OOC: This is a role play story in which Saxoiy is expanding its empire in the late 17th century into the early 18th century, i would prefer it if no one was to post in this topic but if they would like to join in or post please message me first, many thanks...

Trade Post Candan (Candanma is the name of the town and port that the trade post is part of)

The trade post of Candanma is one of Saxoiy's many trade posts in the area; Candan is one of the mainland trade posts which are part of a southern hemisphere continent. The Terrain here is similar to India or Africa with a humid savannah like climate with a wide range of wildlife. The people are similar to Indians and the continent known to the Saxonise as Andia is home to many native tribes with their own terrortries and laws, one of the larger tribes however is the State of Camodia in which Candan is situated in. For the past six months the Camodians and the Saxonise have been trading peacefully with each other but this is soon to change as you will soon find out.

At the Trade post there was a garrison of 300 men in their standard uniform, Saxonise infantry wore red tunics, white solar topee helmets and dark blue trousers with red piping down the side with bolt action rifles with bayonets attached and pistols.

The Officer in charge of the garrison was Lieutenant Colonel Monk, a 48 year old officer with previous experience in many of Saxoiy's Imperial campaigns. With over 30 years’ experience in the Saxonise Armed Forces.

Candan Garrison Head Quarters - Lt. Colonel Monks’ office

Meeting between Camodian Diplomat and Lt. Colonel Monk

"So, let’s have it then! I do have things to do around here as I’m sure you very well know!" The Colonel said in his gruff British sounding upper class voice, he was also wearing his red officer’s tunic and carrying his sabre and pistol on his belt.

"Yes, i know this Mr Monk but this important, my government is not happy with, what seems to be an ever expanding amount of land that you take from us, you have brought acres and acres of our land for farming and you are paying our people tiny money for hard work they give to you. We find this unacceptable and my government demands that you pay tax for land that you own and that you pay our peoples a minimum wage of one Denero, Twenty Den (£1.20), not the tiny money of seven Den (7p)!" The diplomat demanded wearing his traditional Sari with a sword on his belt.

"Ha! Do you honestly think that we are going to do that? Be lucky that they get paid anything you stupid Candar (An offence and racist term that enemies of the Camodians use against them), now leave!" The Colonel roared, the diplomat quickly left looking angered. The colonel couldn’t believe that the silly Camodians would demand such things when they were clearly the weaker party, they should just accept Saxonise rule, they are lucky to even have a government. The Colonel thought...

12th May 1797, 12 minutes past midnight - Outside Saxonise Garrison Headquarters of Candan

The two guardsmen manning the gate leading into the fort housing the Saxonise garrison in Candan could see a large mob heading up the large road leading from the Garrison through the town to the port, they held farming tools, swords, spears and touches and were quickly heading down the road towards them.

"Quick sound the alarm!" The more senior guard ordered the other, the other guard quickly ran off to sound the alarm bell, the senior guard then ran back inside the fort to the guard house by the gate and after bursting inside he quickly ordered the men on duty there to close the gates. As the men gathered their things and ran outside the alarm bell had begun to ring. "Quickly close the gate!" The senior Guard, now known as Sgt Harrison shouted. By now the parade square in the middle of the fort was quickly being filled up with the garrison force, and Lt. Colonel Monk strode over to Sgt Harrison.

"What the devil is going on here Sgt?" He demanded. "A large mob of natives are heading this way sir” The Sgt replied." I gave the order to close gates and to have the alarm bell rung."

"Yes, well very good Sgt. Get you and your men there to fall in once the gates are closed then, that will be all." After the two saluted the Colonel walked into the middle of the square where the three officers who command a hundred men each quickly fell silent and stood at attention as the Colonel came over to them. At the same time the Sargent Major called the garrison to attention.

"Is everyone present and correct Gentlemen?" The Colonel enquired.

"Yes sir, should they get in position on the walls?" One asked.

"Yes, do that now although i want forty men mounted on horseback and ready to charge through the gates when ordered, so make sure that men are stationed at that gate!" And with that he saluted the officers and headed for the fall facing the incoming mob. The Sargent Major quickly gave the order to "Fall out into battle positions" and the Saxonise garrison quickly began to ascend the stairs taking position on the battlements of the fort.

Five Minutes Later

By now the garrison had taken position along the battlements of the fort and forty of the men had mounted on horseback as per the Colonels orders, the mob had also stopped and they natives were now shouting abuse and had begun to throw rocks at the Saxonise defenders. "Right, Sgt Major, give them one warning to disband and leave and if they do not comply give the order to fire at will, is that understood?" The Colonel ordered.

"Yes sir" The Sgt Major replied in a brisk fashion. Then taking a deep breath he bellowed "Native Camodian people, what you are doing is an aggressive against us, if you do not disband immediately you will be shoot at, this is your only warning!"

After about thirty seconds and with the natives still not disbanding the Sgt Major again shouted, this time at the defending Saxonise solders "Fire at will!" Quickly the Saxonise guns were fired in quick concession at the native mob down below, it only took three rounds from each musket to cause the natives to turn tale and run, although the Colonel hadn’t finished yet. "Sgt Major!" The Colonel bellowed above the sound of musket shots. "Send in the cavalry to finish them off!"

The Sgt quickly shouted the order to the men bellow who quickly opened the gate giving the waiting cavalry the signal to go. They rode through the gates and as soon as they left the fort they spread out in a two lined formation and ran down the natives who were running for their lives. The ensuing chaos was a bloodbath, by sunrise the ground below the fort was scattered with bodies with the ground socked red in blood, hundreds of native’s dead...

When the Camodian government heard about this they quickly mobilized their small army supported by Camodian militia and tribesmen who were set to revenge their peoples. The Saxonise however had not wasted time quickly sending out the three Saxonise naval Sloops to near-by colonial bases for reinforcements and another messenger left in a home bound trade ship heading for Saxon itself to request assistance, yet another war of Saxonise imperial might had begun!

19th May 1797 - Saxon Castle, the Kings Throne Room

The messenger, a Sgt of the Royal messenger Corp came swiftly in to the room where the King had been summoned to.

"What is it?" The middle aged king demanded, he was rather tiresome of being summoned all the time and this was the second time today.

"Your highness, a message has come from one of our Military trade posts, Candan to be precise and the natives there have rebelled causing swift and decisive retaliation against the native population, the native’s government have amassed an army and are soon to march on Candan again and the port itself no doubt, they are asking us for immediate assistance." The messenger quickly replied.

The king looked at the messenger for a short while and then replied. "Send in another five hundred solders on foot, sixty cavalry men and four artillery pieces to reinforce the region, also order whoever is in charge there to take over not only Camodia but the smaller neighbouring tribes there as well, we might as well secure ourselves there in one go rather than doing it over and over again!" The King demanded.

The messenger bowed and quickly left the room. In a few days’ time a reinforcing army of seven (two hundred from neighbouring colonies) hundred solders, eighty cavalrymen (and twenty also from neighbouring colonies) and four artillery pieces will be landed at Candan, ready to expand the Saxonise empire even more!

24th May 1797 - Candan Military Port

The port was a bustle of activity, a small fleet of transport ships and supply ships had entered the port last night and the ships were now being emptied of their cargo's supplies were being stored the Kings reinforcing army was now marching up to the fort to receive orders. On the outskirts of Candanma the local Saxonise colonists were busy building and preparing defences for the town building ditches and wooden battlements along the town’s perimeter.

In the fort itself it was also busy with the sudden influx of troops, who needed to be shown their billets and the layout of the fort. Lt. Colonel Monk was in the map room with his officers and Lt. Dean who was to be the colonels new second in command. "Right men, now that our reinforcements have arrived we can now begin our conquests in the region. Firstly however we need to destroy the native government’s army which is sure to overwhelm us with its numbers which is why i have decided to stay here, build our defences and let them come to us. Then we will destroy them in battle and we should be able to take the region with ease... Are we all in agreement gentlemen?"

The officer nodded and murmured their agreement. "Good." The Colonel continued. "Then for now we must concentrate with securing the town and fort and to prepare for the incoming assault, from what our last patrol told us, the enemy are closing in, but at a slow pace, so make sure that the defences are up as soon as possible, we may only have days until they arrive. Dismissed!" The officer filed out of the map room with the Colonel left to look over his plans...
