Jade wasn't prone to sadness, at least not visibly so. After all, anything but confidence and amusement were detracting from the infamous Necromancer. Jade preferred people to think he never had anything but those two to feel. In fact, sometimes Jade convinced himself that he didn't feel anything but those. However, there was something that very few people knew would always get those negative emotions from him. Anger, longing, and yes, sadness. His interpretation of those feelings, however, was different from some, but recognizable nevertheless. The day had been a blur, passing Jade by as he mindlessly worked and waited to go home. He always felt numb and clammy and people had stopped asking why he was so distant, particularly today. They never got an answer and they never would. Upon arriving home, somewhat early and thankfully (for him) before Tear, Jade settled into lounge clothes, then grabbed a generic beer from the bottom of his fridge and went to the back of the house, hiding back there on a lawn chair and attempting to get past his high tolerance for alcohol briefly enough to chase away the lump in his throat and the emptiness dwelling in the pit of his stomach. |

Tear had had an off day. from when she had woken that morning seeing Jade sitting at the table, sipping his tea with an odd look in his eye, she had known something was wrong. When he had quickly removed that look when he heard her walk in only reinforced the idea. it had left her distracted most of the day. It had also been what made it hard for her to finish all her paperwork for the day on time and so she stayed a little late. Something had been bothering him, but what? She made an extra stop on her way home to get the ingredients for curry, in hopes that that would raise his spirits somewhat. "I'm home." She was greeted by a mew from the cat, but nothing else. Jade's boots were by the door, so he was home. Even if he was in his library, he usually called some sort of greeting. The distraction grew to something strong as she went to the kitchen to put the food away, finally catching sight of him in the back. She blinked when she saw he was drinking. Preparing curry would wait. She reached into the fridge and grabbed herself one as well, popping the can and taking a swig. She didn't really care for it, but, well, when in Daath... "What are you doing back here?" She kissed his forehead when she reached his side, smiling in an attempt to mask her worry. |

Tear's presence barely registered and the kiss to his forehead was a bit sudden for him. He realized he'd already been through the entire bottle by the time she had gotten home. "Fresh air." A very low, distracted grumble. He honestly couldn't really hide it from Tear anyways. After all, she would figure it out as soon as he so much as hinted that today was at all bad. Plus he was too tired to try. |

She noted the empty and took it from him, replacing it with hers. If he was that intent on drinking, well, she wasn't his mother. "Did you have a bad day at the office?" Of course he hadn't. Or, more precisely, that wasn't what had caused this. |

Jade took the bottle and stared at it, but didn't drink. However, he still didn't look at her, instead opting to look at the darkening sky. He was silent for the longest time. He knew she was just making conversation. She didn't know what was upsetting him, but she was trying to get to it in a way that wasn't obvious. Jade took a drink of the bottle and let his listless gaze fall to the ground again. He finally sighed, his elbows resting on his knees as he held the bottle between his hands. "When I first met the Professor, She was the only person in Keterburg who wasn't scared of my eyes.." |

She blinked. She didn't have to ask which professor, she knew the stories. Still, he didn't TALK about it... She sat on the chair next to him, trying to not put him off. "They aren't that scary..." |

Jade didn't reply to that either. He was silent and brooding for another long while. Talking felt odd to him, at least the kind that he had to think about. The fact that Tear alone was getting responses was nigh on miraculous. Jade ran a hand from his bangs back, brushing through his hair a bit, seeming upset and nervous somewhat suddenly. He leaned forward a bit and relied on the elbows on his knees to keep him from tipping over. "I never understood how she could be so kind." |

She nodded, not really sure what to say. She reached over and squeezed his knee reassuringly. "I would have liked to meet her..." |

"You would have gotten along. She would have been interested to meet a Yulian descendant." Jade moved a bit slowly as he leaned on her a bit, his head resting against her shoulder as he seemed to just suddenly relax on her. |

She wrapped an arm around him, almost unsure whether she should ask. "What made you think of her all of a sudden?" It wasn't all of a sudden. She had a seen that sadness building slowly for the past week or so. |
