Rhydon was breathing hard, staring down the orange figure a few meters ahead of him. At his feet lay a Golem, burned and bruised, and a Rampardos, knocked unconcious. He watched as the orange figure slowly unwound itself into its regular form- a seemingly humanoid body, with long, DNA like strands for arms and a narrow, mouthless face. In the breast area of the creature was a shining, purple jewel. It was a sinister being, and Rhydon begged his eyes to look away. "You're a cruel beast, nearly killing my team... I will defend this world until I no longer stand, so I suggest you hightail it out of here," he threatened. The figure did not respond. "Leave, now, you wretched, vile thing, unless you want a Horn Drill in that pretty gem of yours." The figure's eyes narrowed. Rhydon took the silence as an incentive to battle, and charged at the figure. Before he could react, it changed into a sleeker form, darting out of the charging Pokemon's way, and was instantly behind him. The last he saw was its eyes glowing white before he was hit by a Psychic attack. His knees buckled, and he fell to the ground, unconcious. The figure loomed over the body, relaxed his eyes, and left the scene. --- "No way... Team Rock Rumblers is listed as missing?" Sandslash remarked after picking up a paper. He was part of the rescue team Dig-Duggers, who had been in the buisness for about ten months. He was shocked to find that as the opening story. "They're a Diamond- ranked team- they've been in this buisness for over six years... How did they go missing after checking out a burnt crater mark somewhere up in the northern woods? Surely it was supposed to be routine..." He flipped to the next page, reading more on the story. 'Search and Rescue for Team Rock Rumblers has continued... Battle marks in ground are present... other teams vowing to find cause of disappearance...' He was so busy reading the newspaper that he didn't bother looking at the bulletin board for jobs. He was worried other teams might suffer the same fate. Like his. Edited by Magnet Dood, Jun 19 2012, 11:55 PM.

Nearby was Espeon and Umbreon, of team Polarity. They were one of the newest teams, barely a week had gone by since they started up. "I really hope this missing team is okay..." Said Espeon. She was really worried about them, and hoped that they would return safely. Umbreon was notably less concerned. "As long as it isn't us." She remarked. "You should be more concerned, Umbreon." Espeon respond. "About what, exactly? We just need to be more careful than them." "Meine Nachtara," Exclaimed Espeon, "Du sollst mehr sympatisch sein." "Ich will nicht, meine Psiana," Umbreon replied, "Du weisst das. Du bist mehr wichtig zu mir." The two spoke a seperate language with one another whenever they didn't want others to evesdrop. |

A quiet sigh escaped the mouth of a Charizard, making the unsatisfyingly light backpack he carried sag. On either side of him, his companions walked--and floated--on in silence. Team Illuminara had just taken a hit, and the party was in bad spirits. Not to mention their feet hurt from walking, the sky looked like the Weather might change to Rainy, and they were all somewhat hungry. The Pikachu looked up from the ground he had been staring at, and almost immediately his face brightened. "A guild," he excitedly proclaimed to his teammates, hoping they would brighten up as well. "That's wonderful," the Mismagius opposite him mused, "I can catch up on news and perhaps pick up a bounty mission." "I could use a good bounty mission," the Charizard concurred, "but first I could use a good meal. Let's only hope it goes quick," he said as they began to run towards the Guild. As the Charizard withdrew Team Illuminara's ranking card, the entire team silently prayed that the Guild wasn't guarded by the bizarre, barbaric, and overall moronic "footprint method." |

A lone Sentret was standing to the left of the front door, standing guard, with no ground grate in sight. He could see the team heading torward the guild a long way off. Bouncing over to them, he said quickly, "If you're looking for lodging at the guild, we have some-" "Wait a second..." he said, his eyes narrowing. "You wouldn't happen to be Team Illuminara, would you? Gosh, you must be, you fit the bill perfectly! Right this way, sirs and miss, and welcome to Stoutland Guild." The building was definitely a thing to look at- it was huge for one. The guild was prestigious for supporting over fifty teams, so the building had underground areas stretching down 5 stories. "I'll go inform Mr. Stoutland of your arrival," he said when they were inside, and he disappeared down the ladder hole. Sandslash was so absorbed in the newspaper that he looked up quickly, then went back down. After a few seconds, he did a double-take, and his eyes widened as he saw the Gold ranked team. "T-Team Illuminara! Wow!" he muttered to himself. He put the newspaper back up to his eyes, and continued to read. A Magneton buzzed up the stairs, checking over the bounty list. "Hum... Let's see here... Ah, here we are. That'll do nicely." He took two job descriptions off the board and was heading down the stairs, when he noticed the team as well. "Wow... You're Team Illuminara!" he exclaimed, hovering over to them. "Nice to meet you- I'm Magneton, of Team Electrostriker. Welcome to Stoutland Guild- it's usually much busier than this, but it's kind of early in the morning..." He looked behind him, and noticed Sandslash behind him. "Hey, Sandslash, what are you reading?" He looked up nervously from his paper, and squeaked, "The disappearence of Team Rock Rumblers." "Wait, what? Disappearance? They're Diamond ranked, though! What happened?" "Nobody really knows, though a bunch of teams are desperate for answers. Lots of Gold ranked teams are going out to find them... Team Flash Flood, with Blastoise, is probably the most notable one I can think of." He looked back down at the paper. "Maybe Alakazam and his team-" "I dunno. If whatever happened could make the Rock Rumblers, who were on the fringe of going to Pearl Rank, disappear... perhaps it'll do the same for a Legendary Team." "Maybe..." was all Sandslash replied. |

Normally, this was when the Charizard would smile and cash in on his fame--he wasn't the showoff type, but everyone knowing him was kind of cool. Instead, he sighed in sync with the Mismagius, and they both continued deeper into the Guild. "Our day's gotten off to a rough start," the Pikachu explained to the small group gathered. "When we woke up, we were almost immediately set upon by a band of Ludicolo...darned things think they're so great, just because we've got no type advantages on them. Eventually we repelled them, but they stole all of our Apples--the Apples we were going to use on our next expedition. Team Illuminara is demoralized, hungry, and tired... "but that shouldn't keep me from being sociable to you!" The Pikachu took one of the Magneton's magnets and shook it--the closest thing he could get to a handshake. "You've come to know me as Sparky, and our two gloom'n'doomers downstairs are Hothead and Whisp." As the Sandslash spoke to the Magneton, Sparky's eyes suddenly lost their friendly glow. When he was done, he leaped upwards in shock. "Rock Rumblers went down?!" he shouted, wondering if he had heard correctly. "We met those guys once; they're tough as...well, rocks! I bet they clean out Monster Houses with one single solitary Earthquake...whatever brought them down, it was hardcore. Can I read that article?" |

Espeon and Umbreon took notice of the arrivals. "Hmm... I wonder who they are..." Umbreon wondered, and Espeon replied, "I believe they're team... Illuminara, if I remember right." "Illuminara? Like that secret orginization?" "No, Umbreon, that's Illuminati. And it doesn't exist." "How do you know?" Espeon sighed. "We've had this discussion before, meine Nachtara. There's no such thing as the Illuminati, it's just an urban legend." Umbreon thought for a sec, and replied, "That's what they want you to believe." Espeon shook her head. She found it hard to work with Umbreon sometimes. "You're paranoid." Umbreon cracked a smile. "Or I'm right." |

Sandslash gingerly handed him a newspaper. "Something's definitely up if such an accomplished team was defeated..." he muttered as he finished the article. "Happened in Sleetstreak Woods, way up north. Apperantly, some meteor touched down there, and the team went to help any Pokemon affected. They haven't been seen since 9 o'clock last night." "Electrode should probably know about this... Wonder where he-" "Magneton! Where have you been with those bounty jobs? We've gotta start early, you know." An Electrode popped out from a nearby elevator, followed by an Electabuzz. "Sorry, Electrode, but I was just talking to Mr. Sparky here-" he began. "Sparky? Of Team Illuminara? Wow! A pleasure to meet you, Sparky. Can't believe the reason I went into the buisness is standing here in the flesh!" Electrode's grin faded soon, however, as went back to Magneton. "I'd still like to know why you've kept us waiting," he exclaimed. "Err... Well, Team Rock Rumblers went missing last night." "W-what? But they're Diamond-Ranked! What in the world happened to them?" "We don't really know for certain. I guess they must've run into some major trouble... They never came back to their rescue base." Electrode was dumbfounded. "We better get out there and search for them ASAP, then! We're the best bounty hunters there are, and if anyone hurt those guys we'll let him have it," he said with a fierce glow in his eyes. "I wouldn't have a B-Rank team go find someone who beat a Diamond-Rank team, Electrode," Electabuzz muttered. He was looking over the Pikachu in front of him in a mix of wariness and curiousity. "Hmm... Yes... I suppose you're right..." he replied quietly, then directed his eyes over at Sandslash. "Who's off to help, Sandslash? Anyone we know?" "Mostly gold-rankers... Team Flash Flood I've heard of, though. Blastoise and his teammates saved a forest from being destroyed by fire and they saved hundreds of Pokemon. I thought he was good friends with Illuminara. Erm, let's see, who else... Team Junglevine, Team Inferno Blast, Team Swiftwing... Looks like a good rescue crew, in my opinion. Hope they find them." He finally rised from his seat, took two rescue descriptions from the board, and was about to head down when he remembered something. "Oh, Sparky, by the way, the kitchen is on my floor. I'll lead you to it if you wish." |

Sparky mumbled a "thanks" as he took the newspaper. He scoured it carefully, as if staring at it would make it less true or reveal a secret message or something, but obviously he had no such luck. Figuring that the rest of the group would grab their own copy once they heard, he placed it back on the stack. That's more than a decent rescue team, he thought to himself, if every single one of them fails, then we can't win. He then regained his previous smile, as he had set the paper up just in time to catch Electrode entering the room. As the leader of Team Electrostriker, Sparky smiled and waved. He loved going to Guilds solely for this reason--it showed him the teams he may work with one day. "You went into this line of work just for me? That's very nice of you, but that can't be the only thing...you've got to love helping others, and that's what really matters." As he listened to the panicked discussion about the meteor and the vanishing, Sparky's mind quickly wandered, until it was brought back by the word "kitchen." "Oh, there's no need for that," he said humbly, "we don't need to eat first. Like everyone else, we'll just wait for...oh, man, are we too late for breakfast?!" Without another word, Sparky got down on all fours and scrambled for the hole in the ground, diving down without even grabbing the ladder. --- Below Sparky, the duo continued their way to the bottom floor of the facility, where the Guildmaster usually was. The Charizard descended the ladder, and the Mismagius just phased through the floor and floated downwards. They would have to find them in order to receive lodgings, food, and permission to take missions here--all very good things to have with a Guild. It occurred to the Charizard that in their travels, they had never been here before. The Mismagius flew through a doorway, and, taking a hint from the Sentret guard, gave a more identifiable call. "Hey, wait a second, I'm st-" Sandslah couldn't say much more as he plummeted down the ladder, falling on his back on the third floor. His papers flew everywhere as his teammates, Dugtrio and Onix, came up to him. "You know, using a ladder is a lot smarter than using gravity, Sandslash," Onix remarked. "Who's the Pikachu?" "Team Illuminara's very own Sparky," Sandslash remarked. He bulldozed me down here after I mentioned food. Hear about Rock Rumblers yet?" "'Fraid so," Dugtrio remarked. "It didn't sound pretty for sure. Wherever they are, though, they gotten themselves in a huge mess." "I'd better go tell Chef Butterfree about Sparky and his friends over there before he snarfs down all of our apples," Sandslash remarked as he headed torward the kitchen. He peeked his head in the door way, watching the butterfly Pokemon prepare a delicious batch of the guild's apple cider pancakes. "Uh, Chef Butterfree?" "Mmm? Ah, Sandslash. Sorry, you'll have to wait like the rest of your guild members-" "No, I just wanted to say to make a little more than usual- Team Illuminara dropped by for a visit." The Butterfree shot him a confused look. "Really? Good thing we have so many Apples! Thanks for the heads up, breakfast'll be ready in ten minutes." Sandslash nodded, and headed out. "Err, where did Sparky go?" he said to his teammates. --- "Ruh-wuh-huh? Oh! Ahem, hrm, yes, come in," came a call from the adjacent room. Inside was Guildmaster Stoutland accompanied by his Sentret guard. His room was chock full of bookcases, and on his desk was a globe, of which several red dots were on it in specific locations. "Ahem, hrm. You must be Team Illuminara. Welcome to Stoutland Guild. I've shared the same dream you did, you know- when I was just a wee Lillipup, I joined forces with a Jigglypuff on his rescue team- must ask him how he's doing nowadays- and... and then... we... zzzzzz..." The Sentret jabbed him with his arm, and he awoke, startled. "Ahem, hrm, hoo, hnf, yes, yes, hrm. Anywho, if it's guest lodging you wish to aquire, there are open rooms on the fourth floor. Breakfast'll be on the third, and it's in about ten minutes... That's about it. Sentret, show 'em their rooms. I do hope you enjoy your stay." Sentret replied with a "Yes, sir," and led them out. "Don't mind the sleeping thing- he dozes often. Right this way." He disappeared up the ladder. |

(I find it somewhat hilarious how everyone has a miniature freakout when they see Team Illuminara...except for Umbreon and Espeon. I dunno, maybe they're just slow.) Upon hearing his name being called, Sparky stopped mad-dashing through the rooms and skidded to a halt. He had used Agility several times to speed along his search for the dining room, and cumulatively, he was running fast enough to leave afterimages. "Woah, someone call?" Then he spotted Sandslash. "Oh...heheh...yeah, that." Sparky felt a sweat droplet run down the side of his face. "You alright? I'll get you an Oran Berry if you're not...hey, look on the bright side, when I ran into you, it was far from top-speed." By now, the Pikachu was walking around and picking up Team Dig-Duggers' papers, handing stacks of them back to their leader. "I just figured that time was of the essence, when I realized that we could've missed breakfast." As soon as all the papers were handed in, Sparky picked up the scent of breakfast being cooked--much to the relief of both himself and probably everyone else. He followed his nose to the dining room (Or at least one of them--who knew, with a Guild like Stoutland Guild?), where he quietly took a seat and waited. --- "Oh, I'm sure she's doing fine," the Mismagius chuckled, a surprisingly happy smile on her face. Team Illuminara had been to Wigglytuff Guild once before, in the hopes of meeting the team that had saved the world from complete temporal failure, and she knew that their Guildmaster was doing just as fine as this one. Probably just as insane, too, she thought to herself. The Charizard offered a bow. "Thank you for your hospitality, Guildmaster. As is customary with Team Illuminara, we shall split money rewards from our missions here with you 50/50. Consider that your payment." As he walked off to climb the ladder, the witch-ghost just smiled and floated up through the ceiling. It didn't take long for the team to get situated; the Charizard just set down the backpack he was carrying. With that out of the way, the two calmly walked to breakfast, which was beginning to sound like quite a good thing to them. |

"All right, that should be about it..." Chef Butterfree said quietly to himself, staring at the many, many pancakes in front of him. He went up to the small microphone in his room, and said over the PA system, "Breakfast is being served. Please report to the kitchen to pick up your helping. Today's breakfast is apple cider pancakes. Enjoy!" The PA system crackled off. Surely enough, teams started to come down the ladder and elevator, and they poured into the kitchen, each grabbing one plate only. When they started coming into the dining hall, some of them looked a bit confused at the three Pokemon sitting there quietly. Eventually, a Weepinbell came up to them. "Uh, I don't know if you guys know this, but due to the size of this guild, we usually pick up the food ourselves through the kitchen. There's still a lot left though- the late-risers aren't up yet." He went to sit over by his team. Sandslash and his teammates took a seat over by another team, consisting entirely of bug Pokemon. "Hey, Team Leecher. How are the rescues going for you?" "Could be better," a Parasect said. "Not many jobs are rolling in, it seems." "Not going to help your promotion, is it?" Dugtrio said slyly. Parasect glared at him, and went back to his food. Team Electrostriker was chatting with another Poison-based team. "So, Arbok, how have your bounties been?" Electrode asked the large snake. "Good. Still haven't missed one- guess we're still tied." Electrode smirked. "Not for long. One of us is bound to make a slip up- hope it's you first," he said jokingly. Both of them chuckled as they continued eating. |

(The two are still new to the business. They don't really know who the great teams are.) Espeon could smell the food as well. "Ahh, the fantastic fragrance of food. Umbreon, let's go down and have some, I'm feeling rather peckish." She said, going to the ladder. "I suppose... And I'm still nervous about that ladder." Umbreon replied, following her. The two began carefully climbing down the ladder, following the smell. At the sound of the PA, the two hastened their pace and soon enough arrived at the origin of the scent. They went to the kitchen, to pick up some food. They were still sort of new to the system. Once they got their food, Espeon used simple psychic powers to hold the two trays of their breakfast as they proceeded to sit next to one of another team, one with a Sandslash. Espeon, naturally, was the one who chose the spot. Umbreon quickly began eating as soon as she sat down, and tried to not make eye contact with anyone else. "Oh? Well, that would make sense for a place this large." At once, the Mismagius rose from her chair and flew through walls to the kitchen. The Charizard wound up being the last to get in line, and he was about to start complaining when the Mismagius put up a wispy tendril. "Oh, calm down, Hothead, he said there was plenty." He just ground his teeth. "Easy for you to say, Whisp, you always clip through the walls to get here first." The line moved rather quickly, so it only took a couple minutes for Team Illuminara to sit back down with their breakfast. As they sat down, the group closed their eyes and folded his hands. The Charizard, who led the prayer, spoke softly enough for only those nearby to hear. "Dear Arceus, we would like to thank you for this meal, along with the many blessings we are not yet Legendary enough to understand. We thank you for our good fortune in finding this Guild without much event, and we thank you for gracing us with such kind-natured Pokemon. We pray that..." at this point, Hothead fell silent. Sparky leaned in towards him and whispered something; he looked shocked for a brief moment, but then regained his prayer pose. "We pray that whatever has befallen Team Rock Rumblers, that you are watching over them, and we hope that the Teams searching for them will return quickly with good news. Continue to watch over us and the Pokemon world, and continue to bring us good fortune. Amen." With their prayer complete, Team Illuminara ate breakfast without much more conversation. Afterwards, the team split up--Whisp went back to the room to plan, Sparky to the Outlaw Boards to look for a potential mission, and the yet-unnamed Charizard remained in the commons, wondering if anyone would mingle with him. Espeon and Umbreon continued to eat, and soon finished their breakfast, so they went and put their dishes away. "That Charizard almost seems... Lonely." Espeon commented, looking at a Charizard that did, well, seem like they wanted someone to talk to. "Tsk! We should be going to the Outlaw and Rescue boards. After all, there might be a good job there that someone else will take!" Umbreon responded. "Meine Nachtara... Remember the day we met? I talked to you because I thought you wanted someone to talk to. You know what became of that." "Well..." Umbreon thought it over, but Espeon simply walked over to the Charizard. "Hey, wait!" Umbreon exclaimed. She swore to herself, and rushed over to her, as Espeon began talking to the Charizard. "Ah, hello sir." Espeon greeted. |

Rhydon had finally regained conciousness after a while. His two teammates were sitting next to him. "Finally, you're awake," Rampardos muttered, looking out to the sea. He and Golem were looked despairing and demoralized. "We managed to find out where we were after a while, Rhydon." "Where?" he inquired, alarmed. There was sea in front of him and ice behind him. "Artic Icefloes. We're stuck on the very top of the world. What the heck are we supposed to do?" Golem said angrily. Rhydon chuckled. "You think this is bad? We've been here sometimes- all we gotta do is get help. In fact, we can just warp out of here with our badges-" "-that were stolen from us." Rampardos cut in. "Along with everything else. Our only chances are finding an Escape Orb or getting someone around here to help- or we'll never be found." "Well, at least I'm not hungry," Golem said. The others nodded in agreement- hopefully they'll be able to ride out any ailments they might recieve. With that, they ventured further into the icy terrain, hoping they'd find something to get them out of this mess- and fast. Edited by Magnet Dood, Jun 24 2012, 04:17 PM.

(Oh, Team Polarity's not related by blood? Strange...that's what I'd assumed.) "Ah, just as I suspected. There's always someone that wants to talk to Team Illuminara," the Charizard mused as he spun to face the Espeon. He had heard their conversation before she had approached him--after all, you don't last as long as he has without sharpening your senses with some Gummies--and hence, his attention was mostly drawn to the Umbreon who was lurking behind her. "She a member of your team?" He asked, pointing a claw at the shadowy figure. "Not bad type variation, but...um..." The way the Umbreon was glaring at him made it very hard for him to focus. "Anyway," he turned back to the Espeon, "I suppose you've got some sort of a question about being a big-shot Expedition Team? Well, shoot. I've got the time and the resources to help you guys out." --- Sparky quietly reviewed the options on the Outlaw Board. Taking down an Outlaw was tough work, but a good way to make some quick money--which was a good thing for Team Illuminara at the moment. The Pikachu combed the list, wondering what would prove a good mission. "Let's see, here...stolen item, too low-tier, stolen item, vigilante justice, stolen item, stolen item..." Team Illuminara wasn't so fond of doing missions not authorized by the police force, because the last thing they wanted to do was turn people against them. Suddenly, Sparky's eyes widened as he spotted one particular mission. "Looks like they finally got some dirt on you, huh?" The assignment was to take out Swampert--a keystone in the black market, it was common street knowledge that he dealt in Spinda Grass. However, before he had been so slippery that the police force never found any true proof. "This is a bit high-brow for a Guild mission, but I'm not going to complain...especially with a reward like that." Without waiting for someone else to question him, Sparky took the mission from the Board and proceeded downstairs. "The others have got to see this..." |

"You're part of a famous team? That's quite fantastic!" Espeon comented, smiling warmly. Umbreon just stared, though Espeon gave her an aside glance of irritation. "...Don't mind her," Espeon said, "She doesn't like people she doesn't know." Espeon thought that it was pretty cool to speak with someone with such high ranking. Umbreon couldn't care less. |

Rhydon and his team had gotten through the mystery dungeon at a fairly quick pace. They found a few Big Apples lying around, and took them with them. Content that they had at least an OK food supply, they continued through the cave. It seemed as though they had made stellar progress- they had gotten to the end in a few hours. What they saw, however, put them into a state of shock. It was the orange figure they had battled earlier, standing over the injured body of Regice, the guardian of this area. He was about to give the finishing blow, he looked up and saw the rescue team. "Hmm, hmm..." the figure muttered. "You!? You're killing Regice, you-" Rampardos shouted, but Rhydon calmed him. "Why are you doing this? What do you have to gain?" "You... do not need to know..." the figure said wrathfully, though his eyes seemed to take acute amusement at them. "But... you may warn the others... of what is to come..." "What? What do you mean? Who are you?" "...Deoxys." The figure threw his arms up, and a bright light flashed upon the fallen legendary and the team. The next thing they knew, all four of them were warped into the crater, falling with a thud. The team all checked the unconcious Regice, and lifted him out. --- "Come on, team! We're off!" Electrode shouted. Team Electrostriker had spotted a bounty- a rowdy Garbordor who was accused of wiring money from numerous stores to himself- off to the west in Powercharge Plant, hiding out among all the broken machinery and evading police capture for a while. Sandslash and his team were off to Sapphire Cave to rescue a couple who had gotten lost whilst touring it. Most of the other teams were also getting jobs and heading off. Parasect and his team was still sticking around for the time being. He had come across Sparky while he was heading down the hall. "Hmm. You must be Sparky," he mused, looking over the Pokemon in front of him. "Big job description you have there? Given by your pace, it seems so." |

"Oh, you've never heard of us? You must be new here...well, your folks have come to know me as Hothead, and I'm the leader of Team Illuminara. If you see torches at the entrance to a new sector, that means we've been there once. We're Gold-Ranked, and right now we're planning an expedition to hunt down a Legendary Pokemon...but that's not important, I'm talking to you about you. Now, is there anything else I can--" "Lyte!" Sparky dashed straight by a mushroom-like Pokemon trying to strike conversation. Seconds later, he dropped from the staircase, an excited expression on his face. "Look who's up for bounty--that drug dealer, Swampert!" That got the Charizard's attention. Seizing the mission notice from his teammate, he carefully looked it over. "Confirmed dealer in Spinda Grass...Located in Murky Marsh, sector 17...reward, 5000 Poké plus question mark. That's the kind of reward I can get behind. Sparky, go get Whisp and get our gear ready." Sparky nodded, and ran off towards the room. Once he left, Lyte turned back to the team of two. "Well, it looks like we'll be shipping out real soon. Wanna come with, and see how it's done?"
