"3..." "2..." "1..." "NOW!" In a flash, the doors swung open to Malware's truck. The robots inside Dyna Man's jumped on. Volt Man knocked out the other three, while Shark and Bit Man both took out Malware's weapons. "By the order of Light's consolidated forces, you are placed under arrest," Dyna Man said. "Stand down and come quietly, and we will not experience trouble." "So, you betray them just to betray me... Make up your mind, pea-brains! Which side are you on?" "Hmph. I think you know very well which side we are affiliated. Shoot her." Blade Man nailed her in the back, and she fizzed down and out. "Take the others back." They rounded up the others, and were about to load them back on, when they noticed the truck was gone. "Agh, we didn't stop! Go take out the driver." Sonic Man complied by cutting through the trailer and shooting the driver in the head. Torch Man pulled up with the truck soon after, and off they went. --- Neptune and Venus were still spelunking in the cave. The further they went, the more conspicuos a power reading came onto their sensors. "We must be gettin' close! Come on, Venus, let's keep goin'." The two continued downward. |

Dr. Coda frowned at a simple monitoring device as it turned itself off--Malware had gone inactive. And that wasn't the first time, either--she had already deactivated more than once that evening. I know she's got a full charge, he thought to himself, so the only reason she would go offline would be to feign defeat. Coda could understand feigning defeat once, but twice? He was beginning to worry... but not like most others worried. "Malware had better not fail her primary mission...or I'll make her wish she could die." --- Dawn. The night had flown, and it was morning again. As the Sun crept up onto the city, it struck a solar panel Delete-Man had set up before going to sleep mode--he had briefly considered turning it into a Rube Goldberg machine, but he eventually decided that would just be silly. The device had a small electrical wire connected to each of the Coda Robots, and as the electrical current passed into them, the small jolt woke them all up simultaneously. Poison-Man lazily stretched his arms, struggling to wake. As soon as he could, he spoke: "Ah...it looks like a fine day to kill some traitors!" "Oh, please, Poison, don't get ahead of yourself. First, we must keep our promise to Rock." Despite the groans this got, Heart-Man persisted. After all, it was either teach her or potentially get killed by her. When Roll was first powered on, her thoughts were not well. She had had terrible nightmares all night about a young woman resembling her killing her friends, and all the while she was helpless to stop her. ...That is, unless the girl was her. Roll shuddered at the thought. Heart-Man could see the worried expression on her face, and he thought he'd lighten it with something positive. "Good news, Roll. You weren't around to see it, but your brother's systems have been fully repaired by a special Robot that came by. He'll be able to fight on the battlefield just fine, and you'll be able to stand beside him." That seemed to cheer her up a little, but the sad look on her face did not vanish. Heart-Man understood--she was still worried about her. And I'd be, too, if I were wielding Virus and clueless about what it did. Luckily, Blackout-Man jumped in to finish the statement. "And that's not the end of it--come with us, we have something for you, too!" Happy they cared, but uneasy about accepting their help again, Roll silently got to her feet and followed the Coda Robots out of the room. |

The truck rumbled into the garage just a few minutes later. Torch Man and Volt Man carried the deactivated body out of the back, and presented it to Dive Man. "Good work, fellas. If you don't mind, we'll need some help repairing the damages done to the base... get to work fixing the floors. We'll each assign you a special team in order to get it done. Understood?" "Got it, sir." Soon the other robots fanned out. Dive Man then remembered Heart Man and his siblings. "Agh, they're likely to spring on them as soon as they see them!" He summoned Volt Man over, and told him to explain the situation to them. "They'll never believe we caught Malware again, though. They think we're weak and hopeles..." Dive Man nodded. "Then I'll come with you." --- Quint was leaning against a wall, eyes closed, listening to the hustle around him. Apparrently, he slept through an uprising organized by a group of their soldiers. "Nice job, Quint, being of no use to anyone yet again," he muttered vindictively. "Everyone thinks you're a know-it-all, slow to action, and a miserable robot... Boy. How does Rock do it? Why can't I be gung-ho and happy-go-lucky like him? He's smiling even when he's cut down by hi- err, our- sister." Quint then told himself to stop correcting himself there. It was frivolous to think she would ever regard him as a cousin, let alone a brother. Too stoical. Too lazy. Too obnoxious. Too weird. Quint sighed. He tried desperately to remember any family he had when he was taken away. They liked him. Why, then, was he so unliked now? Why couldn't anyone like him at all? Thinking these things only made him restless and somewhat irritated at the fact that no one seemed to at least be somewhat friendly to him. He walked down the corner, and back to his regeneration capsule. |

It took a while to find an empty room large enough for their purposes, but eventually, the Coda Robots found one. On the door to this room now hung a sign reading "Coda Robots at Work: Disturb At Your Own Risk." Roll walked in slowly, still feeling uneasy. She was walking into an empty room--where was the thing they'd promised her? She was even more confused when the door quietly shut and she found herself encircled by the nine Coda Robots. They spoke cryptically, as if they were one person speaking in nine different voices. "You have slipped out of control, Roll." "You have had rage descend upon you and steer your blade for you." "You have hurt those you did not mean to." "We must ask, Roll--why do you think this is?" Roll stuttered in her response, but she eventually formed one. "...Is it...is it because of the stress from war...?" A voice from behind her continued speaking. "Well, you could say that, but it's not the answer we were looking for." "That's part of it, but there's something else that goes with it." "And that something...is Virus." Finally, Heart-Man stepped forward from the circle to face Roll. "When I unlocked Virus' true potential, two...I think you might call them demons. Two demons were released into you, and they are what is seizing control of you." In a flash, Roll's hand went to her sword. Heart-Man took note of the anger in her eyes, and suddenly started talking a lot faster. "You have every right to be angry with us, but the anger and the lack of control will die with time. Trust me; you'll be thanking me for this once it's all over. Please, Roll, just don't get angry--" At this point, a knock on the door interrupted their talk. All eyes turned towards the door, and the closest Robot--Pyro-Man--marched over and opened it... |

The door swung open to reveal Volt Man. "Morning, comrades." He put up his Force Field immediately. "I would like to apologize for my kin's rash behavior a few hours ago. We were infuriated by our treatment we recieved from this side, and in a moment of blind rage, we went hellbent purely from insatiable revenge. Dive Man intervened, however, and swayed us over to the right army. We've recaptured the prisoners we released." He then paused. "Including Malware." Dive Man stepped in. "This is true. He hauled all four of them back, and they're sitting in the cells now." "We are even more sorry for the harm we caused to you- especially Blackout and Heart Man. We might never be forgiven, true... but we at least wanted to try... Can I trust you not to attack me?" |

The Coda Robots just stood for a while, contemplating what they had been told. Eventually, Heart-Man made the risky move of looking away from Roll towards the door. "We would be foolish hypocrites if we did not tolerate your outbursts, and yet expected you to tolerate our own..." and hers. "We must be brief now, as we are trying to create a training environment in here. But rest with this off of your chassis--you have received our forgiveness. Just be careful not to let Malware get out of jail free a second time," he added with a light chuckle. Heart-Man nodded to Pyro-Man, and he quietly shut the door. With the people outside no longer an issue, everyone turned back to Roll. "Where were we?" "Oh, yes." "Now, the first demon, the better of the two, is named The Protectant..." |

Volt Man breathed a sigh of relief. The others were already forgiving the other rebellions, and he definetely tackled the hardest one. "Thanks for the endorsment, Dive Man," he said, and off he went. Dive Man smiled as he turned the corner, then changed back to a concerned look. "A training enviroment for the girl... Hmm. Interesting." He took a nearby flight of stairs to the next floor, and nearly ran right into Quint. "Oh, sorry about that." "Hey, what's going on in that room? I heard a bunch of voices from here, and I saw you come in with someone else from the window on the other side..." "I think they're conducting training. There is a window on the other side, then?" "Yeah." "Hm. Good. Go ahead, I have to check this out." Quint walked off, and Dive Man headed for the window. |

Through the window, Dive-Man could see the nine Coda Robots all sitting around Roll in a circle. Most of them carried a grim, expressionless face. While Roll herself shared their sheer lack of emotion, she seemed much more attentive than the others--her eyes more opened, more life within them. She was busy absorbing the information she was being told by the Coda Robots--and although she was horrified by what she heard, it was good to finally have a name for the evil she was forced to deal with. "...To finish, we feel we should remind you that your anger will recede with time." "Once you've slipped into these states enough times, you will slowly receive complete control of them, and you will no doubt be one of the strongest fighters on this side of the battlefield." "Lastly, we would understand if you wanted this to be taken off of you...but we're afraid that the only person who would even be capable of that is Dr. Coda himself. I'm sorry--we're all very sorry--but I'm afraid you're stuck with this." Roll, of course, did not immediately respond. For a brief moment, she lifted one foot to start a pace, but then quietly set it back down. Finally, after much thought, she threw her arms out to her sides and looked back at the Coda Robots. "Then make me angry," she demanded simply. "Go on, tell me everything I don't want to hear you tell me. Turn me into one of those nightmares...The sooner I can control these 'demons,' the better for all of us." Much to her confusion, the Coda Robots suddenly looked sad. Heart-Man lifted his head to look her in the eyes, and responded: "I'm afraid we can't risk that. We don't know what else Coda is capable of, and manual training wouldn't be the same--not to mention the chances of you killing us are very real." "However," Blackout-Man picked up, "we know there will be no keeping you off of the battlefield. The entire purpose of Virus' true potential was to make you stronger...so while we wait for that gate to be fully unlocked, we can train you in your default form." Suddenly, the circle of Coda Robots stood and dispersed--save for Pyro-Man, who spun Roll around to face him. "Shall we start with a little one-on-one?" --- As Roll drew her sword to begin her combat practice, another sword-wielder in the building came back to life. Shorde slowly drifted back into consciousness, feeling surprisingly well-rested given his sleeping conditions. After his ritualistic stretching routine he brought with him all the way from Camelot, he left the infirmary and started walking the building. In order for him to be useful to the army, he knew that he would have to be updated and aware of everything that was going on. Wondering if Eggman had ever gone and found such a person, Shorde combed the building, looking for anyone--anyone at all--who might be able to tell him just that. Eventually, he stumbled across a Robot slightly resembling a submarine, whom his database revealed to be Dive-Man. Shorde didn't know how much he knew, but between the fact that he was tending to his task of staring through a window very dutifully and the generic air of importance around him, he made an educated guess. After a brief moment of hesitation, Shorde calmly walked up to the Robot. "Excuse me, sir, but I'm behind on war times, and I need to know what I can do to be helpful." |

Dive Man spun on his heel to meet Shorde. He at first thought he was a child given his height. Dive Man was taller than most Robot Masters- he nearly had two inches on Tide Man- so he could assume the person in front of him was about Mega Man's height. "Hmm... You want to be part of our army? I'll have to see your combat abilities first. Show me them as soon as I have a window of opportunity. Right now, I'm a little busy." He then walked off, headed to his office. --- Crash Man dashed up the stairs, and watched from the window. Mega Man trusted him to watch over Roll. He couldn't break that promise. As he watched the fight ensue, he couldn't decide whether or not to be happy. He felt like being happy for her, because, unlike most, he was a silent supporter of her sword fighting. He feared, however- not only for himself, but for her as well. It seemed inevitable that she might grow incredibly powerful from whatever she learns, which could bring her down dark, depressing, and terrible paths... (Did I mention today's my birthday?) |

"Can't you just wipe it's memory, so it WON'T disobey you?" ProtoMan asked. "That wouldn't be a good idea, history would just repeat itself and Metal Sonic would go rouge again." A voice said. "Whos there!?" ProtoMan said. An animal similair to Shorde walked out of the shadows, but this animal was black and had red striped on his quills. "I am the Ultimate Life Form...Shadow the Hedgehog." Shadow said. |

(No, no you didn't. Well, happy belated birthday, Magnet.) As Dive-Man walked away, Shorde sighed quietly. He didn't like it, but he suspected that he wasn't being employed because he was a bio-form. I know, I'm outclassed in natural defenses, but I want to help! The empty-headed, berserking Ballade was barely a challenge, and he wanted to protect his land and uphold The Blue One's name more than anything! So why couldn't he just have a chance? Shorde was so caught up in his thoughts, he didn't notice Crash-Man walking up to the window at all. He only snapped out of it when he felt a cold shiver run down his spine--he was never as good as The Blue One or The Dark One at the whole "sensing" deal, but he knew another Hedgehog in the area when he sensed one. And this one, he could tell, had come in contact with the Chaos Emeralds. It was then that he looked up and noticed Crash-Man, staring into the window intently quite like Dive-Man had. Wondering just what could be so fascinating, Shorde cast a glance in--and there, in a large, open room, was Roll, training with some nine other Robots. He thought he recognized one or two of them, but it didn't matter--if they were helping Roll, they had to be good people. "Ah, it warms my heart to see someone other than me training with a sword. I mean, sure, it's not nearly the same way I trained, but it makes me happy that it's not a dying art." Suddenly aware of the person standing next to him, Shorde turned his attention to them. "I don't suppose you could catch me up on modern events, huh?" |

Crash Man was so busy watching the fight that he barely heard Shorde. "Oh, uh, yeah, sure. Let's see... Some of the robots here rebelled and almost escaped to Wily, but they turned back to here... Uh, my brothers and I were killed by some new robots and she apparently went crazy." Maybe it was about Heat Man, he thought to himself with a chuckle. "And, um, that's about it." He then turned back to watch the fight. "Oh, by the way, Dive never really needs to see your fighting prowess- just go fill out a registration form. He'll accept it- he needs all the help he can get." He then forgot about the bioform, and continued watching Roll. His thoughts drifted unconsciously to different topics. Man. She looks hot when she fights. And she looks strong, too. She'll be tough to beat, but she's only a girl... Can't be too hard beating her. Right? I hope so. --- Snake Man had just gotten out of the infirmary after taking a shoulder wound from a stray Blade Launcher, and was walking aimlessly around the base when he heard sounds of a fight. He quickly dashed up to the source, and was about to break through the glass of the window, when he noticed two of his allies were fighting. "Oh. Training." He was surprised to see Roll was one of the combatants. "Speak of the Devil herself..." he said musingly. He then remembered his words said when Roll was just starting out. Showing compassion, comfort, and kindness for her in her time of need... This wasn't Snake Man's forte, but he could at least offer support. When she took a glance at the window after pausing a bit, Snake Man flashed a smile, and shouted, "Go get him, Roll!" Thus was the start of the Robot Masters finally forgetting the old Roll, and embracing the new. |

Ballade walked out of the base, he was going to plan something BIG, something so big that Dr.Wily would praise him to the heavens and beyond. "Perfect...." Ballade said to himself. "You Joes, come here! And bring your grenades....." Ballade said as he but a big, crazy smile on his face. "Yessir!, lets go men!" A SniperJoe said as he and his battalion walked behind Ballade. "Where to, sir?" "The Light Base...full speed ahead." Ballade said. "Yessir! Do you want the ApacheCopters for better mobility?" "Sure." Ballade said. "But keep at least a squad on the ground." "Yessir." Ballade hopped in an ApacheCopter with and halfk the battalion got in their own copters, while the remainder stayed on the ground. "Lets go." Ballade said as him and his ApacheJoes sped off in their copters. "We'll attack first, then the ground unit will attack, and free any Wily bot prisoners." "Yessir." |

"Crazy, you say...?" Unlike Crash-Man, Shorde had been conscious to hear Heart-Man's little tale at the train wreck, and knew exactly what this "crazy" could refer to. Unsure if the explosive Robot should know, he told a white lie. "Well, an undisciplined knight won't do us any good. I hope those trainers she's got can get her under control." Another Robot, this one resembling a serpent, gathered around the window. "I was unaware this window was such a huge hangout," Shorde said jokingly. "I think I'll be off soon, but I need to know where to get the registration before I go get it..." --- Pyro-Man fought in a simple set of attack patterns--he claimed they were his favorites, but they were really all he knew how to do back from his Fire Wall days. Roll was singed more than once, but she quickly learned how to counter his patterns with her own. Sidestep here, jump there, charge for an attack then. Soon, Pyro-Man had five slash marks on him, and he put his hands up in surrender. "You're a quick learner," two voices said, "but are you still not tired?" Confused by the additional voice, Roll spun around to find that Delete-Man was rushing her from behind. |
