Shorde ignored the sounds coming from his watch. He couldn't speak, and he couldn't afford to break his concentration. Dashing as quickly as he could, he watched the platform pass overhead, when he tried a difficult maneuver--he jumped, then, spinning in midair, turned around and caught hold of the platform. Step by step, hand over hand, he carefully walked up and out of the water. Almost instantly, he collapsed onto his knees, breathing heavily. "I think...I think I'm gonna be alright..." --- Heart-Man was pleased to hear a radio communication from downstairs. "Excellent," came his brief response. "Bring the injured to me or anyone else who can treat them; I'll get to them as soon as I'm done with the big one upstairs." He turned and sprinted up the stairs, eventually grinding to a halt and beginning to work on cracking the code on old King Gojulos. --- Roll couldn't hear the footsteps of the fleeing Robot over the sound of her sword swing striking nothing. She was frustrated to yet again strike nothing, but before she could do anything more, she set a hand on her chest and took a couple deep breaths. "Stay calm, Roll," she said to herself, "this isn't about compromising your friends' safety...you can beat this guy without releasing your demons. It's an honor thing...now, he couldn't have gone far!" Dashing down the hallway, she was completely oblivious to the land mines ticking away above her... |

A few of the robots started to bring the injured back upstairs, as well as many deactivated Returing Joes. When asked why they were carrying them up by one of the three First Rebellion ones, a robot answered,"Judging from your accomplishments, we assume these will be just as good." As he walked past, the Joe sighed, "Or better..." and looked over at one of the Joes standing guard next to the dinosaur. --- Search Man jumped out th nearest window, counting in his heads. "4..." "3..." "2..." "1..." Explosions rocked the building as the land mines exploded, sending the top floors toppling down. |

Roll was focused, tunnelvisioned on running straight ahead, but hearing the explosions above quickly made her change her mind. Seconds later, the shattering of glass was heard as Roll charged through a window. A few glass shards stuck in her armor, but she didn't care--all she wanted to do at that moment was defeat her opponent. She fell through the air, landing hard on her feet--jarring, but nothing her armor couldn't absorb. "Where are you hiding, Search...?" she muttered under her breath as she cautiously looked around in the dark. --- As Shorde breathed, he slowly got to his feet once more, looking around in the dark. "Actually, could you guys come get me? I don't want to take another wrong step and be in the water again." |

Search Man was walking away from the site with a casual air. As usual, he managed to evade attack and would be heading back to base. Two things kept him from feeling accomplished, though- one, Roll probably escaped, and two, she damaged him. "Ah, well..." "You can't get them all." --- After reprogramming all of the enemies they wanted, the Robot Masters began to trudge upstairs, with the enemies following them. The count was impressive in the short amount of time they accomplished it- five Hotheads, five Lightning Lords, three Pierbots, four Monkings, two more Fan Fiends, ten Snappers, and twenty Tellies. "We've reprogrammed as many enemies from the Second Rebellion. Any others you want us to grab, Heart Man? We could take some of the Hermit Crab guys from Bubble Man's stage..." Skull Man suggested. |

"Don't you know automatically?" Shorde looked over his watch, wondering what button he pressed to do that. "...Look...just come and get me, how hard am I to miss? I'm the soaking wet purple hedgehog who looks half-drowned." --- After combing the area for a good five minutes, Roll gave up, assuming her opponent had fled. She wasn't sure how to feel about it--on one hand, she'd made her opponent run away from her, and on the other...she hadn't finished him off. "Did anyone really win here...?" she wondered out loud. Suddenly, Roll remembered that she was on a limited battery life--one that was probably about to give out. She hurried back towards the Dr. Light base, finding a recharging room to spend the night in. Her injuries were substantial; she could keep going before stopping for repairs. Before powering down, she had only one more thought: It wasn't a victory...but it was a start... --- Heart-Man gave a quick shrug before going back to typing. "I always thought that they weren't that great...somewhat fragile, slow-moving...but if they're in bulk, it might be worth our time. In any case, half of you lead what we've taken so far back to Light, and half of you can stay back and hunt around for whatever else might be useful." A small "ping" sound came from his screen, and Heart looked very pleased. "Alright, we've got Gojulus." With a few claps, he sent everyone back to work, and he spent most of the rest of the night hacking and sending troops. Won't Dive-Man be surprised to find all these new soldiers...? |

"Alright." ProtoMan said. He climbed on his ProtoJet and flew up. He saw Shorde soaked, and coughing. He then landed. "Alright. Hop on." ProtoMan said as he helped Shorde up, and onto the ProtoJet and it lifted up again and flew off. |

Skull Man nodded, and told a few of the original soldiers to take the reprogrammed droids back to base. They marched out of the complex, and only the Returning Joes downstairs along with the dinosaur remained. Heart Man's forces were slowly growing- two Kaginances and a polar bear robot were slowly patrolling the area. There were also some of the venerable Bunby Tanks, a few more Tripropellerns, and a bunch of Gobots. A few of them had wandered downstairs, and in the confusion that followed, one was shot down by a Returning Joe. It sputtered through the air until it crashed into the wall, revealing a small passageway. When two Joes went to retrieve it, they noticed a large recharging capsule at the end of the room. As they went up to it, one of the Joes lit a small light on its visor. The words above it spelled out DRM. 002: EXPRESS MAN. The Joes in the room backed off cautiously, retrieved the Gobot, then motioned for another Joe to get Heart Man. The Joe went upstairs, and found him, motioning for him to follow. |

When word reached Heart-Man that there was a curious Robot Master lying dormant in the deep levels of the facility, he rushed down there as quickly as he could run. When he got down there, he took a brief look at the name and shrugged. "Never heard of them...but quite like the DOS 'Bots, I didn't have time to brush up on everyone. I'll see what I can do..." As he kneeled down beside the capsule and examined it more closely, however, his face lost a bit of its cheer. "Hrrrm..." His keyboard appeared, and he started tapping away, face serious and determined. "This one's going to be a tough one. This capsule's not only got strong security, it wants voice recognition from me. Hopefully, I'll be able to figure out who and emulate their voice, but I might not succeed...and if I do, I'll be here all night. Get anyone else you want and you can go. I'll be safe by myself." |

The Joes saluted, and clambered up and out of the small enclosed room. They brought the giant dinosaur with them, but not before stopping at the front gate to look over the two Jumbigs that had been downed when the initial raid began. Shrugging, they loaded the two hopping giants onto the back of the dino, then perused inside for anything else they could use. They grabbed a couple of the mangled bikes that had been wrecked during the Joe assualt, and they also got their Land Armors from the room (they reprogrammed the pilots). After that, the group left, leaving only one of the Kaginances and a few Tripopellerns for Heart Man's escort back. |

A voice spoke up from Tails Doll, who returned to Shorde and Proto. "Good, very good." Alt Vestra said. "Now, we must hurry and find the next Cha-" There was static, but a voice, though faint, could be heard. "P... Please help... M-me..." Vestra said. The static ended. "-t is vital to my plans. Am I clear?" Alt Vestra said. |

Shorde sat quietly on the Proto Jet, letting the wind dry himself out, when he looked up to see the Blacksmith Plush. Almost immediately, he covered his eyes with one of his hands--he had no desire to look into that creature's eyes again. He listened intently to the message, and although he still didn't quite believe it was Vestra, he was still attentive to what it said. His heart skipped a beat when he heard the static and the stray cry for help. He knew the knightly thing to do was to respond to the call for help, but he also knew that this was not a knightly age--trying to shake it off, he tried focusing on the last part of the sentence. "...Your plans?" he inquired. "I thought it was us who had plans for the Emeralds." |

As Heart Man was busy working on the capsule, the eyes of the Robot Master inside started to dimly glow. Hrm... ugh, morning already? Groan... I thought I was a reserve. Hm, wonder who's down there working on my capsule. Looks like a surgeon robot. Interesting. Maybe I could see what he's up to. Sure, why not? "Door, activate opening sequence," he stated. The capsule slid open to reveal the sleek, purple Robot Master. He looked over Heart Man after stepping out. "Well, is it time for me to head out already? Suprised the old man didn't come himself- that's what he said he'd do. Anyway, name's Express Man. I'm ready to bust some Light bots- surely Wily gave you my orders, right?" --- Blade Man had walked out on his patrol route in the dead of night. He wasn't looking for much, he was simply bored. As he turned west, he thought he could pick up slight whirring sounds. "Apache Joes... and it sounds like a lot of them." He revved his Blade Launcher as the first wave came into view, but something stopped him from firing. "What? These guys are... are allies?" The Joes landed in front of him, saluting to the purple robot. "We're told to report to the Light base. Where is it located?" the apparent leader asked. "... Follow me. I'll lead you to it." He told the Joes to get back in their copters and fly behind him. |

As he heard the sound of the regeneration capsule draining, Heart-Man swore under his breath and slammed his fist down--passing right through his keyboard, which promptly vanished. Standing up, he cleared his throat, deleting the temporary code he had of a near-perfect emulation of Dr. Wily's distinct German accent. He thought quick. He didn't know this Robot--but this Robot didn't know him. Cobbling ideas quickly, he realized that he could pretend to be a Wily Robot for as long as he needed to...Yes, and I'll stab him in the back when he doesn't expect it, then we can make him ours. With his plan formulated, he looked up, and found Express-Man out of the capsule standing before him. He listened carefully to the Robot, listening closely for what he could twist around and deceive his foe with. "Yes, sir. Heart-Man, from a special, obscure line of Robots. It's a pleasure to meet you. Well, you see...Dr. Wily is very busy right now, leading a war. You've been moved to a warehouse in Mobius, a world distant from the robotic city we're used to. Dr. Wily thought we could use this world's location and resources to tip the battle back in Monsteropolis to our favor--a stroke of genius, I say. The locals have either fled or been killed, and all cities have been bombed but one, where we're locked in a struggle. Both sides have their base stationed on opposite sides of the city, and neither are willing to give ground. We're both planning big attacks on the other, getting ready to strike and flush out the others and win...hence, we need all the mechanical muscle we can get." "That's where you come in," he continued, punching Express-Man in the shoulder. "Get ready; we're plotting a quick night attack before the big one tomorrow. Please, though, be careful--Mega Man is here, and his sister Roll, too." When he was given a strange look, he added, "let's just say she's changed a lot over the multiple years you've been gone." |

Express Man looked quizzically at the medical robot, then narrowed his eyes. "A minor rebellion, hmm? To be honest, mister Heart Man, I don't believe the Coda Rebellion was a minor rebellion- what with all the kidnapping of Roll and Coda's near destruction of the city. Also a wee bit suprised you would consider yourself obscure, since, you know, you were in it." "What, do you think I live under a rock? I ain't stupid, you know- I know you and your siblings... and perhaps more importantly, I know who you're aligned with." Express Man shot a quick burst of solar energy at his foe, then raced out of the small alcove. "Hope you like the taste of my Solar Cannon, you swindler!" |

"Worth a shot--" Heart-Man stuttered out before being blasted with the Solar Cannon. He took the shot well, however, without being blasted off his feet--unfortunately for Express-Man, a lot of his speed came at the sacrifice of weaponry strength. "What an idiot," he muttered as he dusted himself off. "Were he truly educated, he would know what a threat I am and not let me live. Nonetheless...it's time to give chase." Waving to the sentinels guarding him to run with him, he burst out of the hidden chamber, dashing up through the levels of the facility. |

Express Man had already covered a large amount of ground, bolting out of the warehouse and into the open city... where he stopped. "Uh... Where do I go now?" he mumbled, puzzled. Then he stopped to think. He dumped me in this facility with no intention of using me... Express Man thought. Maybe it would be a good idea to go with the Light bots. Dr. Light was kind. His army was ill-equipped, and they needed soldiers. Express Man then disabled his weapon (weak as it was) and waited for Heart Man to come up. |

"Hm. Strange that there seemed to be two Vestras talking. Split personality disorder perhaps?" ProtoMan said as they arrived to the checkpoint pole. "Alright, let's get this show on the road, both Shorde and I will have to touch the pole since we both gathered rings." Shadow said. "On the count of three, ready Shorde?" |
