Blackout-Man quietly looked around as more and more of these odd primitive Robots gathered around him. "So...is there something I'm not getting here?" he suddenly whispered. "There are a lot of us, but--with all due respect--most of you guys barely count, so all you planned on bringing was Sword-Man? I'm just not certain if that'll be enough," he continued with a sigh. "She's more than your average Robot Mistress...you can tell that just by looking at her armor, if her name wasn't enough of an indicator. Often times, these special units are only brought down by another..." Realizing just how little support was present, he was beginning to worry--for himself, of course, but also for Malware. To him, it looked like his effort would fail and he would die.
And his new sister would stay evil because of it.

"Oh, don't worry, Blackout Man," Volt Man said reassuringly. "Mega Man is also standing by. We should be fine as long as both are left standing..."

Blade Man was fuming at Blackout Man's comment. "Does anyone even remotely care that I was fighting her successfully? Come on, I don't have a scratch on me! It's grossly unfair we're never appreciated for any of our work!"

"I agree, being sent here as 'expendables' was very unfair, but it's not important now. Bring it up with Dive Man when he return," Volt Man said. They all watched the battle, seemingly stuck in a standstill.

"Oh, Mega Man? Good...you decided to take this threat seriously. I was worried before, but that just might do it..."
Feeling slightly more confident, Blackout-Man let his shoulders relax. After readying his blaster and crouching down in order to shoot out of hiding, he stood there, waiting and watching. As he watched the battle, he wondered if Malware was every bit as great as she claimed...would she really win this fight?
He wasn't sure who he wanted to win, come to think of it.

Time's up.

Paradox and Dynamite left the cave, and headed towards the base that Pyro mentioned. Paradox was very worried over Dynamite's health, hoping she would be alright, but unsure. Dynamite was trying to not think about it, trying to keep her mind off of her situation.

Dynamite: Nice weather... At least...
Paradox: ...Well, yes, but...
Dynamite: I always appreciated... The night sky... The stars are... Beautiful...
Paradox: Don't talk, conserve your energy.
Dynamite: *Chuckle* Don't worry... About me... I'll be... Alright...
Paradox: I'm going to make sure of that. But why did you do that? I could have helped, but you went at tried to take Lanteren on yourself!
Dynamite: He's... A lot more... Powerful than... You think...
Paradox: I don't care! We have to work together, to make it through all this.
Dynamite: ...I suppose... You're right...
Paradox: I promise you, I won't let anything else happen to you.
Dynamite: Don't make promises... You can't keep...

Paradox then spotted a figure approaching them: Lantern Man, with his Spot Flame ready. Paradox set Dynamite down, and stood between her and Lantern.

Dynamite: What are... You doing...?
Paradox: Holding true to my promise, that's what.
Lantern: Heh heh... Looks like you two never learn. Time to finish the job!

Lantern threw the Spot Flame at Paradox, and charged.

"Oh you bieng a sword user you'll LOVE it, I haven't used it since the Coda Rebellion." ProtoMan said as he opened up his buster and placed the sword handle inside. "3...2...1 OK it's installed." Proto said. A red beam shot out of his buster, but it wasn't traveling any further, and it was the length of a regular sword. And it wasn't a beam, it was an energy blade. "This my friend is my sword, is the Proto Blade. Now hand me the shield and RUN, i'll be right behind you."
-------------------------
"Arrrrg, COME BACK HERE!!!" Ballade said. He charged at them.

"What is this? A fight club?" Sword Man shouted out as he deftly dodged another strong blow. "Oh, what of it, Sword Man? They know you're going to win- right about now."

At this point, Sword Man swung his sword upward- and off went Malware's left hand. The arm was useless now.

"I still have my other arm!" Malware cried fearlessly. She transformed it into a blade until it too was shattered by a strong Flame Sword. "What do you intend to accomplish now? Getting oil on me?" Sword Man taunted. He swung the blade over his head, and put it down on the ground. "Face it, little girl. You are unable to win in this state."

Malware seethed with rage at being called a little girl. She kicked off the ground, and turned her feet into blades, aiming straight for Sword Man's face- until she slammed into a wall.

Dazed and confused, Malware struggled to see the weapon- a yellow, electrified drill. She then went limp, and was knocked out. Bit Man stood erect, his left arm hanging in the air, a determined expression on his face. He swiveled his head over to Blackout Man. "Don't underestimate our abilities by our appearance. We're a lot stronger than we might look," he said shortly.

"Oh, no one's gonna believe us on that, Bit Man. Everybody thinks we're complete wimps!" Wave Man shouted in protest.

"Do you?"

"Uh... no..."

"Then not everybody does. Get the body, we'll need to bring her back to the base for medical assistance and most likely imprisonment." He motioned for Volt Man to pick her up, then for Shark Man to retrieve Dyna Man's twisted corpse. "Let's roll out, boys," Oil Man ordered, spawning an Item 2. He started to race off.

Shorde just sighed. This wasn't the first he had seen of energy blades, and to him, they just didn't feel as right as a cold steel sword. In addition, that wall shield of his isn't going to do him much good if he's going to be serious...he'll wind up hiding the whole time, never able to get a swipe in. He'd be better off with a spear...
In his absentmindedness, Shorde had all but stopped running after Proto Man took his shield back. Suddenly snapping back into consciousness when he heard Ballade's charging footsteps, his tired mind quickly formulated a plan. Not enough time to draw his sword, and his punch wouldn't stop him at all. That left but one solution.
Shorde silently stepped to the side and extended one leg, tripping Ballade up as well as he could.
---
"Oh, sure, you may have the greatest weapons in the whole wide world. That doesn't change the fact that your armor does about as much good for you as a tin can."
Blackout-Man, while remaining calm on the outside, but he was really shocked. From what he had seen, Malware was slow, uncoordinated, and failed to take full advantage of her powers. Shameful, truly shameful! Especially for a Coda Robot!
Which got him thinking. Sort of a rare occasion for him to think late at night. What if Malware threw the fight on purpose so they would take her back to the Light base? No, that couldn't be right...he could see her seething with rage during the fight. Had they really, truly, legitimately beaten her without use of their own "Super Robot?" Was she really unconscious?
"Woah, man, too much thinking." With a couple blinks, Blackout-Man dismissed these thoughts from his head. "Now's not the time for thinking...not now." His guard completely gone now, Blackout-Man switched his blaster back to a hand, and picked up Malware's limp, deactivated body. When Volt-Man approached him to carry it himself, he glared at him intensely and said, "I think I should have the right to carry my sister." After that, he spun on his heel and departed the building, headed back towards the Light base.

Bit Man just sighed. "It just never changes... We accomplish something, and someone else decides there's still one damn flaw in us. Jeez, Blackout Man, isn't Mega Man's armor strong? Didn't stop Virus from punching a few holes in him, did it? What do we have to do to ever gain some appreciation from anyone? Save the entire world? Or would it only seem laughable to everyone? Would they dismiss that effort, too?" Bit Man only looked at the ground. "You'll never know how it feels to be dismissed as worthless- expendable, even... To think, after we accomplish a job that Mega Man was assigned, it's considered a dumb stroke of luck." He angrily kicked a can sitting in his way. Tired and restless, he couldn't believe such disheartening and unfair assignments and words were pushed onto him and his brothers. How were they supposed to move up in their society if they were continually oppressed by not only their enemies, but their allies, too? It made him think.

We'll never gain appreciation from anyone around here if we keep sticking to this side... Wily gave us a chance once... Maybe he'll give us another? It's worth a shot. Better than being given suicide missions and rebukement for another's job being stolen... Bit Man simply dismissed these thoughts. It was bad enough to be called weak- why would he want to be called a traitor, too?
---
Volt Man simply put up his hands and took a step backwards. "But of course. I'm not stopping you."

He then turned to Bit Man. "I couldn't agree with you more, but for now, the best course of action is to continue being worthy soldiers of-"

"You mean deadbeat piles of junk that can be used for any menial or suicide task?" he interrupted crossly.

Volt Man was taken aback, and did not finish. Bit Man only shook his head, and walked off. Unfortunately, Bit Man was right. They were never used for anything. Usually considered to be too old or not useful or fast enough to serve, they were either used for guard duty, cleaning or repairing the base, or simply being sent on missions with little chance of survival. The only three that really went anywhere else was Oil Man, Bit Man, and himself, who were appointed auxiliary generals. It was cruelly ironic considering the Third Rebellion Bots were used for full fledged missions, even though they were older than the DOS bots. Volt Man couldn't help but share Bit Man's angry thoughts. "Is there any way for us to ever gain respect? Surely my way isn't working well..." he muttered bitterly. He slammed his Item 2 on the ground. Then, shaking his head, he calmed himself, and boarded it, heading for Oil Man.

Blackout-Man didn't say anything back to the warriors. They were angry, no doubt; and saying something back would only make them angrier. As Blackout-Man walked on foot (Before realizing that he had received Item 2 from his brother and riding on that) out of earshot, he whispered to himself. "Gosh, it's not my fault...in fact, I think it's wonderful you're trying to better yourselves."
Speaking of bettering oneself, he thought, shifting his gaze slightly to look at the incapacitated Malware on his shoulders. "Sister, dear...I know what's running through your head. I thought the same thing too once, believe you me. But Coda is an evil man now, no matter how smart, and that means we just can't serve him. ...I just hope you can see that before you do something stupid to earn even more hate for yourself than we have."

Rounding a tight corner on his hoverboard, Blackout-Man felt it good to end his little monologue there. Wait until brother Heart-Man hears how easily she went down, he thought to himself as he turned again, nearing the Light base.

Volt Man had caught up with Oil Man eventually, and explained the situation to him. "Not very surprised," he replied to a shocked Volt Man. "If it's rebellion they want, let them have it. Better than sitting around and being called for useless tasks." He then raced ahead, hoping to pick up Dark Man 1.

Volt Man feared what his brother mentioned.

Rebellion.

After several more turns and more than a couple close calls, Blackout-Man entered the Light base. He silently entered the infirmary, setting Malware on a bed. "Okay, Heart-Man...here she is. Supposedly, we managed to beat her...I never even had to fire a shot. I know, you're every bit as shocked as I am. Anyway, Sword-Man managed to cut both of her hands off," he added as he placed her gloved, severed hands on a table. "...and as you can see with a look at her boots, her weapon lies within."
Heart-Man took a look at his sister, and nodded. "Tie her up in the toughest metal chains you can find. I'll repair her, but we can't have her getting loose. Not after...this. You know how we all get when we're angry, and I can only assume it's the same way for her."
---
A few minutes later, Malware was tied to her bed and in perfect condition. Instead of reattaching her hands, Heart-Man had simply patched up the ends of her arms ("Best not to give her her weapon back"). Heart-Man and Blackout-Man stood over their sister, both wondering the same thing: "Should I turn her on?" On one hand, there was no doubt she would be angry upon being woken, and the chance that she might break her bonds was very real. On the other hand, both of them really just wanted to talk to her, and there were so many in the Light base that even if she was stronger than expected, they would still be able to restrain her...
Heart-Man broke the silence. "Well, we'll be all too busy tomorrow, and I don't wanna wait two days." With that, he reached out to his unconscious sister and flipped the power switch.

A couple floors up from the infirmary, in a quiet recharging station, Roll shivered and pulled an emergency fire blanket over herself.

Dynamite opened her eyes.

Dynamite: Is... Is it over?
Paradox: Yeah. It's over. Let's go.

Paradox helped Dynamite up, stepped around what was left of Lantern's mangled corpse, and left back for the base.

Malware's eyes adjusted to the dim light. She tried to stand up, but she felt she was being restrained by something. Looking up, she saw she was bound with chains. Not exactly how I pictured to be entering here, she thought to herself. She knew it would seem heathenish and stupid to strain against these chains, so she just put her head back down slowly.

The next thing she noticed was the two robots standing over her. "Well, well, well, isn't this just a little family reunion. Can't say I'm happy to be related to you, but beggars can't be choosers. Who's your friend over in the corner?"

She nodded over to Fake Man, his arms crossed, buster glowing. "Only here to make sure we don't recieve trouble from you, miss. I'm not the one doing the talking- though I might be if you make some foolish mistakes." He then turned his speech to Heart Man. "It's Dive Man's orders. I can wait on the other side of the door if wanted."

Malware only shrugged. The two people she was concerned with most was the two looming over her. "What do you want? It's obvious you're not missing your master much..." she said crossly.

Blackout-Man smiled and waved to his sister--most likely a brief lapse of his nighttime behavior. "Good morning, sis! I see you've helped yourself to my clothes in my absence. Maybe my reputation, as well...I would think you, of all people, would be very familiar with the police force. I know I am."

Meanwhile, Heart-Man nodded back at Fake-Man. "As a matter of fact, I would like you to stay in here. I can only guess this young woman is only more of what we are--easy to anger, and a lot more than what the eye sees." After that, he switched on his communicator and called the other Coda Robots that weren't in the base or asleep, and a few minutes later, Wire-Man, Delete-Man, and Tide-Man strode in. "Now it looks much more like a reunion, wouldn't you agree?"

"Sister, dear...now that I know you weren't awake to hear it, I'll have to repeat myself. I know what you're thinking right now--we all do. We all thought the same thing when we were still with him. But Coda is an evil man now, no matter how smart, and nobody should be working for him." Blackout-Man clenched his fists, and closed his eyes briefly. Then suddenly, he pumped his fist into the air. "So I'm going to do everything in my power to pull you into the light, even if I have to beat the truth into you like it was into us! ...Who knows?" he whispered very quietly, "maybe one day he won't be evil."
"But for now," Tide-Man interrupted before Blackout-Man could go on, "we've got to interrogate you like any other prisoner of war. Why don't you start by telling us all about these blades protruding from your feet? Seems like an odd place for a weapon to me."

"Urk." Ballade said as he tripped over but regained his composure. "Ha!" Ballade laughed. Then Ballade saw ProtoMan's blade coming torward his head, he ducked, then ProtoMan kicked him in the face. Ballade then grabbed Proto's foot, but Proto cut Ballade's arm off. "Aaaaarg!" Ballade said as he picked up his arm. "Oh, well looks like your back in for repairs again." ProtoMan said. "Not this time PROTOTYPE!" Ballade said as he jumped up did a quadruple flipe over ProtoMan and Shorde. ProtoMan looked down to see a bunch of Ballade mines. "Shorde, MOVE!" ProtoMan shoved Shorde out of range, then Proto jumped up and put his shield below him and was launched up from the explosions, then landed right back where he was launched from. "Flashy and impressive, but ineffective." ProtoMan said

Malware frowned. "Maybe if you stuck around a bit longer, you would've found out. Those aren't blades- they're the blade. I'm able to summon them from either of my hands or feet. Virus 2.0, in a way. And Coda isn't evil- he's right. Our civilization is controlled by sloth, greed, and hard, gruesome work put onto the backs of other robots, because humans are afraid to do it themselves. The world is a cold, hateful place, where humans treat robots like dogs- it creates distrust in both leagues. Like the friends you brought along, brother." Malware smirked after this. It was true- Dive Man's strained, hoarse voice was heard in the room right above them, followed by another, calm and calculating, yet clearly angry. The two kept on shouting at each other.

"Master Coda will see to it that robots work in peace and harmony with humans- and themselves. It is unfair for a Shield Attacker to take bullets from criminal guns while the police behind them sit like cowards, trying to get their own shot. No one asks them how they feel about it, do they? And every day, older robots are sent to Junk Man's scrap heap by newer models. It isn't fair for them, after a long, hard journey of nothing but working year round for twenty or thirty years, to be retired so soon and abprutly. Coda has scrapped his whole 'robot revolution' idea- no, he knows it shall not work. Instead, he has created the 'robot harmony' idea. And he intends to accomplish it any way he sees fit- whether by nonviolence and silent protest, or brute force and utter chaos. And whatever my master wishes, I shall do."

Fake Man cocked his buster in the second position, as if waiting for something to happen. All that followed was a long period of silence.

Suddenly the door swung open, and Fake Man nearly blew the head right off of Medic Man. "Jesus, donut-cheeks! Watch where you point that thing!" He turned his face (and snarky attitude) to Heart Man. "Excuse me, but where did you get your doctoring degree? The M.D. School of 'I'm obviously not fit to be a full time doctor?' Rule No. 36: Keep all hospital beds clear in order to get paitents out in efficent time. We sort of need that bed for one of our paitents! Preferably not with a handless girl tied up in chains on it!"

"And what are you running here, an executioner's office? Where are the girl's hands? I don't care if it's an innocent girl or a complete superweapon, you better put those hands back on!" The robots continued to stare at him. He started to snap into Heart Man's face. "Hello? Anyone in there? We just had an explosion in where thirty seven of our soldiers were involved! Get moving, now now now!" He then stormed out of the room.

Malware only giggled. "Boy, you have some fun work partners, don't you, brother?"

(I'm starting to like Medic Man quite a bit.)

Heart-Man glared at the other doctor, and suddenly, he could relate to what Malware was talking about when she mentioned being replaced. "Sister, just be quiet. You know well how we get when we're angry."
When Medic-Man left before Heart-Man could retaliate, he just sighed in frustration. What a coward. After staring at the bed for a while, wondering if there was any other way, he eventually decided that there wasn't. With a quick flick of his wrist, Heart-Man cut the chains with his Circle Saw.

"We're trusting you to move with us. Don't mistake this as us liking or forgiving you." Heart-Man took Malware's hands from the table, and carefully stored them. "And don't expect to get those back anytime soon, either."
As the Coda Robots moved in a tight cluster towards where they could only hope was a prison cell strong enough to contain her, they continued. "That's a very noble thing to work for, sister, but I doubt you'll achieve it by working for him. For one, you're forgetting the most important thing--most attacking drones like Shield Attackers have no sentience like us." "Robots have been freed from their path to being scrapped time and time again--do not act like it happens to everyone. Otherwise, our dear Mega Man who defeated us so would not have been alive to do so." "Say, how do we know he wasn't lying to you? He lied to us about what we were doing, and he'd lie to you too. How do we know you're not lying to us?"

Malware gave a flash of fury. "Lie? To me? Clearly you've gone soft. Coda is an honest man. I don't see why or how you are even able to question his judgement. Unlike Light, who sits around all day and gives hacker fodder, or Wily, who sticks to using unimproved older models to accomplish impossible tasks, Coda sees to it that every one- or at least most- of his creations are improved to be up to standards. He trains them himself one by one. You should remember that."

They soon reached the prison doors. Flash Man was sitting in one of the cells, his hands folded, staring down at the ground. Air Man was in another, playing around with a small tornado. Then there was Bubble Man. He was lying on the ground, eyes wide open, seemingly stiff and dead. Every so often, he would blink.

"The acid wrecked him," one of the guards said bluntly, and that was that.

Soon enough, an open cell was found. "Here you go. Sword-proof. This will hold her well."

"Oh, she'll see that as more of a challenge than a statement. Sword or no sword, she'll find a way to get out of here...but I suppose it's the best we've got. Lock her up."

"Blackout-Man, you stay here and guard her. The rest of us are going back to work." Heart-Man and the others dispersed back to their typical activities--Heart-Man went back to the infirmary to repair the injured; Tide-Man went to join the angry voices upstairs; and so on.
Relieved to no longer be on guard, Blackout-Man sat down against the wall, just looking at his sister. He was unsure what to think now...he was unsure if he should even attempt conversation. Eventually, he broke the silence: "Well...now I'll ask you a question. Why are you so mean? Not even we were mean when we worked for him."
---
As Heart-Man returned to his post, he heard a knock on the door that made him stop abruptly. He opened it to see the two friends he had met from the latest Rebellion--and one of them didn't look so good at all. "You guys just can't stop getting hurt, can you? Well, what are you waiting for; some sort of invitation? Come in, come in!"
---
"Hey, man, thanks! I, er, could've saved myself, but I appreciate the thought." Shorde dusted a couple quills out of his eyes with two fingers, then waved to Ballade. "Hey! Come on; can't you catch me?!" After his taunt, he sprinted off towards the city, hoping to find the Light base.
