After years of searching, the police and military forces of the Khaganate of Pelhafor [Ikh Perhara Ulus] have finally located and detained Ünkhong Khan, who had been hiding in the city of Bindiyag with the help of his followers. After a swift trial, Ünkhong is now on the death row and is scheduled to die next week. As he is a khan, or a Pelhaforan prince, he is sentenced to be executed by back-breaking, for it is unacceptable to spill the blood of a khan, even if that khan is considered a traitor and a rebel by the Khagan's Government. In 2004, Ünkhong Khan rose in rebellion when His Majesty the Grand Khan Temugzha ascended to the throne after the death of his cousin. Ünkhong Khan claimed that, as the direct line of succession had been broken, the throne should rightfully be his, as he is another direct descendant of the legendary Peliaz Khagan. Ünkhong led rebel forces in a civil war which lasted four years, claiming the lives of many Pelhaforans. Uprisings in major cities-- especially in Riviipon, Aina, Menkan, and Önsing--rocked the country and sent the economy spiraling downwards. Ünkhong's forces were eventually defeated at Önsing and many of his supporters--deemed as traitors by the Grand Khan--were unceremoniously executed. Many were killed with quick shots to the head, which is the preferred method of execution for commoners in the Khaganate. Grand Khan Temugzha, meanwhile, gave a televised speech yesterday evening in his golden robes and headdress, declaring the start of his reign and a new beginning for the Pelhaforan nation [known as Perhara Uls or Perhara-Kuo by the Pelhaforans themselves]. |
