Should we institute a system of how time flows in RP? As you may be well aware, time in RP is very different from time in the real world. A single post may cover an IC week. Three posts may cover an entire month! I believe, gentlemen (and ladies if there are any present), that we must set a policy for the regulation of time. In the 10000 Islands Role-Playing Forum, as the vice-moderator Kannex, I am in charge of RP Time. The general rule is that at the end of every OOC week (each Sunday), I will "advance" time forward by one IC month. However, the pace at which I advance time may be quickened or slowed. Depending on the state of RPs at the moment, I might advance time by 2 or 3 IC months, or delay the advancement of time by one OOC week. Note that when time is "advanced", you do not have to strictly follow it. For example, if you are participating in a slow-moving RP and the Present RP Time moves into - for example - January 2012, you are not forced to move into January 2012. Any questions or comments? |

I dont like that has much would if One RL day was a month or one week that way it could work for everyone so even if the RP was slow the time would really effect what happening in thier RP |

I do not believe one OOC day=one IC week or month would work well. First off, many RPs are not as quick paced. There are many RPs that are slow-paced and take place over a few IC hours. With due respect, if we do one OOC day=one IC week, that would ruin the whole point of time, considering most RPs would not be following the RP Time since many RPs - such as meetings and war RPs - are more slow-paced. I strongly suggest the OOC week=IC week idea because it is slow enough for RPers to follow but quick enough so that the RP Time is effective. One OOC week is enough time for a month of IC happenings, unless if we're talking about quick war RPs or a delay in RPing here. The point is to regulate the RP Time to an extent. |

Yes I understand we had this same kind of problem in Qwendra I guess your theory could work it just RPs here can get slow, like we have seen but i think if we get more members to join and praticpate in the forums that could change so lets put this up to a vote and see how that goes ? we also need to define what grade of tech we are we know we are not FT so what kind are we going to be |

We are going to use 2012-introduced technology. Of course, we don't exactly know what kind of technology will be used in 2012, but we can generally predict it. Any technology that will be introduced in 2012 is probably going through the final stages of development and testing right now in 2011. |

We'll start from September or November 2011, because we used August 2011 in the Takashu RP. I expect that a month has passed since the conflict started. From there we'll advance time on a regular basis. |

Sounds good to me. My only concern is that it would be fairly easy to end up like 50 years in the future, which would be a very different place politically, economically, socially, and even environmentally. |
