North Korea, the country with the most active troops as a total percentage of their population only has about 4 and a half percent of their population as active military forces. Granted their reserves are much higher than that, I still doubt they would call all of them into service, even if the Korean War started up again, they wouldn't be able to maintain that large a force for very long. It would also be very expensive to maintain, North Korea doesn't report its military spending, but the United States which only has an active military of about 1/2 a percent of their total population, and probably has the best equipment in the world, contributes to almost half of the worlds military spending. If your country maintained more than about five percent of its population in the military, and expected them to be capable troops with at least average equipment you would face serious consequences, in that your government would not be able to provide any other government service, in any useful quantity or quality, and you would likely have to have extremely high tax rates. |

I see no connection between Augustus's post about 5% military numbers and Pajaritos's post about 5% population cap. With a 5% cap, I have 90.5 million people. Pajaritos, meanwhile, will have 149,550,000. I think that's quite small. None of us reach 500 million, let alone 1 billion. |

My post was sort of directed at Harry's post. With a 5% population cap, many people would only have a few hundred thousand people in their nation. I'm pretty sure the county I live in has more than that. |

well in that case we can bump that cap to 10 percent due to the correlation of the population cap is not related to the military cap like we agreed on |

With a 10% cap, I would have 181.5 million. Pajaritos would have about 300 million. I propose a 20% cap. Since this is unrelated to military numbers, I believe we should at least have sufficiently high populations. |

no the proposal was this there is a 20 percent cap on your Rp population this 20 percent being taken from you NS population, at the same time there is to be a Military cap not related to the Population cap this would make RPing much easier and fairer to the gamer and somewhat realistic |
