Time's up.

Paradox and Dynamite went on in.

Dynamite: Hey, I don't want to stand around doing nothing.
Paradox: He's right, though. You're too wreckless! You make me worry over you too much...

"Mean? I'm not mean. Just... abrasive." She then sat down, not at all caring if conversation started or not.

Flash Man, meanwhile, grew increasingly restless. "Move over, you overgrown intake valve! Is he any better?"

"No. Why would he be?" Air Man remarked flatly, playing with a tornado in his hands. Flash Man sighed in anger. He was one of his closest brothers- the one who was the founder of their revenge plot against the third rebellion. For him to sink to the system that could lose against Barrage Man's previous one was awful.

"War makes things change..." Flash Man mumbled sadly, and did not speak again.
---
"What, you think jobs like those are ever going to work in our favor?!"

"No! I don't have time to argue-"

"Then make time, you bloated fish grubber!"

"What did you just call me?!"

"Maybe you should be installed with better soundwave receptors so you didn't miss it!"

"I spent 15 years in the Navy- do I really have to show you the punishment I administered there?"

"I'd like to see you try!"

"Your fight against Malware was just dumb luck-"

"Bullshit!" Suddenly, a smashing sound was heard.

"Do you want me to give you a disrespectful discharge, you traitors?"

"How about we quit?"

"Fine! Whaddya gonna do now?"

"This!" What sounded like an explosion followed, and then a shout followed by moaning sounded through the base.

Volt Man and his siblings burst out the door. "Clear the doorway, Dyna, Torch, and Oil! Shark, take Sonic and Wave, and go get Malware's hands! Bit, Blade, you're with me! We're going for the prison cells."

They split up into the three groups, going for their respective areas.
---
Medic Man was busy taking stock when he came across the hands. "Hmm... That fellow can't follow simple directions. I'll go stitch 'em on myself."

"If you know what's good for you, you'll give those hands to us."

Medic Man whirled around, and noticed the three robots. "Ha! You think I'll hand these over to you? Who's the doctor around here?"

Shark Man smiled. "If that's how you want it, be my guest." Suddenly he flung himself onto Medic Man, his teeth flashing and being sprayed with oil. By the time he was finished, only some of the chasis was left. "Urp. Tasty. Take the box." Wave Man picked it up, and they ran a different way to avoid being caught by Heart Man.
---
Flash Man continued to sit, enveloped in his dark thoughts, while Air Man stood up. "What the hell was..."

An object pierced through Flash Man's prison door, and exploded. Flash Man covered his eyes, and saw it was Volt Man with Bit and Blade Man. "What are you doing? I thought-"

"Let's go! Take care of Blackout Man, somebody!" Blade Man nodded. "If you know what's good for you, you'll let us go with these four... But I can easily knock some persuasion into your head if wanted."

Volt Man, meanwhile, put up his Force Field, and started to open the locks to Air Man's and Bubble Man's cells.

Blackout-Man practically disregarded Malware's answer. In his mind, he was dismissing a lot of what she said--her depiction of Coda didn't sound like the Coda they knew at all.
---
Tide-Man burst through the door--or, rather, what was left of it--upstairs. "Dive! I was coming back, but then I heard an explosion and...what happened?!"
---
Heart-Man smiled at the couple. "She's right, you two really ought to be careful. This is a battleground, not a playground, despite what some may think."
Then he heard an explosion echo throughout the base. "And you can start by guarding these doors. Don't let anyone in or out!"

Heart-Man burst into the infirmary to see how his patients were doing, and to his surprise, he found not the other medics, but Medic-Man's oily corpse and three of the primitive Robots he had seen a long time ago, when he was helping Skull-Man.
And one of them was holding Malware's severed hands.
They didn't see him, but they beat a hasty retreat--whatever they were doing, they obviously didn't want to get caught. Heart-Man could only guess what happened, but he had a pretty good one. And he'd need backup. Powering on Skull-Man's unconscious form and yanking him from the wall before he was done booting up, he charged after the three fleeing Robots. As he switched his idle left hand to his Circle Saw, a whisper, then a shout escaped his lips. "Hey, Skull-Man, it's been a long time. I'm sorry for not keeping in touch, but that's not important...we need to beat those guys over there. Please, help me...HEY! This is the thanks I get for repairing you, huh?! Murder and theft! Get back here!"
---
Blackout-Man stared in shock for a few seconds, and quickly jumped to his feet. He was about to play the nice guy and ask why they were doing this--but he quickly stopped himself. He had been the nice guy a bit too much lately, and his nighttime madness was seeping in.
"Awwww, did I make the little babies mad?" he teased, a tone of malice suddenly overtaking his his voice. "Did I hurt the little droid's feelings with my stray comment? Well, from the looks of it, you've come back for another round...and this is the round where I damage your body. The only place I'm letting you go is a shallow grave!" He switched his right hand to his blaster, keeping his other for punching in case Blade got a bit too close for comfort.
Blackout-Man's Black Blaster had five Light Bullets in every clip, and at least one of them was guaranteed to be a Black Bullet. Given that this would stun them for a good melee blow, it was imperative that he hit the offending party with that one Black Bullet. The gun would slowly reload itself, but manual reloading with his offhand was faster--all it took was a tug on the lower half of his arm, as if reloading a shotgun. Presently, he fired off all five of his clip--the Black Bullet being the third--at the group, hoping to be the one to inflict the first blow.

Two of the bullets absobed into the Force Field, while Blade Man deflected two and sliced the black one in half. "Buddy, that was a bad idea." Blade Man swung the blade in various directions to show off his skill- and skill he had. It was possible that he could even spar off against the real Blade Man- perhaps even win. "Why don't you try that again? I bet I could put a few holes in you after you run out of gun."
---
Skull Man was yanked out of a peaceful sleep. "What the... What's-"

He then heard Heart Man shouting. He didn't like that sound.

He stumbled around slowly. Arming his buster, he strained to see what was going on. All he could see was three fuzzy things running away from another fuzzy thing in a fuzzy hall. "Hrgh... What's going on?" he muttered angrily.
---
"Get outta here, you fool! We're on a mission, which you aren't allowed to interfere in!" Wave Man shouted. Sonic Man turned around, and bounced a few Sonic Waves off of the walls.
---
"Glad you asked. We got a mutiny on our hands, pal, and so far they're doing pretty well." Dive Man looked at his open chest, which was dripping oil. "Eh. I've had worse. Listen, Tide Man, I've made an awful mistake. Those DOS robots are a force to be reckoned with- I never understood in time, and now it's mushroomed into a very bad problem. Go intercept the bots at the door- I'm off to the cells." He rushed out the door, and turned left.
---
It was fairly easy to see Dyna Man's path of destruction. Broken, oily bodies of robots, including that of Ring Man, were scattered around the hall. The three were overlooking the destruction with a look of despairing satisfaction on their faces. "We won't be called drones after this, brothers," Oil Man muttered, bleeding from a wound inflicted by Ring Man. "Get the truck ready, Torch." Torch Man nodded, and headed off.

"I never liked swords," Blackout-Man commented slyly, still keeping his maniacal smile. "And you have a lot to learn...the first being, I don't run out of gun."
Blackout-Man swiftly reloaded his blaster, then emptied another clip--this time, focusing fire on the idling Bit-Man.
---
Heart-Man wanted to keep dragging Skull-Man, but he had no choice--if he wanted to get the escapees, he'd have to fire a shot. "Come on, Skull, stay with me..." With his faith placed on the fact that he'd be awake enough to follow, Heart-Man switched his right arm to his Regen Cannon, and fired four shots at the group.
---
Tide-Man just nodded. He knew when it would be better to speak and better to just nod--and now was one of those times. With a quick move, he punched the ground, breaking a hole in the floor and falling through to the ground floor.
Tide-Man fell quickly with his heavy armor--something he appreciated a lot. I'll have to remember to fix that later, he thought as he bolted off to the main entrance.

Bit Man flung himself into the doorway, and peeked around after the shots were fired. "Well, then, let's see how you like this!" he shouted, and the familiar shooting sound rung out again as a Bit Cannon started to fly right torwards Blackout Man.

Bit Cannons are electrified drills fired by Bit Man. They had already shown their power against Malware, Dive Man, and a barred cell door (which was lying on the ground, by the way). Any hit, either direct or indirect, was guaranteed to hurt quite a bit.

Blade Man bended forwards to allow the Bit Cannon to fly right into his adversary, which seemed nearly impossible to dodge.
---
Shark Man groaned at how Sonic Man's attack did nothing. He grabbed an idle bot by his head with his jaws, and flung him right at Heart Man. "See if you can dodge that!" The main door was already in sight, and Tide Man was quickly converging from the left. Dyna Man waved over to Torch Man, who brought the truck over. The robots piled in, and left to pick up their last brothers. They parked the truck inside the garage among a numerous amount of others, and scattered, waiting for Volt Man.

Great; they've opened the first cell...I can't let them reach Malware! Unable to dodge the shot, Blackout-Man crossed his arms over his chest and resisted it as best he could. When the drill was done with him, Blackout-Man slid backward, but managed to stay on his feet. The ultraviolet lights on his arms flickered--they didn't take that extra dose of electricity too well.
"Are you all cowards?! If you want my sister, come and get her! I will not budge an inch!" Briefly reloading his weapon, Blackout-Man charged at Volt-Man, raising his fist for a powerful punch.
---
As the Robots escaped in their getaway vehicle, Heart-Man shot a glare of hatred at Paradox and Dynamite. "I told you to guard this door." With a quick nod at his brother, the two gave chase to them.
They found the truck's path to be very short--it was just going around to the other side of the Light base. An entrance very close to the prison...

Paradox sighed.

Paradox, to herself: Not much we could do, nimrod...

Then, a shadow eclipsed the base. A very, very huge shadow.

Volt Man only laughed. "This Force Field is impregnable! Nothing as measly as a punch can do something to it- only nuclear power is able to stop it. And I doubt you'd have any of that on you, hmm?"

"Hey!"

Bit Man turned to face the shout- Dive Man. "You again? Listen- we aren't stopping just because you show up. Do I need to remind you what happened just a few seconds ago?" he said angrily, revving up one of his drills.

"You aren't taking a step further, Bit Man. Yeaaargh!" Dive Man charged at him with one of his Dive Tackles-

-and the next moment he was hurtling through the air, crashing into a wall. "Ergh... You think that'll stop me?"

"No, but it gives us enough time to free the others." Another gate swung open- Bubble Man's. "Stop it, Bit Man! You have no idea what the consequences are if you free Malware!" "Why should I listen to you? No one but Wily gave us respect! I'm gonna rip you apart, bit by bit if I have to!"

Volt Man was casually taking his time opening the gates, knowing there wasn't any threat to him. "Move over, Volt Man!" Flash Man shouted with a hint of malice. Volt Man protected him as he blasted the lock off the cell. "Come, m'am. Our chariot awaits," he said jokingly. Malware flashed a smile at him, then at Blackout Man. "See you later, brother," she jeered mockingly.

Then they went past Dive Man, groaning on the floor, and into the garage.
---
"Ha! Easy as pie. Now all we got to do is jump the coop and we're off to Wily's stronghold," Blade Man announced triumphantly.

"I appreciate you saving me. Did you manage to grab my hands as well?" Malware asked.

"Yep. Shark Man grabbed them."

"Excellent."

"All right, guys, this way," Bit Man said. The rescue truck was in sight.

"Wave Man, the hands." Wave Man handed the box over, while Torch Man carefully welded them back on.

She summoned a blade from her hand. "Good. Very good. Me, Flash Man, and his brothers will take another truck. Give me a few of yours... Shark Man, Bit Man, and Volt Man will come with us. Understood?" The others nodded. "Get going, then! You six, with me."

Suddenly, the two trucks roared out of the garage, nearly rolling right over Heart Man and Tide Man. One of them went left, while the other went right. The trailers were shut, so it was impossible to know which contained which.

Blackout-Man just fell onto his knees in hopelessness. Though defeated and speechless on the outside, his mind was thinking very quickly. How could this have happened? How could one stray comment about their armor possibly make them so angry? Do they know what they've done with themselves? Why, I hope she betrays them and cuts them into spare parts...

It was all Tide-Man and Heart-Man--Tide especially--could do to avoid the crunch of tires as two of the trucks suddenly revved up and hauled out. By the time they managed to pick themselves up again, the two teams were long gone.
---
Deciding to regroup for the moment, Heart and Tide went into the prison. They didn't need to ask to know a fight had gone down. Heart-Man looked at Blackout-Man, and they spoke briefly. "One death?" "Four escaped prisoners."
That was all they needed to hear. Tide-Man and Heart-Man fell beside their brother, staring at the ground. "How could we let this happen...?" "Outsmarted, outspeeded, outnumbered by a couple of weak drones..." "And sister won't be happy to see us again, either..."
The brothers shut their eyes, and remained silent for a long time. What was so infuriating about this? Was it losing their sister? No, they had anticipated that...was it the sheer fact of losing without ever even being hit? No...it was the fact that they had lost to those pathetic tin cans.

A quick glance at each other showed them, to no surprise, that the three were in complete harmony. Heart-Man stood up once more, with Tide and Blackout behind him. "Come, brothers, I know you feel what I feel. We must go and seal up this anger, this righteous fury, that we may release it upon them the next time we meet. No more playing cowardice...I don't know how long the training will take now, but as soon as it's over, we are taking the offensive!" The three stormed off to a charging room for the night, and as they went through the facility, the remaining Coda Robots still awake joined them.
Leaving Dive-Man completely alone in the prison room.

Dive Man struggled to get up yet again. After that was accomplished, he merely stood there. A well-coordinated team effort, no casualties, and quick.
It rivaled those he thought up of.

Reports were flooding in- Medic Man dead (not that he minded that so much), Ring Man dead... And all Dive Man could do was sigh. He then picked up his chin, held his head high, and said quietly, "No more." Dive Man's head was going a mile a minute. It was wrong of me to consider the DOS robots as worthless, pathetic, and weak. I'll make sure I don't lose more... We'll have better training, better supplies, and better fighting spirit. Then we'll really make those Wily bots start crying for their pappy.

Dive Man nodded silently to himself. He strode out of the prison cells, ready to make things change...

Before running right into Skull Man. "Caught 'em."

"What? How?"

"Shot the engine of the truck. Malware wasn't inside, though."

Dive Man took on a ferocious glance, then calmed himself. "Bring them to me."

Paradox sighed.

Paradox: Why does the situation always have to get worse?
Dynamite: It'll get better.
Paradox: You don't know that.
Dynamite: I do, though. Good guys always win.
Paradox: Have you SEEN the destruction caused on this planet? We've practically lost already.
Dynamite: This war is getting dangerous.
Paradox: True. And, I don't want you getting hurt.
Dynamite: ...If you want, I'll stop.
Paradox: Huh?
Dynamite: I won't be involved anymore, and I won't put myself in danger.
Paradox: Dynamite... Thank you...
Dynamite: Anything for you, Paradox.

"Well, well, well, look what we have here."

The six robots caught by Skull Man- Dyna Man, Oil Man, Blade Man, Torch Man, Wave Man, and Sonic Man- were sitting glumly in prison cells. It seemed impossible that their perfect plan exploded in their faces. All ruined by Skull Man, who had slipped away from Heart Man at just the right time to intercept their truck. None of them answered.

"You maul one of our medics. You wreck one of my brothers. You free a dangerous prisoner. All for what?"

"To show we could be a threat."

"And a threat you are. Where are the other three?"

"Gone. They went with Malware."

"You want to know why?"

No answer.

"She thought the rest of you were weak. Pitiful piles of scrap metal. Not much use other than target practice."

No answer.

"Meant for the scrap piles years ago. Yet for some reason, you stuck around. What for? To be called weak and useless? To never make it anywhere than your current position? Or to rise yourself from the ground, brush off every mean, hateful comment, and tell the world, 'Hey! I'm right here. I'm not going to be called weak and un-useful any more.'"

The DOS robots looked up at him. "Yes."

"Exactly. It's all my fault this happened. You are- err, were- one of our most important assests to our force. I just never realized it at the time. And I hope you accept my belated, yet sincere, apology."

The robots all looked at each other. After a while, they nodded in unison. Oil Man then spoke up. "You shouldn't have corrected yourself. If possible, we'd like to rejoin."

Dive Man smirked. "That's the spirit. Thank you, guys. Now, in order to repay your debt..."

The others sighed. What was it this time- base repairs? A suicide mission? Decoys?

"...You're going on a mission. Stop that second truck from reaching Wily's base. Intercept it any way possible. Understood?"

The others nodded.

Dive Man unlocked the prison cells. "Get moving! Go! Go! Go!"

The six robots hurried to the garage, finally able to respect their position, and ready to correct their mistake.

"Really? One shot is all it took? Jeez, that guy was easy...I never even had to draw my sword. And in case you haven't noticed, I'm ahead of you."
Shorde, relieved to be able to slow his pace, started walking towards the city. He didn't know which building was the Dr. Light base, but he could guess...after all, few buildings were large enough to house as many Robots as he knew were on the good guy team.

As he approached the base, he noticed a large shadow looming over it. Confused, he looked up into the sky, wondering just what could be casting it...

What was over the base was an air ship. A rather large, but old, worn down air ship. A carrier, to be exact. A somewhat familiar logo was on the side...

Shorde looked up at the airship, and suddenly, he was acutely aware of the Moon behind it. Halfway still made of moon rock, the other half of metal, the Moon had broken a long time ago on Mobius. Oddly enough, it was repaired by the same person.
And that person had used this airship a long time ago.

After a quick frantic look around for some way to the roof without entering the building, Shorde saw that there was none. He entered the building and bolted up the stairs--oddly enough, not running into anyone on the way--quickly making his way up to the roof.
With a better look at the aircraft, Shorde stared at it for the longest time. "That hideous bright orange-red color...that faded logo...yes. I would know that mustache anywhere." All in all, Shorde couldn't decide if he was happy or not--for one, The Blue One was not present to help him this time. No one was. On the other hand, it would be great to fight an old foe and slay robots without caring...
"Well, then, it would seem my suspicion was incorrect!" Shorde shouted up at the ship, trying to be sure its obvious pilot could hear him. "You are not the same mad scientist as the other now inhabiting this land. If you seek The Blue One, he is no longer here! ...Nor are any of his old friends. I remain, you crackpot, so if you want to take over this world, you'll have to get through me first! Come on, Fat Man! Show me your evil plan! Show me your machines of war! Show me the glorious challenges that I have waited twenty years to see!!!"

There wasn't much reaction. The ship continued hovering there. Nothing came out of it. Then, the comms system got to work, and the pilot, who was indeed Eggman, spoke to him.

Eggman: This is not the time for such disputes, hedgehog. I dispise that "Wily" person as much as you do. You will need my help in removing him from this world.

"As if I'm supposed to believe that." Shorde unsheathed his sword, and rested it on his shoulder. No matter what game The Fat Man was playing, he would be dropping some Egg Pawns or something on him shortly. "Fat Man--er, Eggman, I know your tricks! How many times have you pretended to be a good guy? Five plus? Ten plus? Too many to recall? The Blue One may have fallen for it every time, but not me!"
