ProtoMan woke up. "Uuuuhhhhnn." ProtoMan moaned. "Well Shorde, we can now catch up to Shadow." ----------------------------- Shadow was at the outskirts of Green Hill. He looked at the lush, green landscape. "Hmmph, getting through here with 50 rings, shouldn't be a problem." Shadow thought as he rushed into Green Hill. |

A small robot walked up to the two humans standing at Dive Man's office. "Uh, excuse me, sir and miss? General Dive Man is never in his office... you should probably walk around and see if you can find him. He's blue and looks like submarine- hard to miss him." --- "Hyah! Hahaha, third block, tiny! You can't get past this monster defense!" Guts Man was speaking to Cut Man, swatting the ball away from another shot attempt. Cut Man grabbed the ball. "Oh, yeah? I'll show you some monster defense... Fire, pass it back to me." Fire Man got the ball, and tossed it back to Cut Man, who jumped clean over his construction-based defender and slammed it to the bottom of the hoop. "All right! Score is tied back at 24!" His team jogged back to the end of the court- except for Elec Man, who slowly shuffled his feet back. Cut Man looked concerned. "Yo, Elec, something wrong? You're not on top of your game." He waved his hands in front of himself and smiled widely, trying to dismiss anything was wrong. "No, no! Everything's just fine! Just a bit bushed, is all." His expression, however, dropped quickly. Cut Man frowned. "I don't think so, mister. You're clearly upset about something." Elec Man sighed. "... Roll has returned," he muttered, "and she is very, very demoralized. My rather blunt attempt to console her failed, and only put her in a worse-off mood. I don't know what happened." All of the First Rebellion Bots looked considerably nervous. "Well, what are we supposed to do?" Bomb Man said. "Something bad obviously happened." "Pssh, it's not that," Time Man cut in curtly. "She's an impaitent young girl who got shoved into this too soon. She obviously didn't know how to handle her power and now she's stuck in a depressed mood." "Oh, lay off it, Time Man," Ice Man said stingingly. "And why should I? I'm the one who's right, anyway," he shot back. "How do you know you're right so fast?" Guts Man cut in. "No one else voiced their opinions, you stuck-up, time obsessed, unefficient slob!" "What did you just call me? I DO hope that you will take that back for your own sake, brawn for brains." Soon enough, the entire group was caught up in shouting and arguing. --- Aqua Man ducked back into the doorway, blocking the attack. "Of course I know where Magic Man is! Why do you want to know, anyway?!" He fired off a high-pressure stream of water at him. |

"Um...ok then..Thanks," Aaron replied to the small robot. He looked at Christine. "Well..shall we go?" he asked. She giggled. "Yes, let us go!" Meanwhile....... Two other boys were wandering the city, looking for their two friends, Aaron and Christine. One looked exactly like Aaron, save for the fact that his hair was slightly neater than his, and the other boy had a pair of headphones on, along with a gray performance tee, with a skull on it. His headphones also had skulls on them. The Aaron lookalike was named Michael Kane, and the tough-looking boy was Rocko Tengu. Mike and Rocko were just roaming. Both were not interested in talking to one another, as they clearly didn't like each other. Rocko didn't like Mike, because he was weak, and occasionally bullied him, and Mike didn't Like Rocko because he scared him to no end. The only time when he was comfortable with Rocko was when Aaron was around. He idolized Aaron. A little TOO much, might I add. (ok, now all four characters are in play here.) |

"Hey, Proto Man! You feel alright...right?" Shorde looked over his companion, not that he expected a visual difference. When he found none, he nodded, guessing that he hadn't been hacked. "Alright, then, we need to catch up with Shadow before he starts the Act." Shutting his eyes to avoid eye contact with the Blacksmith Plush, he quietly exited the Carrier. Hm...Eggman could've done something bad, and he didn't...most peculiar for a bad guy. When they were outside and he was sure the Blacksmith Plush was behind him, he opened his eyes again and looked over into Proto Man's visor. "Um...so, did you give The Dark One one of the wristwatches you gave me? I've got some info I need to pass along." --- Roll had somehow moved to her bed, which she hadn't slept consistently in ever since the Seventh Rebellion. She watched from her window--she had specifically requested it herself--which looked out upon the Light Lab's backyard, followed by a decent view of the city. She spied the eight First Rebellion Robots playing a game of basketball, but through the glass, she couldn't hear what they were saying. As she watched, she saw the game slowly escalate into an all-out verbal battle. Again, she couldn't tell why, but in her current state of mind, Roll assumed the worst. As she watched the fight continue, the idea of trying to break them up crossed her mind. After all, she didn't deserve to be fought over. Eventually, she decided against it, because chances were if she raised her voice, no one would listen to her... |

"Why do you always have to be so down on her, you little twerp?" Guts Man rumbled at Time Man. He grew indignant. "I've had it with you, you bloated meatbag! You always boss others around. Why can't you ever just shut up?!" "Errrrargh! That's it, Mr. Perfect! I'm gonna see what makes you tick!" He reared his arm back and slugged Time Man right in the face, sending him straight into a tree. His nose was bleeding oil. Three other bots quickly restrained Guts Man while the others tried to help Time Man, but he shook them off. "That all you got, airhead?" That set Guts Man off. He shook the three robots off of him, and checked Time Man down the hill, dropping at least twenty feet. "Come up here and say that again!" he shouted down at the purple robot. Time Man stood up almost immediately, and attempted to climb the hill, but he was no more than five feet up that oil poured out of his mouth and he fell down again, spitting the black stuff all over. Elec Man went down with Oil Man to help, while the others ridiculed Guts Man, only making him angrier. They were interrupted by a giant lightning bolt striking the ground. It was Dynamo Man, with Ground Man next to him. "WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?" he asked malignantly. He eyed the robots around him, looking at Time Man at the bottom of the hill. "Guts Man, for the love of Light, what did you do? Are you trying to make things worse? Roll came back for a break in the action, and she'll find turmoil and distrust on the home front too." He looked at the lab, and noticed he golden hair against the window in her room. "... In fact, it seems like she already found out," he stated, looking back at the robots. "How do you think this will make it any better? And I thought your AI was recently updated..." Guts Man clenched his fists, but Dynamo Man shot a glance over them again. "Let me bring Time Man in. You all need to think about this entire thing for a while." Elec Man shut Time Man off, and carefully placed him in his hands, while Oil Man busily sucked up all the oil that his brother coughed up. Ground Man was soon at his side. "Roll is going to be upset." "I know. But she'll have to learn that the road to recovery isn't all peaches and cream..." Dynamo Man suddenly had a spark of inspiration. "...Hmmm. That could work... Maybe I would be able to factor that into a kind of... speech, of sorts. It might work. But onto important matters." He lifted Time Man up, and headed into the lab. |

Shorde quickly responded with an "oh, it's nothing," but he quickly performed a double-take. Did the Blacksmith Plush just talk like Vestra?! However, he eventually deciding to ignore it again, not wanting anything to do with the doll or its creepy eyes. Instead, he sped onward towards the area he was so familiar with. It took only a few minutes for him to reach Shadow, who was luckily still at the entrance. Holding up one finger as he caught his breath, he eventually straightened up and looked at Shadow. "Hey, Dark One," was the first thing he got out, then he turned to look at the area they were about to go through. "Well, I'll be damned...I owe Vestra an apology. This place is as green and hilly as ever. We should wait up for Proto Man before we start." --- Roll only sadly watched as she watched the debate evolve into an all-out brawl. They're fighting over me, she thought to herself, why are they fighting over me? I don't deserve any special treatment, especially now that the "wonderful thing" that they were terrified of is gone... Eventually, she couldn't take it anymore. She considered punching the window open to get their attention, but she didn't want to break anything else...besides, with her luck today, it would be too strong for her to break. Regardless, she stood up and threw open the window, and shouted down to the now-ten Robots gathered there. "Hey, you idiots! Can't you take no for an answer?! I told you, everything is as it once was, and you should be happy! Now, leave me alone!" Heavily slamming her window shut, Roll exhaled deeply. She knew this would only provoke further attempts to...at this point, she didn't even know what the group wanted to accomplish. --- "Such mindlessness...because he was my original target, you idiot!" Wire-Man, unable to react swiftly enough, was blasted by water and got knocked back quite a bit. However, before the attack was finished, he had an idea. "Quit being so cowardly!" he shouted, as he held up the frayed edge of a Cable Whip into the path of the water blast, sending electric currents back through the water. |

Dynamo Man only groaned. "What a child. Why is she so withdrawn?" Ground Man shook his head. "She doesn't believe anyone will accept her in her current state. Childish, yes. Justified? Absolutely." Dynamo Man thought about it. "Hrm... I can somewhat see where your train of thought is, brother. But how are we supposed to treat it?" "By listening. Maybe she needs to vent. Putting herself in such a bad mood will not help." Dynamo Man only looked up at him. "... Are you sure? Ground Man, that might not be the best idea, in her current state..." He remained silent. "Don't think about that, brother. Don't think about that! She'll be very angry at you!" He did not respond. "Don't do it now, it won't help. Just wait a few days... Just wait." He glanced at Dynamo Man, and nodded shortly. "All right." Dynamo Man breathed a sigh of relief. "Good. Let's bring Time Man to Dr. Light." --- Aqua Man rolled away from the electric-infused water. "Well, sorr-ry for not being able to read minds, you jerk! Get lost, or I'll be calling in my ally- he stomped your brother into submission!" He fired off a flurry of Water Balloons at Wire Man. --- Dive Man was busy overlooking data on a computer with Volt Man that he originally didn't pay much attention to the small robot trying to get his attention. "Hrm, what? Humans? Dear Cossack... where are they, son?" He followed the robot to their last known location. |

Roll shifted her way over to the corner of her room, facing the door and waiting for her brothers to come. When they didn't after a couple minutes, she found herself holding her helmet again. Sadly regarding the heart on top of it, she flashed back to the very first moment, when she had just set out with Virus, the armor, and a head full of dreams. It had only gone downhill from there. As Roll looked back on her battle history, it occurred to her that she'd never even been in a real fight--let alone, hit an actual enemy or win a real fight. The armor hadn't helped; even with it around her, she still couldn't take a hit. The entire contemplation only worsened Roll's mood, whispering "orange isn't a good color for me" before throwing her helmet against the wall and curling herself up. --- Shorde desperately avoided eye contact with the Blacksmith Plush. He didn't care if Vestra had made it or the real Blacksmith had; the thing freaked him out and he'd have nothing to do with looking at it. When Proto Man didn't catch up in a couple minutes, he decided to explain without him. "Okay, here's the deal. Both you and I have been in this business for a long time, and we both know that there are a lot of ways to open the gate to an Emerald Trial. That's why I want us to do a sort of multitasking thing here--you run through the level as quick as you can, Proto will run through destroying all evil here, and I'll search around for hidden entrances, grab secrets and rings, ee tee cee. Got all that?" --- "If my brother got beaten so badly, then why did you fail to capture him?" Wire-Man was unaware about the skirmish that Tide-Man had had with Stone-Man, but either way, he wasn't scared of whoever Aqua-Man could call in...mostly because he couldn't feel fear. Then he was reminded that he was in a fight. Seeing not much option, he charged headlong into the path of the Balloons--if he didn't gain ground, he'd be knocked off the rooftop and that would be that. As he ran through the volley, he felt the water seep into his circuits, shorting them out, and at once Wire-Man lost the ability to move his Cable Whips. Not one to be discouraged, he continued charging at Aqua-Man, jumping up for what he hoped would be a kick in the face. "Come on, you pansy!" |

Aqua Man took the blow, but shook it off pretty fast. "Pansy? Doesn't seem like that to me if you're unable to use those whips of yours!" Due to Wire Man being fairly close to him, he fired a high-powered jet of water at his torso. --- Dr. Light was not very suprised to see Time Man injured. "Oh, dear. Guts Man?" The two robots nodded. "Hmph. They haven't gotten along in such a long time. I don't know how or why- no, never mind, I do know how and why..." He was suddenly reminded of his small talk with Charge Man. "And I assume she's still locked in her room?" "Yes, Doctor," Dynamo Man said. "Very well. I want you to wait a day for whatever plans you have in store- the consoltation thing didn't work today... Thank you, you two. You should get some rest." "Actually, sir, we must find the 10th Rebellion robots. They kind of need them down there." "Oh? Well, then, go on and find them. I'm not stopping you." The two robots left, leaving Dr. Light to fix Time Man. |

(In case this isn't abundantly clear, I'm leaving Aaron's second group of characters alone so that they have a chance to be recruited by someone who may not necessarily be a good guy. I don't know how this'll turn out, but I don't want to find both groups.) Wire-Man was somewhat worried that his one method of attack was taken for a while, but that wasn't going to keep him from fighting back. Knowing that he probably couldn't take another serious water hit, he ducked as soon as Aqua-Man lowered his buster for another shot. He continued with a quick leg-sweep, realizing his opponent would probably have about as much trouble standing as he did. "I'm not going to lose this fight..." --- Shorde nodded, suddenly remembering that he rarely turned off communications with Proto Man. "Okay, so we're all on the same page? Let's go, then..." Stretching briefly after such a long wait, he rolled down the hill beside Proto Man. "Three, two, one...go!" He smiled as he watched Shadow rocket forward at his usual alarming rate, unable to distinguish if it was his running ability or his basic power of Chaos Control. Shorde advanced slowly through the level, jumping up and grabbing any of the rings he saw. The mystical Rings could be used for many purposes, including as a damage sponge, as currency...and sometimes, as a way to open the path to a special stage. Shorde usually didn't carry Rings with him, because he could take a hit on his own and he didn't want to become dependent on the things. As one hill became higher beside him, he lifted his arm and ran it across the checkerboarded surface, checking for walls that weren't really there. Special stages were sometimes hidden there as well. Shorde continued his leisurely pace, wondering if the party was having equal amounts of success...and if the Blacksmith Plush wasn't still following him. |

ProtoMan saw the other two blaze off, while ProtoMan took the strategic approach to enemies, equiping eight weapons: Thunder Beam, Metal Blade, Shadow Blade, Pharoah Shot, Water Wave, Silver Tomahawk, Slash Claw, and Jewel Sattelite. And two items: ProtoJet and ProtoCoil. Then he activated ProtoCoil and bounced on top of a hill re-equiped his buster and shot at a beetle-like robot on wheels, then hopped off that hil, equipped his ProtoJet and rode it up a loop-de-loop, then equipped Silver Tomahawk and threw it accuratley at a Chameleon like robot, then ran forward torwards a wall. "Well, this thing's going down." ProtoMan thought as he charged up and blew the wall to pieces. Then slid down an underground hole that appeared behind the wall using his slide ability. |

Shorde groaned to himself. Not only had the Blacksmith Plush followed them into Green Hill, but after the break, it had decided to follow him. He heard it mimic Vestra's voice, which wasn't a good thing to begin with, but even worse, it had yet to say anything important or helpful. For the time being, he paid it no heed. Suddenly, he felt the wall give way beside him. Shorde turned and ran straight through the wall, eventually being led to a small room with a lone item box. It was no path to the Emerald, but any item was a good item--stabbing the box to break it, he smiled with satisfaction as an energy shield enveloped him. Sonic used the strangest powers to get by, he idly thought to himself as he proceeded back through the entrance. --- Fog-Woman stood by herself, her brothers having all gone off on their own to continue their patrols. She had just received word about Roll's sudden departure, and she couldn't help but be upset that Dr. Coda's finest weapon wasn't being put to use. She flashed back through everything that had happened so far, wondering if it was somehow her fault, and if so, where she had messed up. Which was when she realized two things. One, that she hadn't seen Sleet-Man or any of his siblings since the Infectant's debut, and two, that she had had a craving to fight ever since she had watched Aaron defeat those two odd sword-wielding Robots. Dismissing the former thought for now, she quickly left the building, knowing it would be easier to satisfy the latter. Rushing blindly through the streets, she had soon entered Dr. Wily's territory. Not entirely comfortable with her belligerent feelings, Fog-Woman merely continued her dash, knowing she would soon be spotted and fought by someone... |
