With our increasing population of role-players (okay, that's an exaggeration, but there is quite a lot of new RPers), we need basic rules to govern, especially since moderators cannot moderate the forum 24/7. Here are some basic rules I think we should include in our new "Charter of Role-Playing Rules". This is a draft; feel free to propose more. Regarding god-modding: 1.) Auto-hitting, or automatically inflicting damage on fellow role-players without their explicit consent, is not allowed. 2.) Power-playing, or controlling another player's nation or characters without their explicit consent, is not allowed. 3.) Using "MC Hammer", or the unrealistic and frequent evasion of taking damage from a hit, is not allowed. 4.) Power-gaming, or playing an all-powerful or unrealistically powerful character, is not allowed. 5.) Exercising omniscience, or the unrealistic knowledge of certain elements in role-play, such as secret meetings or secret weapons, is not allowed. 6.) Exercising omnipresence, or having characters somehow enter another player's nation without their knowledge, thus being unrealistic, is not allowed. 7.) Carbon copying, or suddenly producing large amounts of new soldiers without any basis, is not allowed. 8.) Ignoring another player's actions, unless if there are accusations of rule violations, is not allowed. 9.) You may not post in-character actions excessively, especially before the target player replies or responds to the action or actions. Civility: 1.) Personal attacks, or verbal out-of-character personal insults used with the intent of offending or irritating players, are not allowed. 2.) Griefing, or intentionally performing actions that may irritate players, such as spamming or needlessly and intentionally double-posting, is not allowed. This includes inflammatory and sensitive remarks regarding race, religion, politics, and the like. 3.) Inappropriate language should be kept to a minimum, especially in out-of-character posts. 4.) Any action contrary to the spirit of cooperation and the role-playing spirit will not be allowed. Banning and Administration: 1.) Members of the region with citizenship or diplomat status cannot be ejected solely on role-play offenses. 2.) Members of the region with citizenship or diplomat status cannot be permanent blocked from the forum solely on role-play offenses, unless if the member in question has committed serious offenses of disrespect or constant griefing. 3.) Members of the region will be blocked from the forum after several clear and explicit warnings. 4.) Members of the region cannot be prosecuted or punished for expressing their views or their characters' views in role-playing. 5.) At the approval of the Senate and the Founder, members of the region may be officially investigated for role-playing offenses, but must be informed of the investigation and the charges within 3 days of the start of the investigation. 6.) The rules will be enforced the Role-Play Administrator, the Consul, and the Founder. |

(Only joking.) Nation Puppetry: 1.) Puppet nations are additional nations that are played by a role-player which are not the role-player's main nation. 2.) Mappable puppets are puppet nations that are allowed to be mapped on the Role-Play Map. Non-mappable puppets are puppet nations that are not allowed on the map. 3.) The population of a mappable puppet will be a fixed percentage of the player's main nation, and will be deducted from the population of the main nation. 4.) The population of a non-mappable puppet will remain below 10 million inhabitants. 5.) For citizens, up to 3 mappable puppet nations are allowed, unless if the Senate allows the member to create more. 6.) There can be an unlimited number of non-mappable puppets. 7.) Puppet nations may be removed by the decree of the Senate if the puppet is seen as being unfairly used to the role-player's in-character advantage. |

No Offence Pelhafor, but this is really quite over-complicated... most of the first post is common sense and the puppetry rules in particular aren't really nessecary. There need to be rules of course, but seeing such minor details codified like this rings warning bells ...; I've been in regions before where RP completely came to a stop as for every decent post there were another five following it stating how it broke the rules in a hundred minor ways. Good RPers don't need this kind of framework and bad Rpers are better corrected as we go along ... I worry people we be put off by this ... |

I prefer complicity to chaos. I believe the nation puppetry thing should at least be written down and codified so that we don't have players creating too many nations and god-modding. If you believe that the other rules are unnecessary, then they probably are... |

We'll see how it goes anyway, You're the RP Admin after all. Just from my personaly experience, Rp's tend to be better with only a few restrictions. |

Well, either or both of the Crimson Magnate's two nations may be considered puppets, as they both do not carry his name. He would have to divide his population among those two nations regardless of which nation is his main one. In other words, the more puppet nations you create, the lesser your main nation's population is. That's the disincentive that tells you not to needlessly fill up the Modena map. |

Yeah sorry - I hadn't noticed it was still on the map. I did say I was replacing it with Mauitioch - I don't like running several nations at once. |
