Christmas Rares Santa's elves have come to Burthorpe bearing sacks of presents for everyone in RuneScape. They'll be dishing out parcels of Christmas joy in a two-week raffle - including a limited number of brand-new rares. From 3rd December 00:00 GMT until 16th December 23:59 GMT, you can collect enchanted snow through skilling, combat, chatting to Santa's head elf in Burthorpe once per day, and through Treasure Hunter. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rare Gifts Every 1000 snow gathered can be made into an enchanted snowball, which can be handed to the head elf. The next day, you'll be able to collect a number of Christmas presents from the head elf - the same as the number of snowballs you handed in, up to 50. These contain prizes, including a limited number of rare items across all those awarded:
At the end of each week - after reset time on Wednesday 00:00 GMT - you'll be able to collect big Christmas presents: one for your first, and then approximately one per five snowballs handed in during the week, up to a maximum of 10 presents. These weekly presents have more limited items, so you've a greater chance of getting a sought-after prize from each one. They're also the only way that members can get the glowing cracker. When pulled with another player, this gives 1000 Bonus XP in a random skill to both. Its owner also gets a prize, which could be the rarest of all Christmas gifts: the holly wreath. Of the new rares on offer, the holly wreath, Christmas scythe and rubber turkeys are tradeable, so get hold of them during the two week period if you can! For full details of the number of rares on offer, see the Christmas present and big Christmas present wiki pages. Let It Snow During the first week (3rd December 00:00 GMT - 9th December 23:59 GMT) you'll get double the snow you usually would from killing NPCs. On the second, (10th December 00:00 GMT - 16th December 23:59 GMT you'll get double snow from non-combat skilling activities. We'll also have JMods in game sprinkling snow around to help you out. Keep an eye on the forums, Twitter and Facebook for festive events and competitions. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All regular accounts get at least one Treasure Hunter Key per day, and RuneScape members get two - as well as access to the golden cracker! Go for Premier Club and you can get up to three Keys per day. You can earn more through gameplay – just visit the wiki to find out how, and to learn more about Treasure Hunter itself. Head to our billing page to buy more Keys, redeem Bonds in-game, or simply click ‘Buy Keys’ in Treasure Hunter itself. Enjoy! The RuneScape Team |

Thank you Christie for making our own forum the only place we ever need to look for important news! I took the liberty of summarizing the key point of this update in my quote. And if you still have too much in game gold pieces, you can always still throw them in the Well of Goodwill. However... I urge you not to. It costs 4.70 USD to buy a bond on Jagexes website, which can then be converted into 8m gold pieces, for every 8m gold pieces you throw in the Well they promise to donate the money it stands for to a charity of, basically, THEIR choice. Even though you can pick one of those they preselected. If you throw a Bond in the well, they promise to donate the value, 4.70 USD. A bond counts as 10m coins if you throw it in the Well. So be aware that the 4.70 USD you buy a bond for, which brings 8m on the GE, is reversely 10m coins and you effectively do NOT get the true value. So instead of buying bonds.... why not donate 5 USD directly to a charity of your choice! Mike already put this very eloquently before on this forum and I agree totally with him. This year I picked fighting the Ebola crisis in Africa through Doctors without borders (medecins sans frontieres). I did not donate to the national collection, because that would mean too much goes lost in the organization of the action and to some extent subsidizing the pharmaceutical industry who haven't lowered their price for the experimental medicine cocktail at all, in spite of their combined revenue in 2013 of over 500 billion USD. Seems they can't spare 10,000 packages with a production cost of 20 euro per treatment... Retail 1.8m USD. Gotta love multinational corporations and their shareholders. MSF/DwB - Ebola crisis in case you think it's a good idea too. Or help out a charity in your community. It's that time of the year
