her side and a stab in the lower torso, but both wounds have been cleaned and bandaged. Not only does her heartbeat remain, but she's breathing--assuming that she's still in there, her body should patch itself up with time. Now it's my turn--who are you, and how did you know she received these injuries so quickly?" |

A medic was busily patching up Roll's shoulder. He had experience with this type of injury- after all, he was the chief surgeon here. He doubted anyone would question him patching it up. The medic was a Top Fiend. Odd enough to be found in a medic outfit, but no one really cared. He was good at his job. "Hmm... Whatever the young miss did, it was certainly hurtful to her systems. Should be all right soon enough." He finished patching up the shoulder, and then went off to his next patient. "Ah, Fog Woman! Appears you've been fried with a Thunder Bolt... No exterior problems except for a bit of singing; a quick wash will get that right off." "Now, this won't hurt much. If you would like, you are allowed to power down." He quickly picked up a scapel, then waited for her response. |

Heart-Man, of course, had no concern for this--having never seen Sebek before, he assumed that he could talk. "Well, yes, Vestra should be fine. If you really care, you should probably get down here." --- "Oh, you didn't see it? Well, then, you're a lucky one. You'd wish you hadn't if you had." Fog-Woman dared not go into detail--from the sound of it, people wanted to forget what they had witnessed. "Of course, that's all the external damage, but I'd like you to take a look at my oil veins and my command transmitters, just to be safe. Just make it quick, alright? I hate sitting around and feeling useless." Crossing her arms, Fog-Woman closed her eyes and quickly powered herself off. |

The Top Fiend complied. He quickly sliced open her abdominal section, and took a look inside. His eyes narrowed for a few seconds, then he stiched her back up. He wrote something out on a clipboard, nodding, and powered her back on. "Looks like nothing is out of the ordinary. I noticed one of your auxiliary wires is frayed a bit, but it's only a back-up should the main one fail. I can fix that rather quickly, but there's no real danger, since you still have another. You must be pretty lucky; I've seen Thunder Bolt patients much worse than your case. You're free to go, Fog Woman." "Now, as for you, Rock..." he said quietly, looking him over, "I was told you needed a procedure to fix your processor cable system. Unfortunately, you are aware how long the system will have to settle for, correct?" "Two to four weeks," he muttered quietly. The surgeon looked at him incredously. "That short? Where did your medic go to medical school?" Mega Man looked at him with a fear in his eyes. "How long might it take?" "Well, your medic was correct for a smaller case, but after looking at you... It's going to be longer than that. Rupturing a processor cable system is like breaking a bone; you might be in here four to six weeks at minimum." Mega Man's jaw nearly dropped. "Six as the minimum? What's the most?" "If the damage is too bad, it might take three months." "NO!" Mega Man shouted, so loud the surgeon jumped. "I am not sitting in bed being useless to my team for that long! I'll work without it if I have to; I'm not staying here for twelve weeks!" "That's an extremely foolish decision. The processor cable system is vital for the position you're taking and the system you're operating on. Without it, you'll turn into Barrage Man's AI before Light's work on him." Mega Man groaned. Barrage Man was a Robot he fought previously trying to protect motorists from his giant missiles, and he could only see what his damages were, his status, and who was attacking him. The poor guy couldn't even figure out two plus two. Now he was much smarter, but Mega Man knew what he meant. "But surely it can't be that long. Right?" "We'll see," the surgeon replied flatly. He walked out the infirmary, presumably to ready some sort of scanning device. Before he went, he notified a medic to switch Roll on. Mega Man lied back in bed. "Three months... Argh, Light installed me with such outdated systems! I haven't been updated in years... All the other robots had their processor cables removed since they discontinued using the system I'm operating on, but Light said I needed them for the combat roles I took up... How I wish he wasn't right..." He only stared back at Roll, being turned on by the medic, desperate to be there for her, but unable to due to the sword. The thing she loved most next to her family. |

Fog-Woman blinked only twice as the medic spoke, soaking in the information. "Auxiliary, and it's only frayed? I really did get off lucky...I shouldn't have acted so weak after he blasted me. I'd better get to work finding everyone that got scared off--" Her contented expression practically melted off when she heard the medic reading off Mega Man's prognosis. --- When Roll was powered on, she didn't want to open her eyes. Her head hurt; she just wanted to lay there until she felt better. Her left shoulder felt pretty bad, too...come to think of it, Roll was having a hard time finding somewhere on her that didn't hurt. Groaning and barely wanting to move, she somehow found the strength to open her eyes. With how brightly the place was lit and from the feel of what she was laying on, she guessed she was in some medical facility--and she was looking straight at Mega Man. He appeared to be in a state similar to hers--fine-looking, but unhappy and unwilling to move. "Br--other..." she started weakly, finding as much trouble to speak as she did to move. "How did I get here...?" Footsteps came up behind her, and a voice she knew as Heart-Man's spoke. She didn't need to look at him to know he was feeling grim. "Remember when Virus took hold of you back at the train wreck? Well, it did it again, except different...you became incredibly aggressive towards all, and it was everything we could do to hold you back. You nearly killed both Drill-Man and Vestra, and you've put Rock over there in here for at least a month. The damages you've sustained were nothing compared to theirs--in order, you were shot with explosives twice, stabbed in the shoulder with your own sword, stunned with energy shots, then finally brought down when Mega Man hit you with a Thunder Bolt...not counting any blunt damages." Roll had stopped listening after she had been told of the damages she caused. Suddenly full of motivation to move, she leaped from her bed to kneel beside Mega Man's, looking at him carefully. "...Brother...I cannot believe my ears. Did I really do such horrible things?" |

"You're lucky. You'd have nearly impaled Dust Man if I didn't move into the line of fire." He put a hand on her right shoulder. "This isn't your fault, Roll, everything is fine. Drill Man will be repaired soon and Vestra will recover. I'll be back on my feet in-" The surgeon walked back in and finished the sentence. "Three months. Your processor cables were practically wrecked by the slash and all the oil dripping onto them. I'm sorry, Rock." "...three months. Back in three months." Mega Man forced a smile. Sitting in a hospital bed for three months where he's supposed to help win the war. Boy, was he lucky. "I guess it won't be too bad... after all, Quint can fill my place. He's technically the same as I am, anyway..." Mega Man sighed as Quint was mentioned. He was aware barely anyone liked him, but he would have to do, since Proto was being emo again and Bass was in no mood to help. "Don't worry about me. You'll be much more of a help if you're helping win this war." --- "I think he's done... good thing this one managed to keep his memory chip intact. Turn him on." A buzzing sound was heard, and Crash Man opened his eyes. New eyes. Not as comfortable as the old ones, but still all right. Crash Man stood up from the bed and hopped off. "Thanks, med. Where are my brothers?" "Heat Man's walking around, but the others are still being fixed." "Oh, yeah, right, that... Where's Rock?" The medic pointed over to the bed. He walked on over, and Mega Man told him his position. "Really? You're sitting here for that long? I... I'm sorry..." "Mind coming over here, Crash? I've got something to tell you..." "Sure." He kneeled down, and Mega Man pulled him close. "Please keep an eye on Roll... I don't trust you know who too much..." he whispered. Crash Man nodded. "I'm going to go see the progress on my brothers so far. See you, Mega Man." He walked off, hoping he could keep the promise given to him... |

Unfortunately for Mega Man, the quiet atmosphere of the infirmary combined with Heart-Man's heightened senses allowed him to pick up on what he said. He would have encouraged the same thing, in his position or not--but not trusting him? After all he and Dr. Light had said about their motives for being angry with him...they still wouldn't trust him? Heart-Man heated up his Welding Fist very slightly, and cursed under his breath. "Make up your mind...do you trust me or not?" He then remembered that he had to maintain his calmness--an angry doctor couldn't do their work. "Well, Mega Man, don't feel completely useless. You still have your strategy training with Dive-Man to think about--why, the greatest generals in history are the ones that never had to fight. Who knows? Maybe the conditioning will help you get out of here a little faster..." Of course, Heart-Man had no idea how much truth was in that statement, as he never operated on a Robot's nervous system like this. --- Although Roll couldn't sink any lower physically, she felt her spirits drop like a stone when Mega Man mentioned Quint. Even though he was him, Quint could never replace him--he was the most machine-like human Robot there was in today's society. He had far too much of a serious air as he watched the past, knowing that everything he witnessed was already "set in stone." He rarely spoke, even more rarely acted, and--worst of all--never smiled. At this point, Roll was beginning to tear up at Rock's bedside. It was her fault that he was like this...how could she depend on him if she did such terrible things to him? "He won't be the same, and you know it," she choked, unable to hold back her sadness. "If this keeps happening--if Virus keeps taking me--I'll be much more of a nuisance than a help. I...I need help, Rock, and I thought you could help hold me together...but I guess we're both going to fall apart now..." Edited by CHAOS_FANTAZY, Feb 7 2012, 11:13 PM.

"Yeah, I know, Quint isn't all that great from past experiences... But he'll be there if you need help. He's still basically your brother, Roll," he said with a chuckle. "As for your sword... I suggest getting some help from the one who installed the system in you..." he said, aiming a sort of sneer at Heart Man. He was angry at him now, that was for certain. "Now, if you'll excuse me for a moment, I think I have to have a little... chat with Heart Man over there." He was angry with him now- he wasn't aware of how bad the symptoms might be, but now that he knew... When the others had left, Mega Man aimed his eyes right at Heart Man. "Listen, you. One little toad once told me you said 'sometimes, you need to cause pain to make the healing possible'. Now you've gotten the pain part nailed pretty well. Think it's time for the healing to take effect. You'll train her to become better with that sword, Heart Man. You've caused me and my friends a lot of heartbreak recently, and you are going to make up for it, or so help me, I will storm out of this infirmary and let my brain turn to mush in order to crush you. Frankly, I don't trust you much, but who could really blame me? In reality, Light didn't tell me a thing. You better start helping her, Heart Man... helping her where none of us could... And don't forget Crash Man, either, he's still there. End of discussion." With that, he simply picked up his comic, and began to read through it. Until someone else walked in. "Mega Man, I heard-" "Yes, I'm not suprised. Quint, you'll have to take on my responsibilities for the time being." "What? I can't do that, Rock... Everyone here hates me." "Oh, come on! That's not true!" "Your- er, our sister does." Mega Man frowned. Yes, this was true, she certainly disliked Quint. Along with most of the Coda Robots. And some of his friends. Maybe his previous statement was correct. "OK, I guess you're right... Never mind. But you need to step up, Quint. You've gotta help." Quint frowned. "Well... I'll try..." "Good. Now, please just go inform Roll." Quint sighed and cast him a despairing glance, then trudged over to the hallway. |

Roll looked concerned for a brief moment when she was asked to clear out. However, she quickly remembered that even though he was injured, Mega Man would do anything to help her--so, knowing it was for the best, she quietly left the room with the other medics and repaired patients. --- Heart-Man sat down where Fog-Woman had been laying, listening to Mega Man's angry words nonchalantly. And, like his brother Pyro-Man, he wouldn't take a one-sided conversation. After Quint had left, he began speaking himself. "First things first...if you are so hellbent on taking me apart, then get in line. You're far from the first, and you should wait your turn like everyone else." "So a toad told you what I said. And you know what a train told me? He told me that it was your neglect and inability to confront the issue that spawned all of this in the first place. I don't mean to shift the blame off of myself, but don't act like you're the innocent one here. Crash-Man--and all the other cowards, for that matter--will run at the first sign of danger though, so..." Here, Heart-Man sighed. He was getting really tired of how useless his allies often wound up being. At the same time, he was glad that he had done this to Roll--when she became a real fighter after all this heartbreak, it would put these Robots to shame. "...so I guess I have no choice. Naturally, this is not the way that Virus is meant to be experienced...but your dumb allies have already screwed part of it up, so we will have to see what we can do. I shall discuss it with my brothers once my repairs are completed." With that, Heart-Man turned back towards the doors. "Alright, guys, get back in here!" |

Mega Man's eye twitched, but he didn't comment. Heart Man was suprisingly apathetic in comparison to her sister and brothers- even Poison Man seemed to care more. He only seemed to care what was Roll's best path of action; something that was his job. Last time I checked, I was her brother, damnit, he thought to himself. Yet he had to agree with Heart Man's statement- he and the others didn't help enough. The least he could do is not be a smartass about it... Crash Man would run, yes, and so would everyone else... And once Roll became good with that sword, he'd be put into retirement. It was a lose-lose situation every way he looked at it. Ever since those Coda bots barged into the scene, their picture-perfect world had shattered into a nightmare. And of course, Mega Man probably disliked Heart Man the most now. He seemed hellbent on trying to make Roll some sort of robot like him, and currently, no one was stopping him. That was starting to become problematic. He would even accept Wily's or Coda's help on this matter. --- Quint had trudged out of the hallway as Heart Man and Rock were conversing. "Hi, guys..." he said uncomfortably. "I just wanted to inform you that I'll be taking Rock's place. I'm perfectly aware that you all really aren't a fan of me... many of you would rather have me floating around in space as debris. But I'll try in all my power to fill his large shoes. So, I guess I'll go tell Dive Man..." he shuddered as he mentioned him. He quickly scuffled off and left the infirmary. |

Heart-Man could tell by his body language that Mega Man didn't like what he was told. It's clear that he's angry with me, but why? If he wanted to help Roll, he should've done it long before the Roboenza breakout...we're not nightmares; our support is and will be the only thing keeping the poor girl on her feet. Heart-Man put a hand on his chin, looking at Mega Man with little emotion. If he doesn't want my help, he should go help her himself, because right now, someone has to keep the girl from falling apart. Heart-Man was than aware of his Welding Fist on his left hand, slightly larger than his currently normal right hand. "I've spent far too much time talking and not enough doing. Maybe that's your problem, too." Grateful to get away from talking to this person who hated him for all the wrong reasons, Heart-Man took Drill-Man's deactivated body and continued work on repairing his Drill Bomb launcher. |

Mega Man couldn't agree more with him- which is what made him so furious. They had far too often talked about her among friends, and never tried to help enough. The problem that seemed so glaringly obvious, however, was somehow obstructed from Heart Man's vision- didn't he know how much this whole ordeal hurt everyone? How much it was even hurting Roll? Or was he blindly indifferent to all the sorrow and only looked ahead to Coda's previous plans of making a master creation? In his state, he just couldn't decide- but it seemed painful to notice how uncaring he was being after witnessing all of this... Mega Man decided to dismiss these thoughts for the time being, and continued to read. |

Sebek soon was standing over Vestra. Sebek: . . . He felt that he had to wake her up from the coma. He made sure nobody else was in the room, and he pulled out a syringe, with a strange substance of some sort within it. He knew the quickest way to awaken her was to force her into her Beserk state. He took the cap off of the syringe, and injected the syrum into Vestra's arm. Vestra awoke, going Beserk immediately. She threw Sebek against the wall as she let out a roar of primal rage, her vitals going off the charts. She got up and was about to smash Sebek's head in, when she managed to get a hold of herself, and calm herself out of the Beserk state. She took deep breaths, before looking at Sebek, feeling a little bad. Vestra: ...Sorry about that, Sebek. Sebek shrugged and smiled. He didn't care about that, he was just glad his mother was alright. |

Sparks flew as Heart-Man carefully reshaped the launcher. The patterns on the inside were vital to loading the Drill Bombs safely, and he had to be sure he did them correctly. It was mesmerizing work, so Heart-Man quickly let his anger slip out of his mind. How was it that one little Robot managed to make him so very angry in the first place? Not only did his hand jerk away from the launcher when he heard another female voice screaming, he pulled it away so far that he nearly melted Drill-Man's eyes. Still breathing heavily (He had initially thought it was The Infectant), Heart-Man slowly rose his head and glared at Sebek. "Boy, I don't know what you just did...but please, for the love of all that is holy, don't do it again." Heart-Man quickly finished work on Drill-Man's launcher, and powered him on. Trying to keep himself from talking to Mega Man again--which would only mean more trouble--he continued work on the Second Rebellion. --- Roll stood outside of the infirmary, suddenly feeling nervous and weak again. She didn't need to try to eavesdrop to hear shouting and mention of her name--she sighed. People were arguing about her again. She may have a blade to fight, but it seemed people would still not acknowledge her mouth to speak. ...Speaking of her blade to fight, she saw it laying on the ground out in the room she walked out to. Probably dropped it while I was crazy, she sadly thought to herself. She crouched down and quietly picked Virus up, but before she put it away, she noticed something odd about it. It felt lighter than it did before--and although it shouldn't be so notable for a one-handed sword, she took note of it. Standing up and getting into a fighting position, Roll also noticed that her left hand felt empty. A few weak slashes with her right showed that nothing was wrong with how she was holding the sword, but her idle left hand just struck her as being so...so inefficient. She dismissed these thoughts for the time being; after all, now was certainly no time to fight. She quietly put Virus away, taking more than a moment to locate her sheath. |

Drill Man shot up from the bed. "Why the hell do my eyes feel so warm?" he said to no one in general. "Bah, not important. I have to find who injured me so badly." He rocketed off from the bed, observing everyone carefully. He looked over Mega Man (boy, he looks angry...), the Top Fiend (he's too fat...) and Heart Man (he's a maggot, I don't lose to maggots!) Finally, his eyes setted on Roll. "Hmm... Now, you might've been him or her or it or them or whatever other pronoun that specifies a gender, either male or female, or neuter in some cases, but I digress..." He carefully looked at the sword in the hilt, checked her armor, looked into her eyes. "Aha! I knew it! The killer is..." "YOU!" he said suddenly, pointing to a grasshopper bot in the distance. The grasshopper bot looked confused, then started to make a break for it as Drill Man was dashing torward him. "You're green! I bet you hide a sword under your pillow!" The two had already left the infirmary before anyone could stop them. |
