"Ouch!" "Little pest..." the two heads grumbled after Roll retreated again. Search Man fired the Homing Snipers behind himself, knowing it would pick up Roll soon, then retreated into a nearby building.

He soon set up his sniper and placed mines inside the floor, ready to go off if he was approached from the back.

"You must hand it to her..." "Roll's become an exceptional fighter." "Boy, I wonder if it'll be hard," "to forgive us after this over!" the two heads conversed to each other while waiting for her to come back into view.
---
The dinosaur roared as it felt Heart Man clamber onto its back. It attempted to blast him with fire (it has a long neck, remember) but was repressed by an attack from the VAN Pookins flying nearby. The dinosaur reared back and began to attack the massive pumpkins, while the ground troops were still struggling with the Joes.

ProtoMan jumped off of his ProtoJet next to the pole. Shadow was still skating until then he saw an area that was flooded and ran around it. "Shorde, where are you?" ProtoMan asked.

"Hah! Now I've got you..." Heart-Man said to himself, carefully getting his footing on the dinosaur's back. He braced himself for the incoming flames, but he was pleasantly surprised to find that they weren't coming. "Man, those overgrown pumpkins are really good for...whatever it is they're good for." He dashed over to the dinosaur's neck, wrapping his buster arm around it to try and keep steady. After revving his Circle Saw, Heart-Man started sawing through the dinosaur's neck, definitely the quickest way to kill it. Its armored plating would protect it for a while, but hopefully, the creature wouldn't be able to stop him. While his saw chipped away, Heart-Man looked out on the battlefield, for anyone who could be in need of his healing services once he removed the giant's head.
---
Roll stood for a moment, letting the Homing Snipers come to her in waves. It was easier to rid herself of them that way, anyway, but mostly, she was thinking to herself--"I actually scared him off," she thought idly while holding her sword out to block the missiles. She considered calling it a day, but she glanced down at Virus. The tiny amount of oil on the blade's edges looked promising, and it reminded Roll of exactly what she was doing. "I'll go finish him off," she said decidedly as she sliced the last Homing Sniper in half.
She followed Search-Man inside...inside, where the hallways were narrow, the ceilings were low, and she wouldn't have a lot of room to maneuver around. If she wanted to finish Search-Man, she'd have to be sneaky about it. Roll briefly listened for his footsteps or his weaponry...or any sound that might give his location away. After no such luck, Roll shrugged and set off in one direction. Surely, one of us will find the other soon...I can only hope it's me finding him.
---
Shorde only continued running forward--once his Spin-Dash gave, he jumped out and started running. He had to keep moving, or else he would surely drown. Dashing as quickly as he could, he didn't even notice his communicator blinking, with Proto Man trying to call him...

Time's up.

Other Vestra adjusted her cloak a bit before going back into her secret room to Check up on Vestra, only to see that she had gotten past the bars, though not yet found a way out. "You're more cunning than I th-" Other Vestra began, but was interupted by Vestra rushing forward with a punch. Other Vestra sidestepped and grabbed Vestra's arm, and twisted. Vestra cried out in pain, and Other Vestra forced Vestra face-first into the wall, grabbed her head, and began smashing her face into the concrete, hard enough to chip away at it. Vestra's nose was quickly broken, and her face got badly cut, but she didn't give up. She put her feet to the wall and pushed, forcing them away from it, where Vestra tripped up Other Vestra and began kicking her as she was down. However, Other Vestra quckly grabbed The lower part of Vestra's leg with both hands, and broke it like a twig. Vestra fell and writhed in agony as Other Vestra gave her a hard kick in the face before leaving the room and sealing it after her. She quickly contacted Shorde.

"Shorde, what is your progress on the second emerald?" She asked.

Damn it... Shorde's lungs were burning. A civilian like the ones he had been told about would have given up, but he was far from done. Ignoring the pain, he continued to dash, blissfully unaware of his communicator that now had two blinking contacts on it. He continued to charge on until--yes! He saw a bubble, drifting upward ahead. It was no land, but it would keep him alive a little longer.
He jumped up into the bubble, breathed, and landed again--a simple maneuver, one he was comfortable doing. Instinct combined with rusted skills almost made him try to catch his breath, but he was able to stop himself. It was only then that he noticed the flashing notifications on his screen. Accepting both of them, he continued to run again, figuring they would probably figure it out.

(I'm tempted to write another part, simply because it's been too long, but more time needs to pass elsewhere...oh well!)

Search Man kept an unfailing eye on the surrounding area, waiting for Roll to show. Soon enough, however, he began to grow drowsy, and began to doze into a light slumber.
---
The forces on the ground were experiencing more and more problems with the ferocious Joe assault. The VAN Pookins were especially suffering due to increased air attacks. One began to smoke and twitch as it started to fall through the sky torwards the dinosaur.

The dinosaur was busily trying to swat the Robot Master on its neck off using its huge tail and fire. The more Heart Man cut, the angrier it got.

Eventually, the brute let out a large roar as it began to buck around and swing its neck rapidly.

Roll walked around the first floor, looking for any signs of anyone passing through. Her untrained eyes couldn't pick up a trail very well (Though Search-Man, being a military Robot, probably knew how to leave no trace), however, much to her own chagrin. Eventually, though, she heard the sound of something mechanical, and quickly--while keeping her footsteps as light as she could--walked towards the sound.
She stopped promptly, for the room's floor was covered in Homing Mines. Unsure what they would do if she came any closer, Roll quickly took a few steps back. Carefully looking out into the room, she noted Search-Man in the other corner of the room...asleep. She didn't want to walk any closer to him, but she knew that throwing her sword would end badly. She stopped and thought for a moment, and eventually, she got an idea. Inhaling deeply, she screamed as loud as she could: "Hey, Search! Over here!" Her hope was that she would shock her opponent awake, and either through shock or desire to catch her, they would step onto one of their own mines...
---
Heart-Man was shaken about by the dinosaur's attacks, but he held on as well as he could to the dinosaur's neck. A jet of flame shot past him, searing the edge of his body, but he still stayed focused on the task at hand.
When he saw a shadow, he was somewhat confused as he looked up--and then he became very afraid as he saw the VAN Pookin slowly descending on top of him. Almost instantly, he bailed, though he ran a bit slower after being burned. After dashing off the dinosaur's back, he silently hoped it would be crushed, and switched to his Regen Cannon, firing shots up at the Apache Joes and let them ricochet where they may. Hopefully, his allies would spot the cross-shaped energy shots and jump into the rebound for some free repairs.

Search Man jolted awake, and the two heads simultaneously turned around, their red eyes piercing through the shadows of the building. He quickly took aim with the Homing Sniper, and fired two missiles at the target.
---
The VAN Pookin slowly made its descent torward the ancient android until it finally spotted the orange meteor headed for it. It instictively ducked under it, and it was sent barreling down into a nearby platoon of Joes. Luckily enough, some of the Regen Cannon shots were pulled in by its massive girth, so it was at least able to shoot again.

Skull Man was busy mashing Joes with his fists and buster until he spotted the downed Pookin. He started to run torwards the massive dinosaur, and hopped on its back, opening a large hatch inside. "Looks like the internal coding," he muttered as he tried to get Heart Man's attention.

(...
SON OF A BITCH. I knew you wouldn't let that slide, Magnet; why did I try it?)

Roll took a nervous step back when Search-Man initially awoke, but she quickly readied herself for combat when she saw her plan had--of course--failed. Well, eventually one of us will lose patience, she thought to herself. Adjusting her blade quickly, she smacked the Homing Snipers away with the flat rather than cutting them.
---
Heart-Man was primarily focused on the air above him, where the fleets of Apache Joes flew, but he was able to spot Skull-Man out of the corner of his eye. He smiled up at his friend, clambering up onto the dinosaur. "You want me to take a crack at jacking this thing? Well, alright," he said, switching back to two hands and cracking his knuckles. "You guys keep fighting, and push back those Apache Joes," he added as he jumped down into the robot and got to work.
---
As Coda sawed metal apart to build missing parts of Wire-Man's chassis, he could feel his consciousness drifting. He closed his eyes for just a second, he intended it to be a blink, but he wound up falling asleep for about ten minutes. When he woke again, he cursed under his breath, withdrew a bottle of what appeared to be medication from his pocket, and took one of the pills from it.
The caffeine pill did its work--in seconds, Coda was alive with energy again--and it also neutralized the buildup of toxins in the brain, but it was still no replacement for sleep. The longer he went without an actual sleep, the less coherent his thoughts became. And Coda hadn't slept since the war on Mobius began. Shaking his head to keep himself awake, he continued sawing the piece, muttering to himself, "I'm taking a nap after this is done, no matter what Wily says."

"Hey, you know what they say. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em," Skull Man said as he blasted at a few Joes, covering Heart Man as he worked.
---
Blade Man idly tapped his fingers. The pinkish- purple Robot Master was sitting in the base, bored. The patrols had already been sent out- he wasn't picked- and there weren't any jobs to do. Blade Man was mildly suprised that he craved work, since he longed to relax after his work in the dam years ago.

Not wishing to sit idle any more, he rose out of his seat and walked out the blast doors. He pulled a sword out of his buster, and moved torwards the eastern portion of the city.
---
Search Man was calmly in control of the fight, firing off waves of missiles at her opponent while spewing the occasional rolling mine (thrown above the traps).

Soon enough, he slowly began to move torward the window.

(Oh, it's ominous because we don't know if Blade-Man's on the good guys' or the bad guys' side...)

Shorde could hear sound coming from his watch, but he couldn't make out the words, nor could he respond. He simply powered onward, hoping his companion would think to turn on the video chat feature. Eventually, he spotted a yellow platform leading up and out up ahead, a benevolent hand lifting him from the chemical water. Praying that it wouldn't break, he sped on toward it...
---
The dinosaur's coding wasn't hard to break through. Eventually, Heart-Man cracked it, making the creature go dormant. He thought for a brief moment--try to steer it himself, or just let it go on autopilot? He quickly decided he didn't have enough experience to try piloting one, and set it to take care of itself. Leaping out of the creature, he proudly announced, "the thing's ours now!", and punched back the Sniper Joes that were surrounding his comrade. "You alright?"
---
Roll soon found herself falling into a pattern--slash or bash the incoming missiles, and jump for the occasional offbeat of a mine. She was happy to be getting a real battle in, but it still felt boring to her somehow. As she "fought," however, she noticed her opponent inching towards the window. Figuring he would jump out of it to flee, she held Virus close, waiting for the moment when he would.

(That's the DOS Blade Man, if you were confused.)

The dinosaur let out a roar, and spat fire at the surrounding Joes. They quickly got scared and fled the area. Some of the escaping Joes were torched, but others managed to retreat deeper into the complex.

The dinosaur then calmed itself down, and stooped its giant neck to nuzzle Heart Man gently. A small amount of oil trickled out of the wound he inflicted on its neck. The rest of the Light Forces got by largely unscathed, despite the downed Pookin and a few minor injuries. The Joe Trio breathed a sigh of relief, then started to inspect the damage and wreckage of the downed vehicles and Joes. "Most of the bodies and heads are intact, Heart," one called. "You could probably repair a lot of these."
---
Search Man kept providing covering fire as he inched closer and closer to the window. Finally, he fired off one more volley, then jumped out. He was able to grip onto the second story window, and he flung himself inside.

He stood by the window again, waiting for Roll's response.

(Oh. Well, okay, then.)

Heart-Man looked around briefly, and quickly switched to his Welding Fist. "All uninjured troops, continue to chase the enemies. Don't let them regroup!" As the vast majority of soldiers cheered and ran down after them, he heated up his Welding Fist and carefully patched up the dinosaur's cut neck. "Sorry about that, boy," he said in his tender doctor voice, "you know I didn't mean to hurt you."
With him out of the way, he turned to the piles of broken enemies. Apache Copters were everywhere, along with their pilots motionless on the ground. Heart-Man's medical instinct had all but replaced his appetite for battle at this point, and he rapidly got to work cleaning up the carnage.
---
When Search-Man jumped for the window, Roll was ready. The hallway was small by comparison, but there was enough room to dodge one last shot--she sidestepped the last Homing Sniper, then gave a great leap to jump over the mines and out the window. Her intent was to tackle Search-Man and send him sprawling to the ground (Though, in hindsight, that plan did little to preserve her own self). Unfortunately for her, Search-Man wasn't in the air she had tackled, and she was barely able to keep herself from falling to her doom. Luckily, she caught one of the window frames.
Whispering "Don't get angry, don't lose control" to herself, she quickly pulled herself up and into the building again. She could only guess that a similar thing had happened to Search-Man, so blindly she swiped forward, hoping to land another free hit.

The Light troops flung themselves through the staircase, in hot pursuit of the Joes that fled. The Hot Dog that Heart Man had reprogrammed chatged ahead, roasting and chomping Joes left and right.

Up on the ground, the Joe trio was busy fixing the helicopters and some of the Joes using limited medical skills. Since it had been a clean decapitation, it wasn't hard to put the heads back on, but the wires would be troublesome. Thus the Joes merely lined up the heads with the matching bodies going from their serial number while they were fixing the copters.

"It'll be nice finally having some of these guys on our side," one remarked.
---
The sword pierced through a robotic structure that certainly felt like it was Search Man, but in reality it was one of the decoys he used against Mega Man during the 8th Rebellion. The shadows concealed the true target, who was lying in wait for her.

Heart-Man smiled, hearing the sounds of combat below. They're winning, no doubt, he thought to himself. "Thank you for staying behind to help me, gentledroids," he cast out indirectly to the Joes who had stayed behind. Soon, he was in a working assembly line--as the Joes were lined up, Heart-Man rapidly stitched them together; first, their wires, then their chassis. "You know, I wholeheartedly agree," he said with a smile. Apache Joes were the worst kind of enemy to encounter on the other side.
---
At first, Roll was joyous at seeing she had landed another hit, but as she pulled back, she noticed--no fresh oil on Virus. "Damn it, a decoy!" Out of anger, she attacked it again, splitting it in half. She had seen this before--her opponent was hiding, and not in an obvious hiding spot like a bush. Relaxing her shoulders, she sighed. "Go ahead, Search, land a free hit on me," she muttered towards the darkness, "you know I'll never find you..."
---
"Father...I'm sorry..."
The freshly recompleted Wire-Man stood in front of Coda now, a blank expression on his face. His "skin" looked pale and ashen, as if he was sick, and his gray armor now tainted green. The most significant change was to his Cable Whips--gone were the safety covering that was present before, and they now constantly sparked with electricity. Coda smiled, pleased to see both his child his again and his handiwork.
"That's quite alright, Wire, but you know how you can make it up to me? Seek out your seven traitorous siblings, and make them see the light as well."

The purple Joes who were repaired quickly got to work repairing their copters. Eventually, there was a platoon of them, ready for action- 30 Apache Joes, their copters fully repaired. There were also a few Returning Joes that were fixed by the three, given that the shields were still intact and the damage suffered was light.

The Joes lined up in formations, waiting for an order to move out. "The soldiers have it covered downstairs... what should we do with these ones?" a Joe asked.

"I suggest heading back upstairs and finish reprogramming any remaining 2nd and 7th Rebellion robots we need. The big guy," he said, jerking a thumb towards the dinosaur, "and the Returning Joes can stay here and guard against any more attempts at attacking."
---
Search Man tightened. It was clear to him he was being goaded to attack, so Roll could counter and strike him. Rather than risk an indirect missile fire again, he swung the butt of his gun over his head, hoping to smash Roll over the head.

"Sounds like you already know the best course of action," Heart-Man said with a nod. Between two repairs of the Apache Joes, he clapped his hands together, saying, "nice work, everyone, mission succeeded! Direct these Apache Joes back to the base so they can be used for offensive purposes...everyone else, I'll decide in a minute." Leaving the rest of the repairs to the Returning Joes, he sprinted upstairs to get to work on recoding.
---
Roll had no way of blocking the attack, but she was still quite irritated to get bashed over the head with Search-Man's cannon. As soon as she hit the ground, she jumped up again, an angry scowl on her face. "You're doing a mighty fine job of ticking me off," she growled as she whirled around to swing blindly at the darkness.

Search Man was in the other corner Roll swung at. Thus, he quickly beat a hasty retreat out the door while she was distracted. As he was running, he pressed a timer button on his wrist, setting the mines upstairs to go off in ten seconds.
---
The Apache Joes whirred out of the warehouse complex and torwards the base, while the Returning Joes stood guard with the dinosaur.

Eventually, the rest of the soldiers trundled up the stairs, tired but victorious. Skull Man, his white-blonde hair disheveled and a cut across his cheek, radioed Heart Man. "We beat them at the last floor. It's actually full of Minor Rebellion enemies, including those Gunner Joe guys and a bunch from the Stardroid Invasion. There are a bunch of Joes scattered around, too... might want to head down there and pick some up."

"Also, a Tripropellern and two of our Baccones were injured. You might need to fix 'em up. Me and the others will continue reprogramming upstairs."

"Hmmmm, i'll try video contact......" ProtoMan thought. He switched it on and saw Shorde's face. "Ok Shorde, need some help? I could come get you if you want." ProtoMan asked. He noticed he might be in the chemical water, but the background was going at high speeds.
(Oh, can we make it morning after Shorde, Proto, and Shadow get the emerald, cuz i'm eager to reveal Dr. King's plan.)
