"Excellent." Dr. King's communicator starts beeping. He answers, "Yes? I understand, thank you for the update." Dr. King turns back to TideMan. "That was Spy. Hes found quite the interesting layout of Wily's fortress, he is deep in cover behind enemy lines and he figured out a way to turn off any automated security systems and override manual controls. Since he is disguised as a Sniper Joe he will eventually be assigned to patrol the control room for the defenses. But he doesn't know when that will be. If he manages to turn off the automated defenses, it will make our attack much more devastating and easier to pull off." He explained. "What do you want me to tell him, general?"
-----------------------------------
"We are in another Special Zone." Shadow said. "It has been noted multiple times that the Special Zones holding the Chaos Emeralds are different from one another. Sometimes the Chaos Emeralds don't go to Special Zones at all...." Shadow explained. "Which means...that there may be some Chaos Emeralds outside, but near Special Zones." ProtoMan said. "Correct ProtoMan, Vestra's scanning technology might have picked up a few Chaos Emeralds that are near Special Zone locations but not exactly within them."

Tide-Man did not like the sound of this. One brother missing, and a Robot that went rogue. What was he supposed to think? "For all the smarts you supposedly have, you couldn't figure it out?" he muttered to the young scientist as he walked away slowly. "You can talk to Bright about that; it's his plan. Consider the useful things that Spy could do where he is, and determine whether you want him to blow his cover just yet." Flipping on his communicator, he briskly typed out a message to the other Coda Robots: "Wire-Man missing. Hunt begins at two o'clock. Meet in infirmary."
---
Pyro-Man stopped abruptly when he heard a "beep" coming from his wrist. After reading the message from Tide-Man, he kept walking down the hallway, his thoughts returning to Shadow-Man...hey, was that Shadow-Man up ahead? He dashed to his side.
"Hello again," he said with a wave. "Didn't mean to scare you out of the training room, if you're afraid of a challenge. Is there somewhere you're going? I'd be happy to join you on an attack or a mission."
---
"So...how do we leave, and where's the real Chaos Emerald?" Shorde looked around slowly, as if expecting a horde of Robots to appear at any moment. "If it's not in here, it's probably down in the water...I don't know what that stuff does to metal, but to me it's harmless. Except I can't breathe underwater, and all Mobians naturally fear the water. I'm open to ideas!"

"Well we don't know if its here or not, but we'll just have to find out...." ProtoMan said. Suddenly the Chaos Emerald flew over their heads toward a high speed half pipe with balloons all over it. "Well, it begins..." Shadow said as he jumped down on the half pipe and ran after it. ProtoMan followed.
-----------------
"Good luck in your endeavors TideMan." Dr. King said to him as TideMan walked away. "Spy, wait until you are ordered to guard the control room, then discreetly dispose of security monitors and the personnel, and deactivate the automatic turret systems." Dr. King said. "Copy that." Spy said as he cut the connection. Crackshot was wandering around the base observing his surroundings, his long SniperBuster was retracted into his arm, he then suddenly came upon two robots, one looked like a ninja and the other looked like he controlled fire. He walked up to them. "Howdy, pardners...I'm Crackshot pleasure to make your acquaintance." He tipped his hat.

Shadow Man groaned as one of his arch-enemies bounded up to him like some sort of hyped up school boy. "No thanks, I work alone-", he started before he comprehended his entire sentence. "...Scared? You think you scared me?! I'd teach you a lesson you won't forget if you ever try and insult me again like that, you brat! Now get lost, you're only wasting my time!" He rounded a corner in a hurried pace...

...and ran into yet another robot. "Sorry, pal, I'm not in the mood to deal with anyone right now." He then stomped down the hall, ignoring anyone else who was trying to strike up a conversation.
---
Astro Man was studiously staring at the monitors displaying his extensive base. Everything had to be working perfectly in harmony in order to keep it in the tip top shape.

Soon enough, he noticed it wasn't that way.

"What the... the connection for the turrets has been cut. Hmm..." Fearing an infiltrator, he soon headed into the hallway to the main computer room.

He walked around the corner and he saw another robot. He looked like he was pretty handy with fire. He walked up to him. "Howdy, i'm Crackshot, pleasure to make your acquaintance..." He held out his right hand.
----------
Dr. King stayed put. He had no absolute way of sending out a message to the generals that he had activated an Army Joe and if they would like to evaluate it so he could gain permission to build more for the assault.

Pyro-Man stood there, fairly puzzled. "I think if I wanted to insult you, I would've called you a coward for hiding all the time...and yet, for being so 'hidden,' your emotions sure do boil close to the surface." With a turn, he flushed the negative emotions he would not allow himself to feel, and greeted Crackshot with a hearty handshake. "Well, hey there, Crackshot! Name's Pyro-Man, of the Coda family. Haven't seen you around before...what can I do you for?"
---
"Oh, boy, a half-pipe..." Shorde rolled his eyes. "I never was too good at those." With a leap, he followed his friends into the pipe, building up to a speed as quick as he could muster.

"I am a robot made by Dr. King, the top roboticist and head of all robot-realted affairs in the U.N. Meaning hes a general, and a scientist." Crackshot explained. "I specialize in mid to long range combat, but I have my energy blade if my opponent gets too close for comfort." "So do you guys have a training room where I can practice, or spar with others?" He asked.
-----------------
"Pop as many balloons as you can! Just run into them. This course is made for teams of three....." Shadow explained. "Everyone form a triangle formation behind me, its the most effective way to pop these balloons.."

Shadow Man heard the comment. He ignored it. "Always have to have the last laugh with you Coda bots..." he muttered. His anger eventually started to dissipate and wash away as he headed toward the mission booth. Out there, there was no room for emotions- only precision.

"Need anything for me to do today?" he said passively to the job holder. The robot looked around, but showed a pensive look on his face. "Sorry, Shadow, no one-man buisness. I could put you up for a scouting slot."

Shadow Man thought for a bit. Scouting runs were usually boring, but it was time to himself... and hey, maybe I'll get lucky, he said to himself. "Sure, put me down for one right now." He stretched himself out and headed out the door to the west portion of Light's boundaries.
---
Star Man sat glumly in his cell, kicking around a rock. "Man, this is bogus," he muttered to himself. "All I did was be an enemy to that jerk Gust Man, and he- err, well, that purple girl- sticks me in here. Sure, it's better than dying, but it's so boring..." He looked at some of the other cells. One had a door blown off of it. "See, if I was put in that one..."

"Aw, pipe down already," a voice next to him said. Star Man was perplexed. "There's another person in here?"

"Two. It's us, Air Man and Flash Man. Somehow they let Bubble go, Wood, and Heat... Bloody lucky, they were. I'm not even sure what happened to the others. But us? Ha... we get stuck in here."

"Well, how did you get stuck in here in the first place?" Star Man asked.

"Tried to break out, didn't work." Star Man laughed. "Have you ever tried it again?" He activated his Star Crash, and broke a steam pipe in his cell. "Help! Help! There's a steam pipe broken loose in here!"

A Joe guard quickly rushed into the room and unlocked his cell to get him out- and then he was sliced into pieces by his Star Crash. "Heh, too easy. I should have done that earlier." He unlocked the cell for the other two, and headed out of the prison room.

"Well, I think there are some other Robots training just down the hallway..." Pyro-Man pointed down the hallway, in the direction of the large storage room he'd used the day before. "But if you want to get some real training in, I recommend going out into the field. Training here has only ended oily and pointlessly, and it would be better for you to go out into the field and try to capture Wily Robots. Remember, they don't really want to fight, so the more we get away from Wily and his goons, the better off they're doing. So, how about it? You and me, go together and try to get one?"
---
"Ah, yes, I remember hearing about these before..." Shorde stepped off to one side of Shadow. "Seems simple enough. Let's play carefully, and hopefully we won't miss any..."
---
The Wily infirmary was suddenly made hushed, as a greenish-tinted soldier sauntered past. It was none other than Wire-Man, whose coldness had only been magnified by his transformation. "I am going on patrol to slay Light Robots on the western portion of the city," he said in a metallic voice. "If anyone cares to join the slaughter, they are free to follow." He turned and continued to walk, without looking back to see who was following him.

Search Man looked grimly at his cannon arm. It didn't quite make sense. They were outfitted with first-class weapons, heightened aiming skills, and data processing that not even Bright Man could match- all of it was geared toward battle. Yet, with all of their upgrades, they couldn't beat Roll. A girl built for housekeeping. What gave her the cutting edge...? the two heads thought in unison.
---
Air Man, Flash Man, and Star Man slunk around the underbelly of the base, concealing themselves from any guards. "Hey, check it out! An airduct!" Star Man said. "Good guys always crawl around in these things in spy movies to get information... Come on, let's go in!" He shuffled his way inside.

"How unsanitary..." Flash Man grumbled. "You first."

Air Man shook his head. "Too big. It'll have to be you two. I'll go it alone and meet up with you later." Flash Man only scowled as he went into the duct.

ProtoMan flanked to the other side of Shadow. Balloons obscured his vision, but he was popping them at least. Shadow had no problems getting through the balloons however, almost as if hes done it before.
--------
"Thanks for the tip, pardner." Crackshot said. "I'm under orders to help y'all the best I can. So why don't we file to do a mission, your choosin'." Crackshot said with a tip of his hat.

(Pyro got a name change while we were away.)

"No, no, you go first, I insist. My only requirement is that it doesn't take all day." Kindle-Man took Crackshot off in the direction Shadow-Man had walked, approaching the mission counter. "What do you have for us, soldier? My new friend and I here are ready to engage on a mission."
---
It was about that time when Roll woke up. She hadn't been asleep long, but she was charged and ready all the same. With last night's events in mind, she felt a little bit stronger, a little bit more self-confident. Today was the day, she thought to herself, that she would finally kill another Robot Master. She wouldn't come back until she did.
With such thoughts echoing in her mind, Roll left the room, quickly and quietly striding down to the mission desk. Surely, some Wily Robot would be overextending like a fool, and she would be able to take them down...
---
Wire-Man walked through the streets, his face a blank mask. "Where are the Light Robots?" he said to no one, eyes sweeping the area like an emotionless sentry. His steps echoed throughout the roads, striking fear wherever we walked. "Where?"

Shadow blurred through balloons, the rubber pieces going everywhere and in his spines. Soon enough they were at the end, the three of them manged to accumulate enough balloons to get the Chaos Emerald. It floated down into
Shadow's hands and they were transported back to where they came from. "Excellent job.." Shadow said. "Well, we did it. Even though popping balloons is a strange task..." ProtoMan responded.

Wind whistled in the open plain.
"It's been a month, Dive," a voice said behind a large blue robot.
He grimaced.
"I know."

The city had been lost. A huge attack rocked the entire base. The majority had escaped, but many others didn't. The city was fully in Coda's and Wily's control.

Light forces had been driven out into a secluded, rocky area. A new base had been built, but they knew they were losing. Luckily, Wily forces still hadn't found them. But they knew they were running out of time. Dive Man stood overlooking the city from a grassy hill. Behind him was fellow general Knight Man, staring at the ground. "We lost the city a month ago. There's no hope."

"That's not true and you know it," Dive Man said. "She's progressing well."

"Fair enough," Knight conceded, "but is she truly ready? Has she finally gotten control of those powers?"

"I don't know. Perhaps not fully, but we'll never know until we try." He paused again. "The LAS is also helping considerably."

"I'm aware of that as well."

"The Coda robots have more than proven their worth."

"I know all this, Dive Man, but I'm not sure if we're ready."

"We have enough strength."

"Are you bloody sure?"

"As sure as I'll ever be. All we need now..." He stared down at the city, peering at the walls surrounding the border.

"Is hope."

The End...?

Dr. King was standing behind them, with the single active Army Joe. They came out of nowhere when they were about to do their large assault. And Dr. King was going to demonstrate the Army Joe's combat capabilities. But maybe this setback will allow himself to finally prove his worth to the Light Army...but with the limited resources he has now, with them cut off from the city and cut off from his makeshift lab with all of his supplies and equipment, he couldn't do anything at the moment. The only thing he could do was help. Spy was still active in the Wily Army under the guise of a Sniper Joe, so there is worth in that. And the Army Joe can be of excellent use, all he has to do is show the generals. After all, back in Monsteropolis, he is a general as well, and a scientist. He can, no WILL, help them. In the name of his country, justice, and his vow to destroy Wily.......

(2/3 playing along...? Ah, what the heck! Let's finish this up! In the interest of moving this along, though, I'm going to impose a THREE-DAY TIME LIMIT. If any one poster goes missing for three days, I'm declaring this officially dead, never to be resurrected again. Let's continue...)

"Damn it, stop that!"
Poison-Man's fist cracked against Wire-Man's face yet again. "I'm not letting up until the brother I know is back! Now, tell me! Tell me that you love me, brother!"
"I hate you with every wire of my being. I would sooner have my head taken off by Virus than admit a fake love for you."
"THAT CAN BE ARRANGED, PUNK!"
"There's no point in talking to him, Poison," said Shard-Man. In a bout of bravery, Shard-Man had recently raided the city and captured Wire-Man. "Not even Heart can crack the code. Until we can get him back to Light's, he's Coda's."
Poison-Man grunted, dragging his feet as he walked out of the cell. "I hate feeling powerless."
---
Roll sat alone in her room—actually, it was not even her room, she shared it with Rock—brooding. She was alone often these days; no time to watch over her as close as they had before. She sneaked out of the base regularly to go down to the city and "train" on unsuspecting Wily droids. She rarely encountered Robot Masters, and if she did they always got away before she could finish them. She had considered beheading Pharaoh-Man just to get his weapon, but ultimately decided that it wasn't worth the repairs it would take to fix him once she did.
Ultimately, her endeavors were fairly pointless, as the droids she killed were easily replaced—and Roll was fuming about it. Her developed battle-lust was gripping her, and she was antsy from sitting still anyway. She was giving serious consideration to getting as mad as she could, hopefully going Infectant, and stabbing the next person she saw to get in some combat practice when she heard the sound of metal footsteps outside. Thinking it was a return expedition into the city, she rushed outside to find no such thing. It was a lone soldier, clad from head to toe in a knight's armor, seemingly modified to promote flexibility and mobility. A sword was at his side. The figure looked Mobian, but who, Roll could not tell. By now the soldier had spotted her and marched toward her dutifully. As he slid up the grate on his helmet, her face lit up. "Shorde! You're back!"
"Yeah, I am...I know I've been gone for what seems like forever, but I'm back to finish the fight. After finding four of the Emeralds, these came back to me," he said, indicating his armor and blade. "With these in hand, Wily won't know what hit him. I feel great and ready to tear up some Wily Robots. And yourself?"
"I've been better, but not by much. The situation is dire, but the battle is more and more thrilling. ...Say, don't you owe me a sparring match?"
Shorde laughed. "I cannot even recall, but what the hey! I have nothing better to do. Draw!"
And their two swords clashed, right then and there, and it was an exciting and challenging battle for the both of them.
---
"It has been one month since we seized the last stronghold in Mobius. Light's forces remain, but they are trapped—they don't have their teleport technology. Mobius is effectively ours."
Dr. Coda sat across the counseling table from Dr. Wily, glasses glinting in the simulated firelight. "The question I pose to you, of course, is this: when do we attack Monsteropolis, and how? I understand you're nervous about facing the city that has crushed you several times over, but if you delay, people will think you are not coming at all, and they will begin to relax. This is not what you want when you are attempting a rule of fear. In addition, Malware is getting anxious...she already has Ballade wrapped around her finger, or at least she did last time I spoke to her, and she's yearning for more combat. We must move now or never move at all. What do you think of this matter, Albert?"

Dive Man headed back to base with Knight Man trudging next to him. The base was impressive- nearly similar in scope to the one in the city, and no less technologically advanced, but without the precious teleporters they needed to return to Monsteropolis. Bright Man and Volt Man were working night and day to fix them, but their efforts weren't going over too well.

Dive Man sadly shook his head. "I think we've waited for much too long, Knight," he mumbled. "Wily will have a free hand in Monsteropolis if we don't start doing something here. We've got to take back the city."

"Not yet! You know that the city is too well protected."

"Only by drones and a couple of Robot Masters. Not that many. If we can just punch through their defenses..."

He stopped when they reached the base and were greeted by Ring Man. "How are the defenses, Dive?"

"Strong. Walled and turreted. Joes surround the entire perimeter, and I'm sure there's more inside. We need some sort of attack, though... we can't sit around and do nothing."

"Well, the generals are setting up a meeting for that. You're needed in the board room- you too, Knight. Hopefully our Field Generals can do something with what we have left." Dive Man nodded, and headed into the building with Knight and Ring in tow.
---
Sleet Man sat twiddling his fingers. He was waiting for news about his brother Gust Man, who had been injured in a surprise attack when they attempted to scout the city. He had escaped with his partner, but they were in bad condition.

A floor below him, a robot was shouting. He pursed his lip. A slam on a wall could be heard. He believed it was one of Fog Woman's brothers- they had recaptured one of their own, but apparently he was reprogrammed by Coda. Whoever that was, anyway.

Soon, a Top Fiend in a large doctor coat came out of the infirmary. "Ah, Sleet Man. Gust Man and his partner will be just fine. Both didn't suffer serious damage- they got out pretty quick." Sleet Man nodded and mumbled a thank-you, then headed into the complex to see him.
---
Dr. Wily grabbed his chin. "The city isn't completely devensless, you know. Light alvays has some Robot Masters on tap. And besides, I haven't completed the veapon I'm going to use against Light anyvay. I'm still collecting the materials from this planet. Only a little more time, that's all I need. If I don't vind all of ze things I need, then ve'll go ahead vithout it. Your Malvare can spearhead the attack. Just give me a few more veeks, and I'll be vready."

Vready to take ze world for myself, dhat is! he thought when he templed his fingers. "Anyvay, vhere are those Light fools? We haven't seen any sort of base anyvhere."

Dr. King followed Dive and Knight as they headed back to base.
---------
ProtoMan is alone. He refused to go back to the Light forces after the long month, still due to his argument early on with DiveMan. Shadow and Shorde went and joined up with the Light forces. He was alone yet again. Always the rouge robot among everyone else. Yet he was fine with it, he did his best work alone. He stood there on a mountainside overlooking the city, casually whistling to himself.
-----------
Ballade was assigned to guard the interior of the city within the walls. He was patrolling the city around a skyscraper. And he was bored. "I want to bust some skulls...." He mumbled to himself. "Patrolling is so uneventful...I defeated some Light bots when we invaded but that was a month ago..." He looked around for a moment then kept walking around the block.
---------
Shadow was behind Shorde. He was talking to a small blonde girl, she looked similar to ProtoMan so she probably was a robot. "Hello." Shadow said, arms crossed.

"Well, we know they must have one somewhere, and not far from the city, otherwise they wouldn't keep striking at us and putting dents in our droid supply. Send the...um..." Coda paused for a moment, recalling which forces Wily still had. Half the Fifth Rebellion and the entirety of the Second Rebellion had been captured; the Third had proven incompetent; the Dark-Men were revealed as spies and murdered... "Send some of the Seventh Rebellion out in a scouting party to look for it. Yes, half of them are your generals; the other half can afford to go on a scouting mission. Hell, send Copy Robot with them if you're so worried it'll end in failure." He stood up, dusting himself off. "I will begin battle plans for storming Monsteropolis. I expect your 'secret weapon' to be off the ground within a week." With that, he stood up and walked away, already beginning to formulate battles in his head—hordes of Wily droids and Robots mowing down Light's remaining forces. He smiled at the thought.
---
The fight between Roll and Shorde lasted some time, before both of them nearly fell to catch their breath. "You've gotten a lot better." "And you're a lot stronger with that armor of yours." That was all that needed to be said—there was nothing more that Shorde could teach her.
Roll stood up and dusted herself off, to find another Mobian standing behind her. He vaguely resembled Shorde in design, but his color was all different. "What's your name, stranger?" she asked, mentally memorizing his face and idly wondering what his weakness could be. "You here to help fight Wily too?"
---
Tide-Man was sitting calmly in his chair, waiting for the other Generals to arrive. He was aware that he was not the favorite man in the room, having planned and gone on more than a couple effective, but unauthorized attacks on the city, including the one that won back Wire-Man. But this was it, the big moment: this council alone would determine who would truly win the war. There was no room for slipping up. Only the most sound logic would prevail.

Dr. King made it into the conference room next. He decided to walk ahead of Dive and Knight. He then took a seat next to TideMan in silence. Along with Tide, Dr. King knew he was very disliked among the generals, even by Tide himself. Which put him at the bit to of the popularity polls among them.
-------------
"I am Shadow the Hedgehog." He said. "And yes I am here to fight Wily. I was recruited by your red and gray clad brother, ProtoMan I believe was his name."
-------------
ProtoMan stopped staring at the city and climbed down the mountain.
